CurtisRider
More noise if that's not your kind of thing. I didn't notice a change in my fuel economy, car seemed more responsive at the throttle. Advantages of less weight are also cool, stiock back boxes are hefty! LukasMcNeal
Does it pass emissions on an MOT? Or do you have to change it back.
MadManMike
Yeah I was wondering about emissions too... Where's the cheapest place to get one knocked up? (Don't say do it yourself, I barely have enough tools to tighten a wheel, let alone weld on some tubing )
Jolfa
On the matter of exhausts, I just finished putting this together this evening - (It's exhaust paste incase I missed any tiny holes, my welding isn't amazing and primer to keep rust at bay ) Need to adjust the mount bracket a touch so it sits a little higher, but overall I'm pretty pleased! Had to make it because I didn't realise that a B4 model has a completely different layout That's how it started Edited March 31, 2014 by Jolfa
N.Wood
Held on by a single zip tie? Haha excellent.
CurtisRider
Emissions were fine, no worse although my cat stayed put. You may be able to cut the box off and then use clamps to fit a bit of pipe on along with a clamp on tip, I can;t remember what a Leon setup looks like anymore! Jolfa
No, there's a jubilee clip out of shot, the mount you can see is entirely unnecessary, just seemed rude not to use it as it lined up there so nicely
Tom Booth
Jolfa, get some paint on there, primers pourous so it'll just hold moisture. Then again it is a warm part so might not be too bad.
Greetings
Drove the new M5 today. What a boring and absolutely massive car. Not much more to say really haha. I really don't get the hype around all these M's or for that matter modern super saloons or whatever they're called. I really think BMW hit the nail on the head with the E39 M5 - as much as I found that a bit daft a few months ago, I've learned to appreciate it. Really enjoyed that! A whole lot of expletives came out, you're mental. Cheers The ONLY thing thing that wasn't right with that video was we need more engine noise! Don't know why, i just find being able to really hear how the engine is being worked really adds to any motorsport video. You appear to have a lot of fun competing, certainly comes across that way in your posts. They do look like fun events, a little sketchy, but fun! Yep, I think you're right that the music is too loud. Definitely a lot of fun but with hindsight, some rounds can be dangerous. Need to get a HANS, next thing on the list.
Pashley26
I just fell in love with an 04 WRX STI with the Prodrive pack. It's got 40k, one owner from new, black with gold wheels and a blue STI interior. Literally looks showroom style mint, it's beautiful. It's at the garage across the road from my local petrol station, so I know the lads in there and they said there wasn't a deal to be had on it, it was 8k or nothing. Got back to work and did some browsing and it's probably a 9/10k car going by what else is out there. Decided I was sold on it, then did an insurance quote. No Subaru for me. george_seamons
Car only made 324bhp and 315ftlbs. Not happy The mapper isn't impressed with the exhaust manifold at all. Slightly annoying seeing as it's cost me the best part of £500 to get it on and fitted!
SamKidney
Made an order on a new windscreen, £120 fitted. All my other bits ordered and should be here Tuesday next week. Timing belt kit, rear arm bushes, discs and pads, all filters, New dizzy cap and arm, plugs, roll bar links, cv joints and new plugs and leads. Came to about £160. Needs 4 new tyres, managed to secure a pair of Civic Jordan wheels with 4 good tyres for £160. New exhaust from the Cat back at £50. Car stands me at roughly £500 quid, happy. David
Has anyone got any experience with the new "continuous insurance enforcement" law? I.e. If your car is off the road but is not declared SORN then it requires insurance. I ask as I will be cancelling my insurance policy on my old car and leaving it on the drive (there's plenty of tax left) for a couple of weeks until I manage to sell it. As far as I understand you receive a warning letter in the post first? EDIT: Looks as if you do get a letter first: http://stayinsured.askmid.com/ial.html Edited April 1, 2014 by David
Prawny Baby
not sure on the insurance thing David, sounds shit though! Robbing bastards.Since Jardo sold his good car and bought a crap one, I feel this thread has been lacking in pictures of black A3's!So, to redress that balance, here are some pictures of a black A3 Battered splitter in need of some work!Captain slow at the wheel!
Jolfa
Insure it as a second car on your new/parents/partners policy, risk eliminated!
James Quigley
Keep the insurance on it so that any potential buyer could test drive it without having to fanny around with insurance?
Jake.
Hey guys. Been thinking about spending some cash on the caddy recently, but I was just thinking about one thing. Money into a car to make it run or look nicer, doesn't ever seem to go up in value which is understandable but it kinda sucks. Say you spend a grand it may only go up a hundred or two hundred in value. How do you guys do it? Haha, trying to get the right mentality here to go out and buy stuff.. Prawny Baby
Don't sell it, and you'll never lose any money. That's my take on it!
MadManMike
Does anyone have / can anyone find a photo or drawing of the exhaust on a TDI Cupra / FR 150? I'm trying to find a decent shot of one and all I can find is this one: Ideally I need it showing top view... Cheers in advance!
Pashley26
Why? It's just a straight bit of pipe with a straight up and over bend. Is it dimensions you need, or routing? Edited April 2, 2014 by Pashley26
