TrialsIsHard
I'm a 5 minute walk from the university and realistically would only use it occasionally to go home/tesco. I can apply for a parking permit behind my house.. although not the safest place to leave a car you care about. I'm not sure it's a viable idea, as it would be very expensive to run/ maintain. I guess I'll have to get my fix when I go home, or get in a local taxi- who's driving reminds me of the video for By The Way- the Foo Fighters. dann2707
I'd have taken you up on that, but unfortunately there was no visible degree in that last picture you posted so I'm not sure you're actually Dan. Haha you bast Got my first feedback tonight which is a nice feeling. https://flic.kr/p/pG5KpK
Prawny Baby
I didn't have a car at uni in my first year, as they actually made us sign a contract to say we wouldn't keep a car in portsmouth! (due to over crowding!)As soon as I moved into a student house, with parking on the road, I had the car from then on.Wouldn't be without it - horrible idea. There's a name for without cars - peasants
MadManMike
Received a cam cover gasket, upper and lower gear shift boots and some nice shiny black steel wheel nuts. This weekend will consist of fitting all those parts and also new spark plugs, oil filter, oil and possibly the fuel filter too, if I can be bothered. I've got a few sets of wheels to choose from, not sure which ones to go with - I'll clean them all up and see which look best.
AdamR28
Good stuff. The fuel filter can be a bit of a pain so either do it first before you've got annoyed or not at all, haha. Grab some silicone for the 'corners' of the cam cover gasket, and some GL4 for the shift turret - worth replacing while it's apart. The guides on miata.net/garage cover everything pretty well
MadManMike
Yeah I heard the fuel filter is a pain in the arse, hence I'm not sure if I'll do it this week. It's not a genuine Mazda one, so I'm tempted to sell it and buy a genuine. Cheers for the heads up on the cam cover, how come I need silicone? It's a genuine gasket, if that makes any difference. And yeah, I plan on doing the GL4 too, I assume somewhere like ECP will it.
AdamR28
Got a non-genuine fuel filter on the race car, that will be fine You don't *need* silicone but it will help. Check the guide on miata.net for full details. Good call on the genuine gasket btw, the pattern ones are shit. Aye, ECP, Hellfrauds, any motor factor
Duncy H
Tarty Adam can you help? I've put some new bulbs in the mx5 but now the headlights are stuck up. Been told possibly a fuse or the switch? Don't know where to start with the fuse box cause it's in Japanese Also had any experience with windows? Think my passenger side door electric window cable has snapped.

Window - one of mine does the same, think it might be a bad earth to the motor as I can't hear anything whirring when I press the switch. I've got another window and a roof that comes off so that's plenty of air con for me
MartMini
Apparenly this is an MOT testers idea of "Suspension arm rubber buysh deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement" Edited October 17, 2014 by MartMini
Matthew_Gibson
best thing you can do with them is poly bush them. reduces the play 10fold. but them bushes are like that brand new! quite shocking to be honest
CurtisRider
Cutting steel fuel pipes... How do I do it safely? Obviously not with the grinder! I was thinking about snipping them with some tin snips or similar to get them accessible then using an old copper pipe cutter to make the proper cuts. I'm fitting rubber hose where my steel pipes are corroded as I took a peak the other day and got worried!
Prawny Baby
Good result David! you must be very happy with that MiniMart - That's rediculous! When was it MOT'd? Hairdressers - carry on
MadManMike
Broken gear nob, no gaiter and clearly wrecked boots: Centre removed: Empty hole, avec oil: Upper and lower boots replaced, new gaiter fitted and new gear knob on. It's only temporary, until I can find a Nardi knob to match my wheel

MadManMike
None of my other cars have had exciting knobs, it has to be said. Nothing like polishing a knob with the wind in your hair.

Azarathal
Does it make a massive difference Dan? I can pick up an ultrasonic cleaner from work for about £60ish after discount and was wondering if it was worth it. What else could I theoretically clean with it?
CurtisRider
Get the £30 one from Maplins, its fine. Ideally you need to be able to pump cleaner through the injector to really clean it and then test its flow and spray pattern to ensure its all groovy but every little helps
