Luke Rainbird
I've been spraying the mirror caps for the new teardrops. More orange peel than the Orangina factory bin. Thing is it's nothing unexpected, but I'm WAY too impatient to wait a few days before wet sanding etc. Tough call
JD™
Been prepping and spraying the other wheels today. Now got four ready, just wish somewhere would get some PU lacquer in stock
HippY
Today I changed anti roll bar bushes to powerflex black, fitted camber bolts to the front and changed my front nearside speed/abs sensor. Got a hurricane of before and after pics for you all. I want to see them. but this time around could you use like arrows or red circles to show the change?

craigjames
Gave the Brembos a lick of black paint today, look ok too Far from perfect though.. Decals and lacquer tomorrow. Not that you'll be able to see much behind the alloys once they're fitted
Luke Rainbird
Stealth Brembos FTW. That's why I did them in a pretty inconspicuous colour before, though that said the set on the LCR will be going either black or bright yellow

David
Can anyone give me a quick run-down on good insurance companies for modified cars, please? Luke Rainbird
I always had the most joy with Greenlight, but usual suspects also include Brentacre, Flux, Sky etc. Have a look on any car-specific forum and you'll usually find a list of sponsors who offer club discounts for forum members too Edit: Jake - not a chance
MartMini
bear with my stupidity (i hate MOT language) but am i right in saying 'Supplementary restraint system' is airbag/ seatbelt pre-tensioners? if so, am i right in saying the light should come on when you switch the ignition on, then go off afterwards? isitafox
Bollocks, there is so much to be said for putting completely unsuitable engines in cars way too small for them Yes, I remember reading a non boy racer car mag years ago where a guy had taken the cosworth engine out his sierra as it had rotted to bits and stuck it in a Fiat Cinquecento. Now that was "Fast and Furious"!
MartMini
Yes. cheers. after the 'advisory' list on the mot that came with my car had been 90% of the issues ive fixed on it, theres an advisory that the air bag light doesnt come on, so i suspect they've removed the bulb. Just wanted to check before ripping the dash apart!
MadManMike
Regarding brakes, everyone knows it's cool to paint your rear drums bright red, to highlight the fact you have mega shit brakes.

craigjames
I'm with Sky and they were really good. Greenlight were the next most competitive company, either and you should be OK. Ha Luke, purple brakes just made me think of that other purple Leon shed This: To this: Were then primed and then sprayed black: I know they aren't perfect, but a nice quick job to smarten them up a little before they get installed. Decals and Lacquer to come next week Tomorrow I will mostly be removing cast wishbones, hubs/carriers, track rod ends and balls joints. Fun fun fun.
Luke Rainbird
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Progress dude, nice one. Need to try and make a little more progress with my mirrors today, be nice to get them sorted properly. Also need to order up poly bushes for the dogbone mount on the Leon (Craig, you've got one on the Golf to put on the A3 ). Does anyone know where I might be able to pick up both front and rear bushes for a decent price, or even where I can get the stretch bolts together with the bushes? Not the end of the world having to pop to the stealer for the bolts and pick bushes up seperately, but it'd be nice to find a complete set to save the hassle. MartMini
Took the dash apart today.... people are morons... complete morons: so yeah, what do you do apparently when the airbag light comes on? insulation tape over the icon, then stuff the light hole with paper: Oh look, the airbag light comes on..... and stays on. (which i knew would happen otherwise they wouldnt have gone though all that effort!)

Already got a a Powerflex diesel front dog bone bush and one of these http://www.psituning.com/product.php/19135/ecs_dogbone_mount_kit_with_stretch_bolts___golf_4_bora_a3__ttmk1_oct1_leon1 for the small end. Bought the whole kit so got the small bush, used the stretch bolts and sold the large bush for £15 on Ebay... Et voila: Do you want the dogbone link back Luke? I'll have a hunt to see what the old man has done with it, then all you need is bolts. Edited January 25, 2015 by craigjames
Luke Rainbird
To be honest, at that price for the whole kit I'll just grab one - given that buying separately it'd set me back around £50 for bushes and bolts £35 is perfectly agreeable. Means you can get full whack for the one off the Golf too so everybody wins. Appreciate the offer though, cheers Edit; On second thoughts, let me know how much you'd like for it mate. Could do with one for Soph's.

I've shopped around but was £80 better off with them than the others and got more for it.

Not the one i've got fitted and pictured with the red and black bush, because that's on my A3. Wish bones, hubs/carriers etc. all off and split Edited January 25, 2015 by craigjames
