dann2707
Just go straight to the Autofactors? Spoiler is all sprayed up! I've managed to get one run. I know full well how i've done it too, there's a lack of light in my garage and the spoiler has been sprayed on the floor so I can't relaly see underneath it properly. Definitely learnt from my mistake and will be raising what i'm spraying further up next time. What would be the best way to get rid of the run, obviously i'll wait a few days to let it fully harden but literally flat back with something like 2500 grit and polish? Looks like this atm though. Really happy with how this has turned out can't wait to fit! 20141123_205906 by dann2707, on Flickr
Tom Booth
Yeah I wouldn't go too mad and stay around 2000grit, take your time as aerosol lacquer never builds like lacquer from a gun so you may well go through if your not careful. Looking good thou dude

Tom Booth
John Darwin, it was a sm avatar of the month thing from ages ago, hence why Anzos is flight MH370. If I remember rightly it was famous missing things or something.

forteh
Saturday morning my nearside rear brakes started grinding, had a quick look and the outside pad is down to metal Drove home carefully, got some new pads from the local factors sunday morning and fitted them without any major issues (apart from winding the pistons in being a bit of a bitch till I realised I needed to undo the bleed nipple ). All of the other three rear pads had loads of life left but the one was down to the metal, what would cause this? One of the caliper pins was very sticky and needed tapping out with a hammer, I greased them all up and are now free moving, would this have done it?
Jolfa
A sticky slider would only wear one pad yeah, because the other one could never make contact if the caliper can't move.
forteh
The other pad was making contact as well (the piston is inboard on the focus) but as the caliper wasn't sliding freely I guess each time the brakes went on the pad would touch on and then simply wear away rather than sliding off. As long as there shouldn't be any other reason for that to happen then I'm not too worried
AdamR28
Yep, sticky slider. You should be able to open the brake master reservoir and push the piston back, rather than opening the bleed nipple.
forteh
To be honest, I don't even know where the resevoir is I don't do maintenance to cars :$ I have read that if you don't release the bleed nipple you risk flipping the master cylinder seal, I figure it's better to lose a little fluid than have to change the master! Angle grinder and socket to the rescue to make piston winding tool
dann2707
Can't you get mole grips on the piston instead? Saves you messing around grinding if so!

forteh
Can't you get mole grips on the piston instead? Saves you messing around grinding if so! I've made the tool now, was an old spare socket anyways, also see below you only flip the seal if you do it too quickly/forcefully. Gentle force with a pair of adjustable pliers is fine. The caliper has the handbrake mechanism inline with the piston so there wasn't really anything to push against, I don't have any waterpump pliers and my molegrips aren't big enough. Leaning on it whilst twisting worked well enough, took about 5 minutes to do each piston, it certainly wasn't fast That's interesting, I've never heard / done that - but it does make sense! Got me wondering now, haha. I just didn't want to run the risk of causing more problems than I already had; the car had to be back on the road by 3pm to take the stepdaughter to violin exam practise with the pianist, last thing I needed was to lunch the master cylinder! FWIW it's not that I can't do maintenance to cars, it's more that I don't enjoy it so it doesn't get done. They tend to be a horrible rusty stuck mess with bolt heads that aren't accessible and then round off with the merest hint of torque, not having ramps probably doesn't help. The motorbike on the other hand, I'll quite happily lump the engine out, strip it down to the crank and chuck it back together no bother.

Pete.M
Gutted. Out of the usual bunch of cars on here that's gotta be one of my favourites. In sh*te old Volvo news, I have a new theory as to why it's so slow. I think the timing belt might've slipped a tooth. Can't check until the weekend though. Basically it's really really hard to stall (it'll go to almost no revs but keep going) but has very little power. No pinking weirdly. Does that sound like mega advanced timing? CurtisRider
Injectors arrived cars soaked inside as it hasn't been under the car port so it's currently got a fan heater inside to dry it out :$ fingers crossed they solve some issues...or at least help
dann2707
Spoiler is on, paint work isn't fantastic at all as Tom said, painting GRP is an absolute dick so hopefully Tom's going to be able to spray it up for me properly Other than the finish i'm not particularly happy with, what do people think to the style? I think it looks great for the price but interested to hear what others think about how it looks. 20141124_181943 by dann2707, on Flickr 20141124_181950 by dann2707, on Flickr This is the bit where i've striked through, to the left of the three dots of the reflected CS sticker 20141124_182023 by dann2707, on Flickr 20141124_182209 by dann2707, on Flickr Also got some 5000k HID bulbs from HID direct for a total of £11 delivered. craigjames
Can't really see what the spoiler looks like from those (lack of) angles and can't really see much of a difference in the lights either. What were they before?
dann2707
any normal side on pictures so you can see what it actually looks like? Haha tomorrow when it's daylight! And this is what it looked like before if it gives you better picture The lights before were mismatched, really hard to capture on a phone but on the before pic the nearside is way more yellow.
