AdamR28
Racing incident IMO - GT3 driver was unlucky to lose it / shouldn't have lost it, then the car who hit him should have had more about him and got further onto the grass to get out of the way. Or aimed for where the GT3 was, that's the general rule - although training your brain to do that completely counter-intuitive thing in a split second is tricky.
Pashley26
What about the turbo that's been on my car and Prawn's (and now onto its 5th owner)...that thing has been abused to high heaven, and is still in perfect condition, Not even a fraction of a millimetre of movement, no blade damage, no cracks in the housing. Because it was rebuilt many times, because it was like all other hybrid turbos, just another hybrid cobbled together with bits out of bigger turbos. It's just a waste of money, I don't know a single person who has fitted a hybrid and been "happy" with it and not upgraded it within a couple of years. I think you'll follow suit eventually. Besides, most K03 hybrids struggle to see more than 270BHP. Fair enough K300's have gone up to K04 numbers. But my logic is... A K300 is £700 for the unit alone. A K04-064 could be fitted for another £3/400. A complete K04 setup is £350/400. And add the additional torque and low spool up of the K03 hybrid you'll be wanting rods too if you want to be able to sleep at night. greg1040
^^ This. And make sure they're on a proper harness bar, not a strut brace or bolted into the floor... Any reason why bolting them straight into where the back seat belts are bolted into are a bad idea? Something along the lines of this? Read up or harness bars since u guys mentioning them and some have said stay clear of mounting harness straight to them as theyve seen some horrendous bends in them with a crash?Teg looks really cool, I like that a lot! I'd advise against buying those harnesses though. Cheap nasty crap I'm afraid, and won't be comfy or nice to use at all. either stick to lap belts, or go the whole hog with a 4/6 point 3'' harness with a centre buckle. Going from my A3 with proper harnesses, into the Mini with the type in your pic, they feel REALLY uncomfy, and really unsafe too. Thanks . Im all new to this setting a car up and what to go with and what to stay clear of so all the help i can get is appreciated. You got any recomendations for harnessess then which are nice and comfy aswell as mega safe? Thoughts on a bolt in cage compared with a welded in? Im swaying towards a bolt in cage which can easily be removed if i wanted to put the car back to near on standard interior?

Cheers, was interested in an unbiased opinion. I've seen so many accidents (well, perhaps incidents as you call it because the drivers just randomly lose control) from the GT3 group that I'm beginning to hate them with a passion. They're wrecking my friends cars all the time. Too much money and not enough skill. This is how bad they are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoKtgRhHkJk

Something along the lines of this?Read up or harness bars since u guys mentioning them and some have said stay clear of mounting harness straight to them as theyve seen some horrendous bends in them with a crash? That photo doesn't look too bad as the bar changes the angle of the belts, but have a look through here: http://www.schrothracing.com/sdocs/2009_Competition_Instructions.pdfIf it's a proper harness bar it will be up to the job, but a cage is 'best'.If you pick any 5 point FIA approved harness with 3" shoulder straps that would be a good shout. About £110-120 from memory.Bolt in cages will still need some welding, as you put feet ('towers') into the shell and then bolt the cage into these. Pashley26
To prove that not everything in my life is perfect... Alternator packed up on Saturday night. Replacement was dispatched today. Went for a fully reconditioned one with a new pulley off eBay, £75 deliverered. So for now she is sat on the driveway in disgrace! Looks familiar... we have the same in our series, when a fast Mk1 gets caught up with a slow Mk3... Frustrating and every now and then ends up in carnage

And add the additional torque and low spool up of the K03 hybrid you'll be wanting rods too if you want to be able to sleep at night. I have already followed suit...I'm partway through a TFSI conversion, lol. As I said, it all depends on the budget, and what the existing modifications are. If stage 2 modifications have already been undertaken for a K03 based car, to convert to K04 replaces all those, so its spending money twice. If you don't have any mods at all and have a blank canvas, then it may be more cost effective to go bigger turbo if you can afford it. TFSI isn't a straight forward swap at all, compared to just bolting on a hybrid. There is lots of fabrication work involved, and its a bit of a pain in the arse to be fair, as is doing a "big turbo" swap. So really it depends what you want from the car, and how much work you are willing to put into it...
Danny
I'm going to get a smallish hand held extinguisher to put in the mini. I don't want a micky mouse one i want something guaranteed to work if required (fia/msa approved?). Wheres best to buy one from other than demon thieves? Also foam or powder? MadManMike
Anyone used one of those under seat subs? My new sound system is good, but because of the size restriction of the speakers there's no bass unless you're parked up with the engine off... Being a Eunos there's a restriction on space unless I start hacking the car apart, which I did consider, but would rather not do.

SamKidney
Bought an engine for 40 quid. I got all the ancillaries, the cat, and the gearbox, bargain. Stripped it all down tonight to the bare block, everything steam cleaned. Rings ordered, main and big end bearings ordered, valve stem seals, head gasket ordered and cylinder head arranged for skimming tomorrow. Should have a healthy engine in my car by Wednesday, winning

dann2707
Just got some lift off oversteer coming off a roundabout, that was entertaining to say the least thank God no one saw. Corrected it like a boss though, turn into it and power on and it got me back on track.
