MadManMike
[still can't quote posts on here..] Yeah, first thing I'm going to check is the fuse, then it's multimeter time. The good thing about this car is that any problems it gets I can fix generally with pocket money!

Haz
Anyone used ramps like these before? Legit, or sketchy as fwark? Wouldn't be doing anything heavy, on the Clio and my mate e46.
CurtisRider
I have the hydraulic version. They are made of solid chunks of metal however the welds are fairly ugly and the paint finish isn't great. The upside is they are very cheap, they function well and they make working on the so much better as they get very high. There isn't really anything else that competes with them in terms of price and space taken up. Buy some!
MadManMike
So I'm guessing this is the source of my wiper problems...

Ever checked out how much a 46 weighs I think NS2-R's will be pretty high on my shopping list for the Scirocco soon along with a referb for my ATS. Jolfa
I fixed my wipers, though parts were left over lol. Weight saving, yo. The (read any) job is not complete unless you have at the very least 6 nuts and/or bolts left over!
MadManMike
I've done better than that. I have a big chunky metal thing that has a spring in. A vital part of the system I feel, but the wipers work nonetheless. My plan is to find out where it goes at the next MX5 meet on Sunday. I know roughly, but couldn't figure out exactly. MadManMike
Americans are really opinionated on cars. One of our US sales guys came over and was taking the piss out of all our cars apart from stuff like L200's. I told him I bought the Eunos and he said "That's cute". Jake.
All filters going to be replaced in the ibiza today, sub and new head unit to be wired up. Changing oil for first time since turbo install. New aluminum boost pipe (one that goes under the engine to intercooler) as old one (I forget the name of the material, rubbery shit) rubbed against the drive shaft when dogbone mount was loose and has caused a hole in it = boost leak. So shit driving up hill and having to keep dropping gears until I'm like at 20mph New maf sensor fitted, and oil breather line routed to boost pipe instead of under car now. Much less smoke, little bit less mpg. Ran some redex diesel cleaner through the car the other day, haven't really noticed any difference, will wait til I fit boost pipes to see if there is. Anyone else used the stuff? Also been quoted 180 to get all wheels powder coated in black, I may go for it but not really sure plus I don't really wanna spend money on looks. I want it to be f**king reliable first! Edited September 13, 2014 by Jake.

Pete.M
There's definitely enthusiasts in the US that like Miatas, but they're probably even harder to come by than in the UK. I think you're right Jake, make it reliable first! Tried to fit my exhaust and found it doesn't fit, so yet another week on expensive and slow public transport. A small upside to not getting my exhaust fitted is that I'm not going to miss the final day of Hot Rod Drag Week. Woohoo 'MURICA
MadManMike
I'd say the MX5 following is pretty huge in the UK really, most times I go for a drive I get a wave off a fellow MK1 driver. Although there are tons of Leon's, I rarely got waves or flashes - I guess most people just drive Leon's as they're a fairly decent spacious car, rather than a drivers car. Greetings
Hope this won't be a 3 steps forward, 2 steps back kind of job. Was at it for 8 hours today, replaced a broken clutch pedal, then found that the clutch master cylinder is also broken and looks quite odd (not original) so I decided to replace that with a 328 one from a spare E36. Hope this will solve my clutch problems, the car has never declutched properly. It's got a 328 5 speed gearbox, clutch and slave but the master cylinder was probably from an M3. Obviously the different master cylinder was not plug and play, had to replace the clutch hose too which was easy to remove since it was made of rubber. However, the one I took off the 328 was a solid piece of pipe. Took 3 hours to get into position, there's no room for anything in that car. Annoyingly it would be dead easy if the car wasn't modified. Everything that gets in the way is a modification of some sort. So they do actually design these things with easy maintenance in mind which is a comforting thought. Put the cables back in (well, sort of). Plugged most of the sockets into the instruments/modules and the car runs! No immobiliser problems or other issues I can't find one socket for the instrument cluster, if it's where I think it is, this will set me back a few hours Anyway, with the engine running and the ABS probably being a matter of soldering a few cables this is looking fairly promising. Will finally have a nice view of the pedals for the GoPro and might just have solved my clutch problems too.

Pashley26
It sounds utterly shit, I wasted minutes of my life watching that yesterday and was left feeling robbed of life. I urge anybody viewing this thread not to bother with the above video.

RobinJI
I'm fully aware it's a boat, but my point is really that it's not a land cruiser. Haha, yeah, sorry, obviously one should be fine on a set of those ramps. I seem to have some sort of obsession with pointing out how much BMW's weigh at any opportunity. I am actually aware that they're good cars (well, mostly), it's a weird problem I have They're just so heavy and so small inside, if it wasn't for that I'd absolutely love them. Greetings, looks like satisfying progress, I love tidying things like that lot up, it's always really pleasing work to do. I should do it more... As for the Ferrari noise, there was about 2 points in that video where the revs got really high and it started to sound nice, otherwise, it's nothing too special really. (PS, I wasn't going to watch it, then I read Jardos post which provoked me to press play )

I'm actually with you. I wouldn't own one, personally, except maybe an M3. The car in question is the 330Ci Clubsport like JD's and honestly on the motorway it's not a bad place to be with the I6 upfront. He can't keep up with the Clio though, ~500kg heavier and only 50hp to show for it.
