Azarathal
A -500bhp car would be a strange thing I'd like to see. You know what I mean gunna be pretty sweet actually having some car friends and I get to go japfest. Any of you f**kers going this year? RobinJI
Lovely old car! What does that gauge measure? Yeah it's the temperature gauge, as well as being the radiator cap. It's a detail I particularly like, even if it is a bit tricky to read from the drivers seat!
JDâ„¢
You know what I mean I know you meant ~500bhp, yea Sorry, pedantic mood!
Azarathal
Forgot to mention in my previous post, what's going on with the TF car meet?
Luke Rainbird
Stuck on a set of 256mm rears with new discs and pads all round yesterday. Nice to have decent brakes again but there are a few funky grinding noises going on with wheels approaching full lock. Hoping it's just things settling in. Also popped a 3" downpipe and sports cat on while the car was on ramps, but it's led to nothing but blowing, nasty noises and somehow ridiculously shit fuel consumption. Putting the stock DP/cat on again in the morning. Lame.
Greetings
I've got an arch roller too, bit of a trek though! Used the same method on the M3, recommend using a wooden pole. Works very well if you do it carefully.

Putting the stock DP/cat on again in the morning. Lame. If it's blowing much before the lambda that'd account for the bad economy. If it's all sealed up properly then it shouldn't have any effect on fuel consumption on a turbo car, might be worth seeing if you can seal it up unless it's awful? Luke Rainbird
Yeah should be able to check it all out properly on the ramps in the morning so if it's patchable I'll go down that route. Have had a fair bit of smoke too, but hoping that's down to any release agents/whatever on the DP/cat what with it being new and all. Will double check oil in the morning to try and rule out anything turbo related too!

Greetings
Can someone tell me why there's so few E38 750i's for sale in the UK? I find this genuinely odd, you'd expect to be spoiled for choice. Plenty of 728's which again is rather unusual because those cars are the slowest things on four wheels. Bucky
guessing not many were sold in the first place?
Jolfa
Got any pics of the sil80? Audi failed (as expected) on rear brakes doing pretty much nothing, (they obviously havent for years, theres been some kind testers in its past! ) and the front wishbone bushes are absolutely shot, look to be cheap poly eBay crap... got all new back brakes, braided flexis all round and Powerflex buses on their way Pretty pleased with that!!!!
Pashley26
So I have just got a call from my dad, the head for the engine we bought the other day is knackered. It's obviously just been thrown together to sell from an abandoned project, it's warped so far out of tolerance that it cannot be skimmed into a reasonable standard. Bums. Jake.
Used the same method on the M3, recommend using a wooden pole. Works very well if you do it carefully. Yeah? Is it easy to tell when you're about to crack the arch?
Greetings
Yeah? Is it easy to tell when you're about to crack the arch? I had some filler and yes, that did crack but I'd be quite surprised to see the arch itself crack. Probably depends on the car. It's imperative to take it slow and not rush it, the guys in the video look like they were in a bit of a hurry and couldn't care less about the looks. Then again, I didn't care too much either, if it was my daily driver I'd like a slightly better job to be honest.
Jake.
Ah nice one thanks, will get back to you on how it goes this weekend. I'm also thinking of sticking some bigger wheels on the caddy, 15" instead of 14". Problem is its almost rubbing at 14" so will either have to get slightly lower profile tyres or stretch/camber them. I've heard various things about stretch and camber, what are your opinions on it guys? Obviously it's used for racing and it's not so much of a thing to put on a daily but if it's only a teeny bit it should be alright? I hate cars with super stretch and camber, I like it when it's subtle.
Skoze
I did my fronts as an emergency with a craw bar, did the job. Cracked and flaked the paint off, but I just went over that with a rattle can after. Need to do the rears too, but i'll be doing that considerably more 'properly' Just be gentle, steel's surprisingly soft.
Tom Booth
Give it some heat too, heat always helps.
CurtisRider
Yeah warming up the paint will help make it more flexible and it will be less likely to crack
Pashley26
Oh my poor old Ford... So, time to post some pictures. I parked it up almost 5 years ago, haven't touched it since. My dad's shuffled it around the workshop, driven it around the village then parked it back up. But that's about it. When I parked it, she looked like this. Time has not been good to her... Today is the first day I have had my insurance set up on it, so I obviously took it out for a drive first! Over the last week I have stripped and cleaned the brakes, replaced the diff fluid, gearbox fluid, engine oil, brake fluid and clutch fluid, changed lots of bulbs, rewired the dash, cut new HT leads, replaced the points and condenser, repacked the hubs and bearings and dad has welded a few patches on the floor, waxoyled it and put a small patch in the boot. He rebuilt the carb ages ago, it seems fine. This video describes what happens next quite well - http://youtu.be/a9fsB3EZXko So, it drives pretty well. Rain was stopping play, so there is very little I could do to sort the paint. Didn't stop my putting my DA in a bag and gently going for it. I didn't use anything abrasive, just a finishing pad and Black Hole. Then once I had done the whole lot, I just half arsed threw some corona wax on whilst it was soaking wet, smooched it around a bit and them dried the car. Seems to have worked well. So yeah, super happy!! Edited April 25, 2014 by Pashley26

Pashley26
It was an age related plate before, dad had an old Austin Gipsy which was being sold and was MOT exempt and happened to have a very nice 1959 number plate on it. So we transferred it to the 100e, it's a £4000 number plate on a £50 car haha.
