Audi A3 (2010) and Porsche 924. The 924 has a mahoooosive rear screen but i mainly just want to do the windscreens with the G1, the rest can be done with the seemingly endless amounts of Rain x I seem to have :P it seemed pretty good on the windscreens last year just didn't last that long and you lot raved about G1 being awesome so hopefully that'll help make up for my shit wipers on the 924

From what i've noticed it doesn't work too well driving at city speeds as there is another one for that, G2 or G3 maybe but you have to apply it more often.

It does however make cleaning the car a lot easier as no water sticks to it and doesn't ice up on a morning. Laughed at my mum the other way as she was in the drive de-icing whilst I just got in and drove off haha

G5. I was wrong lol

I tend to do more motorway stuff in the Porsche, the Audi is just the shopping/runabout car and only really does the odd longer journey. Maybe I should get the G5 for the Audi then, it gets used feck all anyway!

On a side note, I have roof bars for the Porsche, the surprisingly practical just got even more useful :D

Bad news regarding my seats.

Basically they aren't very good. I bought some knock off Recaro Pole Position seats from eBay, and the quality just isn't there. They were shipped from Athens so I can't return them, so I'll just try and sell them cheap on a forum to somebody I don't know.

Which has left me not wanting to be bitten again, so there's a few new options for me to look st in time for Donny.

Real men have real Pole Positions. Sort it out.

I see some minor paint imperfections on your car Jardo ;)

My checklist is getting smaller for the car! Just need:

Front calipers - Ordering when BigRed reply

Rear calipers - These can wait until next month

Polybush the car - Most likely this month, currently have extremly wobbly and twitchy handling, tramlining like a bitch and pulling all over the place so I'm hoping this'll sort it

Alternator - Refurb unit, can wait until next month

Clutch - Can also (hopefully) wait until next month

Once those are done the pennies are getting saved towards a V6 conversion, I just want the roar and ease of driving especially as it'll still be my daily. Happy with car progress at the moment :)

I love this.

You use your economical, modern, and reliable car for short journeys.

Then an old, less refined, less economical, and less reliable car for long journeys

Because the Porsche is so much more fun to drive vs the mundanity of the Audi. You need to remember the A3 is just a 1.8T S line, not an S3 and therefore lacks the much of fun element. It's not significantly better on fuel that the Porsche and was only bought to keep the girlfriend happy as it's red and has pretty lights :P The Audi is fine if you want a quiet cruise with minimal effort (which it does well), the Porsche is fine if you want to actually have any involvement in the driving experience and have a big smile...I choose the latter!

Mike, you keep mentioning your mx-5 not having space for decent speakers but I'm sure mine had 16cm ones in the doors, which with just some reasonable 2 way components and an old sony headunit had enough punch for quite a few passengers to comment, enough to keep me happy anyway. Maybe my car had different doorcards being earlier or something? Might be worth looking at earlier doorcards if that is the case.

With rain repellant stuff, I've just been using rain-x glass cleaner. Ok it wears off fairly fast but I just give the glass a quick clean with it whenever I clean the car and that keeps it topped up enough, it's literally no harder to use than just cleaning the glass. It works well and the bottles still got plenty left after 9 monthsish.
