Bucky
so the civic type R is gone. and so has my £4k of debt from the nissan. this is my current motor. As you can see very faded and poorly looked after. the interior is minging and hasnt been cleaned in a long time. The brakes hardly work, clutch on its way out, no radio, broken wing mirror. So i decided to tackle the obvious things first: parts fitted so far: HIDs, Coilovers, Sxi alloys, Pioneer headunit, Fli speakers in rear panels, 25cm sunstrip, wind deflectors, LED sidelights, Vectra C sideskirts Stuff still to do- fix rear brake adjuster, bleed brakes, fix leaky master cylinder, replace carpets and seats, some sort of silly straight through exhaust, maybe better wheels if i decide i can waste money on it. So far it owes me less than £1k. Oh and does 500miles to a £65 tank of diesel. (the nissan did 250 to £70 and civic 230 to £65) Edited April 22, 2014 by Bucky

CurtisRider
I fancied doing the wheels as they have been looking a little tired and i'm fed up with silver. Fortunately I have spare wheels I can fit whilst I do the job so the cars not out of action  I have now got yellow filler primer on as I realised the grey will make the gold look quite dark, fingers crossed it all looks nice when done! Going to do the other 2 tomorrow as I have the day off, then I need to find a suitable top coat
Jolfa
Fixed my launch control, basically stole the speed reading for the diff lock and plugged it into my ECU. This means my launch control only works <1mph and my rear diff stays locked regardless, win win! Edited April 22, 2014 by Jolfa
haydon_peter
I'm going to Canada on 11th May with a 1 year work visa so my practical diesel estate (2004 VW Passat 1.9 TDI 130 Sport) is up for sale, if anyone knows someone that might be interested let me know: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201404223517044/
Greetings
My Vanoses arrived at a German rebuild company and I'm slightly proud to say they were described as being the worst units they ever saw. After checking one unit for good solenoids and finding none, they checked the other unit and found one (each unit has 4). The irony is that rather than connect each solenoid using the factory harness and plug, they found all the electrics (being a plug, cable and diode) fubar on every single solenoid and had to re-solder each of them to one of their own plugs. So on the plus side my Vanos was completely and utterly f**ked beyond a German's worst nightmare and when fixed, it could improve engine performance quite a bit. What's not so fun is what caused this. We don't know and I don't want an 800 Euro rebuild going to pot just because there's something wrong in the engine wiring loom or electrical system on the car. Pashley26
Good times. Insurance sorted for the Pop, no usable no claims, no excess, parked on the road...£103 fully comp. I f**king love being old. Took the head off my new engine yesterday afternoon and stripped it down, sending the head off to be pressure tested and leak tested. It seems like a very expensive head. I don't think the engine has ever been run since building, there are no fluids in it other than some smears of assemble oil and grease. The pistons are immaculate and everything is so tight. Fitting a new speedo cable this afternoon, dropping the oil from the old engine and giving it a bit of a service so I can start using it daily again whilst I build this engine.
Skoze
Been looking at insurance for the Capri too, best so far is £400 fully comp with Elephant through some comparison site (it actually worked for a change) - could've been £350 but Admiral apparently don't cover suspension mods... Who do you guys recommend looking at? Glad to hear the good news about the pop Jardo, that thing's a honey. Still thinking silly conversions or keeping it period now? MadManMike
I use Brentacre for anything modified. Greenlight are apparently quite good, but wouldn't touch mine as it was previously Cat C.

Jolfa
Greenlight for me too (and a mate), my Audi (and his Sil80 drifter) with all mods declared came in at £340 (ish, each), and they'll cover anything that doesn't increase bhp for no extra cost Edited April 23, 2014 by Jolfa

Jake.
Not sure if I've posted about it before... Basically the arches on the caddy need rolling as it keeps rubbing the tyres, I also need a new set of tyres now cause of that. Anyone got any suggestions how I should roll the arches? I hear it's about 50 quid per arch if you pay someone, sounds so much. Been told a heat gun and a baseball bat works but not sure how I feel going about that... CurtisRider
Sprayed my wheels, but can't really afford balancing until I get paid next week so that's kinda annoying! Rolling on spare wheels anyway
LukasMcNeal
That arch rolling video is so ghetto, yet rather clever.
RobinJI
Jardo, Awesome, so glad you'll be back in a proper car. Paul, those look great. Was that from rattle cans or a gun? Should really suit the Porsche. A few quick shots from Mondays random trip to the beach, there's a lot of fun to be had puttering around the countryside in this thing: The destination, West Bay: A quick stop at Pilsdon Pen on the way home: The view from the top:

CurtisRider
I'd love something that old! Wasn't the owner a trials rider and on here at one point? Wheels are now on, haven't totally taken to them yet but they will probably grow on me
RobinJI
I'd love something that old! Wasn't the owner a trials rider and on here at one point? Yeah, he was into trials for quite a while, back when I actually rode regularly too! He's an old school friend and I still go mountain biking with him occasionally. I've got a huge amount of want for something vintage sooner or later. Probably lightly rodded or a mild special (just because I like playing with things.) I really can't wait to be in a possition where I've got space for a few cars! Just the 2's a bit of a struggle at the moment space wise. The Porsche looks good, I like the gold personally. I think your idea of gold centers and white lips would work well reversed, with the lips gold and the centers white. Oh yeah, this came up behind us while we were trundling home in the Jowett, this was the best shot I could get over my shoulder with my phone!:
CurtisRider
Why does everybody else see a Commer and not me? Never seen one in the tin apart from mine! Hot rod kinda thing is what i'd like to own, but then i'd like to own many vehicles :$ Looking for a 944 with a dead engine currently for my next project
Azarathal
So one of my neighbours owns a +/- 500bhp scooby and has a spare japfest ticket, just checked and I have that weekend and the following week off!
