craigjames
For some reason the alarm decided to go off every five minutes last night, no idea what is causing it until I can get it scanned with VCDS; don't think it's the siren battery as I've not had it beeping on start up, all the interior lights are working and nothing on the dash to suggest a door isn't locking properly. So took the siren unit out, which Audi decided needed burying in a bloody awkward place. Typically today the alarm hasn't gone off at all. Had a crack at sorting out cloudy headlight lens today, think it's come out OK... definite improvement, although not perfect: Also had some other bits come through in the post today, although still waiting on a few other bits that should have turned up. Was hoping to get it all fitted tomorrow Filter sadly came as a nasty white and red, so thought I might as well get that sorted. Rest of the bits will hopefully turn up on Monday so I can get everything fitted in one go.

craigjames
Craig how did you sort them in the end? Also is that the Honda s2000 filter? 2000 and 2500 wet and dry, just a normal paint cutting and finishing compound. Masked it all off, bucket of slightly soapy water, wet and dried the crap outta them! Then polished and buffed by hand. Come up all right really, unfortunately they've got some decent sized scratches in already; needed some 1000 and 1500 grit to get those out. And yeah it's an S2000 filter, common little mod for 1.8T engines. Shame when you go to ECP to order it you have no idea what colour you're going to end up with. Guess white plastic and red filter element is better than the white and green it could have been!

You must be a top wanker haha Forgive my ignorance but isn't that black and red?! or is that after you'd swapped it or something? I only thought they did it in white/murky white and green and black and red. Same mod for the PD130 too! Honda must be making a small fortune off us VAG boys haha

Would have looked massively gay! Yeah they must be! at £13 quid it was rude not to, need to get a decent feed to it once it's in; which I'm off to do now Hopefully be doing an SAI delete and PCV simplification and catch can install tomorrow.... if my catch can turns up and it stays dry! Azarathal
I've asked this before but forgot the replies. I need a rotary mop/polish thing. Need to blend some stone chips, remove lacquer scratches and swirls etc. Let's say under £100. What rotary, pads, compound etc, going to be using it for buffing the wax too. What wax for a nice long lasting deep shine? I've been using meguirs and simply put its shit.
trials owns
question for the coilover people, want too raise my car about 1 inch or so, if i winded the coilovers down 1 inch would this be the exact amount it would raise my car? my mate says its a completely different ratio? the reason i ask is they was already set up when i installed them on the car. cheers! Have you been applying it correctly? There's no point buffing wax off with a machine polisher. It doesn't reap any benefits mate.
craigjames
Well got the TIP and air filter in, can definitely see why people swap out the TIP. Admittedly that's an SFS oversize TIP, but it shows how comparatively restrictive the standard one is. Also gives reason as to why it was a pig to fit. Distinct lack of space!! PCV/ catch can, N249 bypass and SAI delete tomorrow (if the postie holds up his end of the deal and if I can find someone that sells 330 ohm resistors in Bridgwater... Mr Rainbird has already warned me that I may have a day of suspension and brakes soon.... Edited August 3, 2014 by craigjames

If you measure it out and wind it up or down an inch from where it is now then yeah, you're gonna be about an inch different...

Wrayvon
I think it was the original 220bhp version. Unfortunately the 'R' version was only being used for the 'fast laps' where someone took you round. Still had a lot of fun - overtaking Astons, lambos and Ferraris was quite surreal. J.KYDD
he was confronted with an Impreza coming the wrong way at speed: 140mph combined impact speed. Amazingly everyone got out alive, although they're all pretty beaten about with various broken bones/cuts/other injuries. It's certainly shaken me a bit, seeing a car that I've co-driven in a few times and helped build/maintain for a few years now get so completely devastated. Scary stuff. Holy shit. Mate I had no idea this had happened. Is Ben's dad alright?

Pashley26
Ctrl:V Ctrl:C Went for a bit of a drive yesterday, pulled over to take some pictures of my car and some dodgy looking race car build was in the background. Went for a nice drive with the guy who owned it, he was a nice enough chap. On the way home I discovered one of the best reasons to keep the Recaros for now. Decided I want meth again, fed up with it not working. Its a right mess... Boo. The engine bay is also a bit slack, all the boost hoses were finger tight. Managed to get 3 or 4 turns out of every boost hose clip, two clips were broken...it's a lot nicer to drive now, smoother, more torque, more power. Which means... 500 miles on the clutch, time for a launch. Steering boss is here, Nardi wheel is on the way. Just want to get paid at the end of this month to buy some 595's and get rid of these poop brakes. RobinJI
Holy shit. Mate I had no idea this had happened. Is Ben's dad alright? It sounds like he's doing ok all things considered, but still not exactly perfectly fine. Ligament/tendon damage in his knees from the dash and a few broken ribs purely from the deceleration. I don't know the exact list but it sounded like that was the worst of it. Sadly the tendon damage sounded like it's going to take a while to heal up. Pretty nasty really. Real shame. dann2707
Last weekend's failings... Looks like such a fun but painfully slow car to drive it's clearly not all about the power though, just something i've noticed!
