MartMini
I never touched the brakes? I don't meant to be harsh mate, but the guy you've got working on your car is a f**king retard. He spent ages on the phone telling me the dump valve was leaking, it's a f**king turbo diesel :/ Is he an apprentice by any chance? had this on fb the other day. bloke was like 'you could still fit one to a diesel'. trying to explian that theres virtually no backpressure due to not having a throttle valve, so they'd be no benefit, and no backpressure to activate the dump valve
SamKidney
Id bet if you took it off the road and spent some time fixing everything properly it would be fine.. Its only ever gone wrong since you've had it and from what I'd seen Dan spent alot of time and effort looking into going about things properly, as well as successfully using it as his daily driver..

Thanks mate. And agreed on the highlighted bit, from what that picture showed when you did the cable tie bodge it looks like the boost pipe hasn't even been fitted by your mate correctly as it was squashed. He's either put it on upside down or hasn't clocked the turbo at the correct angle.

MadManMike
Cheers for the photo / info Aza. I can't mount mine behind the seat, as the seat is as far back as it will go - 6' 2" in a Eunos doesn't give me an awful lot of seat positions I can actually use haha. I'm thinking the "parcel shelf" behind me is the best place for it. That pic gives me an idea of the size anyway, looks like it should be quite a good fit. Pashley26
Took me 25 minutes to remove it on Monday night, and about 45 minutes to put it all back together this morning. Wahooooo I've fixed something.

Nope, the seats are pretty much on the floor mate The only space in the Eunos is the parcel shelf or the boot.
Prawny Baby
DC2 or DC5, don't think there is a DC3 Well done on fixing something jardo, saves me having to do it for you teg looks smart. it's crying out for some decent tyres, and some trackday abuse I reckon! Does it have a silly jap type exhaust? or one that'll actually let you get onto some tracks?

The exhaust is ridiculous on it think its a 3.5 system its so loud wouldnt pass a 105db track limit i dont think. Had a hunt on ebay and i can buy a baffle i think its called to slightly reduce the size to reduce the noise so gonna order 1 of them up to sort the problem for the moment. Dying to get it on the track now. Theres an open track day at knockhill this month mite take it up if i can get speedo sorted out next week when the original dash arrives. So with decent tyres for track what would u recommend not clued up on different tyres at all? Tyres and helmet would get me through a track day i recon for the mean time till i can afford cage and decent harnessess.

I don't think you can go far wrong with Federal RSR-595s for all round sort of use (track, road, wet, dry).

Pashley26
You audi boys might like this: http://www.speedhunters.com/2012/07/mini-quattro/ "The donor engine was taken apart and fitted with a billet crankshaft from a 1996 model Audi A3, deemed stronger and therefore more reliable to accept the higher boost levels " This aggravates me. forteh
This aggravates me. For any particular reason? The billet vs forged? I thought that all cranks are forged as it is invariably stronger; billet seems to be very badly misused buzz word. Perhaps the later crank was lightened by Audi for economy reasons and the older one heavier and hence stronger. Tom Booth
I love everything about that build except the hideous Monte Carlo z minis shell. They're so fugly it's unreal.

I thought that all cranks are forged as it is invariably stronger; billet seems to be very badly misused buzz word. Perhaps the later crank was lightened by Audi for economy reasons and the older one heavier and hence stronger. He says in the blurb that the 1998 engine was swapped for a 1996 because of its "billet" crank. In 1998 the only engines you could get for an A3 were an AGU which had a forged crank, and an AQA (from August onwards) which had a forged crank too. The concern for me is that he has later ME7 coil packs, so I think his 1998 car wasn't actually a 1998 car. Because after 1998 when they face lifted they dropped the forged crank in place of a cast one. Also worth noting that all 1.8t's are old now, and if he's bank rolled tens of thousands on a build like that then why has he fitted a £50 second hand crank. /grumpy
forteh
That makes sense, an earlier forged (see comment on 'billet' nonsense) crank would certainly be an improvement over a cast one. I honestly hadn't considered that cranks could be cast, makes sense financially though.
Danny
Its probably more down the tard writing the article than the actual owner. Judging by the car the owner knows his shit.
Pete.M
Those suspension turrets/mounts look like they would flex a lot. I suppose it's a light car, but it still looks scary.
