The Car Thread

Haven't done much to the clio lately apart from just getting back from a 300 mile round trip going to the lake district with the mrs.
Ended up averaging a nice 42mpg too which was cool despite enjoying some of the roads.. :D
However i'm getting a horrible feeling when driving, clunking when accelerating and changing gear, pulling to the right when accelerating, steering pulling left and right when braking. So far I have...
New track rod ends and inner tracks
new lower wishbone ball joints
lower polybushed engine mount
fully tracked using hunter system
new upper gearbox mount
new bearings at the rear, tightened up to 175nm etc
new nearside bearing
Still feels horrible.
Anyway, some pics.

I was travelling along the M40 back towards Oxford at 55mph due to the worst standing water I have ever seen on the motorway. Some woman has admitted to driving at 90mph plus, aquaplaning and losing control before hitting the side of my flat bed, causing me to flip onto my side and end up blocking lanes two and three facing the other side of the motorway. I have no idea where all the front end damage came from, it did set the air bags off after she hit me though, so I must have hit either her car or something, I can't quite work it out. The main this is I walked out of this with just a stiff neck, don't think I'd choose anything other than a Hilux again.

Wow, glad you're alright man.

Crikey, amazing you got out of it so well. Hope the stiff neck doesn't have any repercussions

Looks like that thing took a lot of the beating for you. Good that you're ok!

Is that the beast you came to mine in? Glad you're alright mate!

It is that beast yeah, thanks!

Thanks to everyone else to!

Really cant tell with the stereo on.

I know, realised after :( my phone is broken so I didn't think it would record the sound so didn't turn it down.

The only thing I can suggest is look at the steering whee and how jittery it is.

Becoz Renault

Jokes, plugged it in to see what codes it shows, if any?

It's a mechanical fault dude

We need @haz in here to help (again when the tagging system would be f**king awesome but i'm wrong so it doesn't matter...)

Haha, my laptop lagged and made it seem as if the car was hunting, checked for play in the steering column itself?

Strut top mounts/bearings, arm bushes..

Haha no worries mate.

The steering rack bushes don't move at all when wobbling the steering wheel. Absolutely solid and look quite new actually so I ruled that out.

With the top mounts, they do wobble quite a bit when turning the steering wheel but I presume this is normal?

Wishbone bushes seem fairly solid too!
