J.KYDD
It sounds like he's doing ok all things considered, but still not exactly perfectly fine. Ligament/tendon damage in his knees from the dash and a few broken ribs purely from the deceleration. I don't know the exact list but it sounded like that was the worst of it. Sadly the tendon damage sounded like it's going to take a while to heal up. Pretty nasty really. Real shame. I text'd Ben as soon as I saw this on here yesterday. Seems like his dad is doing OK given how buggered his knees are. Saw Chelsea last night too (she came over to see the new house) and chatted with her about it for a while. Sounds like Brian is keeping in pretty good spirits
craigjames
Steering boss is here, Nardi wheel is on the way. Just want to get paid at the end of this month to buy some 595's and get rid of these poop brakes. What's wrong with your Brembo 4 pots?! Pashley26
DS 2500's, probably the least confidence inspiring brakes imaginable. Brake once. Flat, no bite, no power. Brake the second time. Reasonable bite, good stopping power. Brake the third time. Nothing. They would be better if they were always poor, or always alright. But because you never know what's going to happen when you press the pedal it's really unnerving. Fluid is fresh, and properly bled. Discs were only 1000 miles old when the pads went in; and had been replaced with new standard pads at that time. After the Mintex race pads I used to run these just don't cut it. I'm not overly inspired that GT Junior calipers (I don't have LCR brakes, not that there is any performance difference) are up to the job of repeatedly stopping a 1450kg 290bhp car. Jake.
That's what my car does! I was gonna get new discs for it as I suspected warped discs. Bite point keeps changing. Any idea what it could be? Doesn't feel spongy.

Jake.
warped disks usually give the pedal a juddering feel. Ah okay not that then! Basically when I come to a stop, sometimes it gives an initial brake and then does nothing for a few cm then all of a sudden bites. It's quite scary at times. My seat is in a college car park and the college garage is closed for summer so I've got to tow it to my friends house, we're going to work on it from tonight to Thursday night... Hopefully we can get all the old oil flushed out and stick the new turbo in, try make sure it's set up to drive and I'm going to take it easy for a month or so. That is if I can actually get it towed by the aa as an emergency breakdown that is... I'm covered by them. Any tips on making sure it deffo gets towed? Like is there anything I could say that may make them be like ah no sorry can't do it.
AdamR28
What Alex said. Bedded the pads in properly Jardo? I have had the discs glowing red on Stan's Clio with DS2500s fitted and they worked spot on, also work perfectly well from cold and everywhere in between. Warped discs is a myth, it's pad pickup, which makes itself worse by grabbing harder at (the slightly wider) same point each time the disc goes round. Sand the discs down or get them skimmed, then bed pads back in with hard braking.
Pashley26
Bedded in perfectly, multiple stops from 100 to walking pace until there was smoke pouring off them then drove for fifteen minutes without touching the brakes at all. Maybe I am asking too much of them, or expecting too much. I want to change the pads, before the upcoming sprint day. I'm just not happy with them, either it's my insistent use of crazy wheel cleaners constantly or that I've done something wrong. But either way I don't like them so they've got to go. AdamR28
Fair shout. My guess is on too much cleaning product Out of interest, which Mintex did you get on with?
Pashley26
M1177's, outstanding bad boy pads. Love those things so much, they just worked no matter what you did. Face hurting stopping power.
craigjames
Is that with 323mm LCR discs? Wasn't sure if you could fit them on the larger discs. Never used the Ferodo pads myself, just everyone seems to rant about them. What brakes are you thinking of going to?
Pashley26
Yup 323's. I've got vented EBC discs. Thinking of going up to 3000's or finding some non road use race pads. Once you've had brakes like that, you'll never go back.
SamKidney
Poorly Vauxhall is poorly. Found metal in my oil. Whole engine (almost) in bits at work this afternoon, shells seem to have faired half decently, camshaft caps/bearing surfaces are okay Lots of engine flushes and fresh oil, quieter and no more metal. I know it's on borrowed time though, so what am I looking at realistically for a second hand lump from breaker? I have a new timing chain kit and full set of gaskets so as long as what I get is mechanically sound itll be okay.

Brakes are the next thing on my list, the standard A3 brakes are poo (scary).
Luke Rainbird
I know a man who knows a man who knows a man. If I can track down some 312mm carriers for reasonable money then we're golden really.

Pashley26
Prawns got my old 312's. I'm sure £50 will buy them from him. Edited August 5, 2014 by Pashley26

Greetings
M1177's, outstanding bad boy pads. Love those things so much, they just worked no matter what you did. Face hurting stopping power. Yeah, but they absolutely rape discs. An interesting alternative to those two could be Ferodo DS UNO pads. They're made of a different compound than other pads on the market, apparently work from cold to extremely high temperatures and don't wear discs out. I once inquired about these but the price was a bit off-putting, could be because they were available on order only.
Pashley26
I'll have a look at those, thanks for the heads up.
Luke Rainbird
Prawns got my old 312's. I'm sure £50 will buy them from him. Unfortunately not. Still, shouldn't be hard to track a set down relatively cheap - no rush to do it as can stick the standard 288s on for now until I find a set and no need to rebleed after either since I can just change discs/carriers
