AdamR28
I think my definition of a shed is different to yours! I'd class all of my cars as a bit sheddy... Speaking of sheds, have booked Blyton Park track day for this Saturday if anyone's free and wants to pop along.
Danny
don't say that. Mine expired in September, must get round to sending off those forms! I saw one of those 'police interceptors' kind of program on tv and the woman forgot to renew hers. Turns out after X years your licence basically gets forfeited so she had been driving without a licence for 15 years
RobinJI
So I went and got the MX-5 at the weekend: Yes, that is a very big, gay wing. By the end of the weekend I'd checked it all over and pulled the front bumper off: Then this evening I spent a while playing with seating positions (trying to get the seat a touch lower) before having a look at my idea of fitting a 1.8t VW throttle body. This is because the MX-5's throttle body doesn't have a proper position sensor in it, and has a messy and somewhat clumsy by-pass idle control system on the side, as well as bits of vapor control emissions stuff built into it. The 1.8t VW throttle body controls idle by simply electronically tweaking the throttles position and has a proper position sensor in it. Also, I've got a spare. It looks promising, amazingly 2 of the mounting holes actually line up and the air-path its self's easily close enough that I can port out the manifold to match it nicely. The other 2 mounting holes are close enough that slotting the manifold slightly will get them in. Just need to look into the mods the ECU will need to control the idle with it. I knife edged the butterfly while I was at it too, probably won't make any difference, but every little helps and I felt like tinkering with something as the sun was shining. CurtisRider
I was wondering about fitting a single butterfly, larger bore TB to my car to replace the double butterfly setup (like on the mk2 golfs). Looks like a 944 one isn't far off being able to fit How much difference does it really make apart from a slightly more responsive throttle? Brake fluids... is that ATE Blue stuff all it is cracked up to be? Even though I have already flushed my system recently, I am rebuilding my rear brakes (fronts already done) and so i'll be needing more fluid and wondered if this stuffs really worth the extra? AdamR28
Unless you're spanking the car on track its not needed, just get bog standard stuff from motor factors, tis good stuff though.
haydon_peter
I much prefer to keep the car looking remotely smart. Just the duct tape holding my air dam together at the moment is thoroughly annoying me! Paint the duct tape black
george_seamons
I'be just ordered 2 litres of ATE superblue, which is going in on Sunday, so will be able to tell you!
Greetings
Some outside shots from Saturday. Really liked how they organised the first round in a completely open area so that we could get re-acquainted with our cars after the winter break without the risk of hitting anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxlhq5jk8nM Really happy with the suspension stiffness, might increase the ARB stiffness on the rear but other than that it seems pretty much bang on. There were some bumps my competitors were complaining about and I didn't even know what they were talking about. And the winner in a 600bhp/tonne toy car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_g1nY9uV_A
MadManMike
What engine does the Exige have? The M3 looks nice and sticky

forteh
What engine does the Exige have? Something supercharged I think? Alex, is that with the new lower rate springs? It looks far more planted Edited April 8, 2014 by forteh
LukasMcNeal
1.8l supercharged I think
AdamR28
Supercharged Type R engine I think.
Greetings
I'm pretty sure it's a supercharged K20. Over 400bhp apparently. Alex, is that with the new lower rate springs? It looks far more planted Yep. Much much better Edit: Finally got in touch with someone who can rebuild my Vanos. Been calling a UK company for 4 days in a row but nobody is answering the phone. Finally settled for a German one which is much more expensive and does not offer the full service though I do trust German workmanship more than British. Need a new clutch too and Michelin S9S tyres. Hate to think how much all this is going to cost Got 1 month to get the car into reasonable shape. CurtisRider
944 handbrake lever swap to replace my bent up and wobbly 924 one! So much smoother and my handbrake works really nicely now after some fettling

CurtisRider
If you notice in the second photo I have actually done a half arsed attempt at hoovering... Not that fussed about the interior until I dye it all the proper brown again, it has gone a weird green in most areas!
Jolfa
Plain copy and paste from my build elsewhere, too tired to condense it like I normally do Standard RS2 VS S2 turbo pic Had to start modifying tools to fit the bloody thing! Got it mostly back together That inlet was a nightmare to fit as the throttle fouled the power steering pump so I had to make an adapter, which left very little room for radiator hoses! Did a bit of subtle beautifying... And now I'm just waiting for my ECU back from Estonia, some coolant and some petrol! ...Then clutch and MOT
Skoze
Capri passed it's MOT with one advisory on front wheel bearings needing tightening a little, whey. Now for the future... In order of expense/ effort, my shopping list looks like this; 15x8 Revolutions and some decent tyres - finish off my attempt at making it handle. LSD - improve the drive when giving it some/ make it go sideways better. New engine/ tune the Essex - it needs the bite to match the bark. What order would you guys do that in?
AdamR28
Decent tyres first, engine last.
JD™
If I were you I'd be looking into that steering rack lark you were mentioning in your PH article – that's gotta be the cheapest thing that could still be wrong handling wise?
Skoze
already fixed! that article was about two months old, they kinda forgot I sent it to them Turned out one of the track control arm bush had disintegrated. that was my thinking Adam, it's pretty much 'in order' there but the temptation to put a slipper in is huge...
manuel
Surely with a Capri, you want an LSD, a ton of beans, shit tyres and smoke billowing out behind you wherever you go?
