Greetings
I don't come in here often enough Just dropping a vid of a bog standard jap town car from the 80's taken through it's paces. Chose to do this season on a budget, so here's the first 300 quid saved on not using the M3 Finished 2nd in class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCKr495gS0k
Luke Rainbird
Awesome stuff dude. Are you planning to keep the M3 off the road for a year or two whilst saving some funds to get it back into action down the line? Airbox arrived while I was away, cheers George. Definitely potential for a stealth S2000 setup in there with a little work...
MartMini
Keep this thread updated luke, might have to be really original and copy you Made a proper effort at my quickshift over the last few days. SAw this online and wanted to make my own: Some 12mm Steel bar and plate, 2 x 13mm bolts and a 6mm bolt later : Felt so wierd after this, really regretted it as it felt too tight, so little side to side movement, but lots of front to back movement, so today i sorted that out: The right one was one i made a while ago. Made it massivly too short and it hit everything. got it right this time by only making it 4mm shorter (made alot more of a difference than i thought it would)

Azarathal
Looking at cars for the girlfriend, Clio had no oil/coolant and nothing but mayo, micra had no coolant and failed power steering and just saw a corsa which had just had it's sump gasket changed, cam cover was weeping badly, loud tapping over the sound of the usual corsa tap which could've been injector and all pulleys were wobbly and cracking. I know she's asking a lot for a max budget of £1250 but how can people keep cars in such bad shape?
Jake.
Lighten the f**k up. Easier said than done, I'm a very chilled out person usually but my patience is growing thin with cars. Best of luck next time I hope. How's the Leon?
Luke Rainbird
Other than the fact that the windows still have a mind of their own and randomly drop approx 50% of the time when unlocking the car, it's good Need to get my hands on a Dremel ideally to play with this stealth intake but that's a minor issue. I've been away for the past week so not had a chance to play other than replacing the pollen filter in 5 mins I had earlier. Fingers crossed for more playtime soon.Have you sold the Ibiza now then? Guessing it's beyond being worth/wanting to sort it out?

CurtisRider
I finally got round to trying that rain repellent stuff you guys recommended. I did all the application stuff as per instructions but I can't see how it is any better than Rain X...It doesn't repel until 60, but that was the case with Rain X too! It's still good for motorway stuff, just massively overpriced compared to the £3 a bottle for Rain X that has enough for many applications. I'll see if it lasts any longer before being too bitter
Luke Rainbird
already started to dremel the inside of mine out! out of interest, whats the OD of the pipe on the s2000 air filter?Give me a mo and I'll head out and have a look. It's an 80mm ID from memory as it sits straight over the standard MAF
Skoze
Best of luck next time I hope. Yep! Really wasn't a dig mate. I wont begin to air my thoughts on the whole episode with that motor or we'll have another 3-page row between people - seems it's a pup and i'm absolutely gutted you've got lumbered with it. Tart the f**ker up, flip it and spend the money on making the Caddy real nice and useable?
Pete.M
+1 for Caddy. The more simple a car the better, if you're looking for reliability.

Luke Rainbird
Mart: ID is 80mm as before. Not immensely obvious here due to the colour of the plastic and my awful photography skills/phone! OD is actually tapered slightly and has a minor bead to it as seen in this abomination of a photo: An 84/86mm or so hose would likely tighten up ok I would imagine. Guessing it's beyond being worth/wanting to sort it out? Ahh heard on some VAG cars that you can get windows you open and close by holding lock/unlock, that's annoying haha. Have you tried changing the settings somehow to disable it? May be the easiest way to go about fixing it? Nope, will either fix it and sell if it seems worth it/cheap enough otherwise I'll split it and scrap the shell. Yep! Really wasn't a dig mate. Tart the f**ker up, flip it and spend the money on making the Caddy real nice and useable? Hahaha cheers for that, already got plans for a mate from Crawley who works at Halfords with me, (he's a car businessman outside of work and seems pretty knowledgeable with things) to come down to quote the caddy for welding. I've been driving her round the block every now and then, and not once she hasn't started first time even after leaving it for a month over December! Quite impressed to be honest. Someone crashed into it the other day... Yeah ^ forgot to mention that, just trying to blank it out altogether Thinking of a manual diesel merc c220 estate in the not too distant future...
