The Car Thread

Gave the Audi a little bit of love over the weekend, new oil and filters and actually cleaned it (definitely not to Jardo's standards)! Enjoying driving again after owning the 5 series tank for a few years and find i'm accumulating parts for it as quickly as my bank balance will allow.

One minor setback was once I was under the car I could see a small amount of oil seeping from the gearbox:

Checked the filling port and doesn't seem to have lost any oil. Was my intention to change the GB oil anyway, but need to find a replacement part number for the seal and check there are no surprises lurking behind that cover before I swap it out.

Sorry for the poor quality photos, my dad, a camera phone and low light don't tend to work too well.

Anyone up for liking this picture and helping the community out?

It's a contest for the cover of a motorsport magazine which writes about amateur comps. The problem is that some girl submitted a rather poor picture of a Civic (a few clicks back and you'll see it) and probably due to a lot of Facebook friends, her pic will win and end up as the cover. There's little time left.

Did you notice a power increase? Don't suppose you have a photo of the tailpipe on the eBay system? I assume its just a round 3" tube? (Hard to see on photo's).

On a side note, decided to build my own pressure bleeder using an eezibleed and a cheap garden sprayer off eBay (plus a pressure gauge). Not used it yet but should do the job well!

Good work adam!

Craig: my 3'' ebay system really isn't that loud at all. it's far quieter than jardo's S3 system for example. it's also HUGELY cheaper than any other alternative, and really decent quality.

Id be tempted to get the ebay system, spend £20 on an outward rolled tailpipe, and see how you like it. IF you found it too noisey, it'd be about 2 hours work and £40 to add in a proper centre box to drop the noise level right down.

Apparently they do one called G5 but it's even better but lasts only 5 months.

I've got some rain x already in the garage already so gonna give that a try first.

Edit: until I get some more hardcore stuff that is!

Don't! You'll ruin the base for when you put G1 on and it's nigh on impossible to remove the old stuff from a windscreen because of polymers and shit. Technical term right there.
