Pashley26
This post will seem really boring to some people, in a way it is. But it's copied from another forum I use where the aim of the game is basically to own as many cars as you can and admire the little details. - Today I removed the towbar from my latest acquisition, perhaps that line alone tells you that it is potentially the polar opposite of the Clio RS that received so much attention last week. So where to start with my entirely retarded last weeks worth of car buying? Monday would be a good start! So on Monday I was having a dull day at work, rainy and generally a bit quiet. The highlight of my day up until about 2PM was Clive popping in to say hello (great to meet you, glad I could help!), then the new girl from Fiat asked me to go out and appraise a car which was being offered in PX for her, because it was "an old BMW" and she didn't know anything about it. Went outside to have a poke around and was met with this - I appraised the car, and it was immaculate. I will highlight the only piece of "bodywork" on the entire car, it is a showroom vehicle it really does look like with a few hours paint correction it would have just rolled out of Dick Lovetts. I immediately went across to the used car manager once the deal was done and paid for the car on my credit card. He was not impressed! I sold the Clio on Wednesday night and collected the BMW from work on Thursday morning. I haven't had a chance to do the paint correction yet, or in fact do anything other than an interior wash. I haven't even managed to black the tires or plastics yet. Because down here it has been chucking it down all week until today where we've had 25* blistering heat. Not ideal! However, here she is - No rust! The only piece of bodywork on the entire car, most of which I think will come out with G3 - And some pictures for the detail lovers Factory extra green tinted glass to match the Moreagren paintwork - And matching tinted mirror glass - And the little light on the key - I'm ridiculed on another forum I regularly use because I tell them that every car I have (big or small) is without exception the best car in the world, for at least three weeks until I sell it. This certainly isn't the best car in the world ever, it's shit. But I LOVE the little details, it is so smooth and quiet to drive, it is so original and sweet (for lack of a better word) that I am really enjoying it so far. I do have plans for the car which will ruin it's originality; but E36's look so good slammed on their arse. And if there was ever going to be a time to own a modified E36 then this is the car to do it with because I will never be able to afford such a straight base car again. Thanks for the read guys, this will be my 4th car so far this year so I am doing ok at the moment
Skoze
I got two half decent linked skids out of it in the dry yesterday. Just depends how lethal you are with the clutch kicks. Most people can't get them sideways because they are flids and put 18" G* wheels on them etc. Offer £250 for these and the bloke accepted, worth it or not? http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1423.l2649 Edited July 22, 2012 by Skoze
Pashley26
It's too nice to be a skidder, so G wheels and lowering it is. Boom - I presume I will win these, I bid £490 on them lol My plan is to paint the centers Morea green and polish the lips with polished bolts. Prawny Baby
I always thought the 318IS had M3 bumpers and skirts all round, but yours doesn't that's a shame, aside from that, it looks nice.
Bucky
Jacked the car up this morning to sort out my undertray and surprised to see both wheels came up. Guess the car is quite stiff after all. Look at my 2 lovely dints, still annoyed about them (women drivers eh ) but hey ho they're getting sorted out next month. oh for gods sake, what have you broken now? ha im home all week if you need me. I always thought the 318IS had M3 bumpers and skirts all round, but yours doesn't that's a shame, aside from that, it looks nice. i thought that too, but a friend of mine has also bought a 318is without the M kit on. Seems mine is an 'Mtech' on the logbook so i got the kit(everything apart from the front splitter) well we might aswell see if we can get more BMW photos on one page: this weekend i - fitted and set front camber adj top mounts, removed helper springs, made and fitted rear bump stops, fitted boot popper kit, fitted rear bench, fitted laminX headlamp covers(indicator covers ordered) fitted Spacro Faster steering wheel, fitted fancy cupholders, stripped boot out ready for build and moved the side lights from the main lamp into the corners.

Pashley26
18" Schnitzer type 2's? Are they 9.5J spaced 15mm on the rear? I was lead to believe from the brochures I have bought that the M-Tec kit was never offered on the IS Coupe and that they were all aftermarket. Does look great though! What have you done with your interior? Leather? Edited July 22, 2012 by Pashley26

craigjames
What did you go for sir? 3 series wagon in the end? Ended up getting a 2001 520i SE Estate. Needs a small dent pulling but other wise is in pretty good nick, only done a verified 62.5k and I paid £1200 for it; which I thought was pretty good. Picking it up Wednesday

Greetings
Please don't stop posting, more pics are definely welcome! The colour looks way different in this set of photos? Your cars making me want to save for an m3 even though I know it's financial suicide seeing as I'm a student... Yeah the colour is really strange. Varies significantly depending on lighting, whether it's cloudy, what time of day it is etc. I'd highly recommend this car if you can afford one in decent order which probably means spending around 4 grand. They really are a lot of fun. I think Prawn owned a 3 litre one in the past and thoroughly enjoyed his. I also think he was the one who convinced me to buy one back in 2009. Alex: That's verging on perfection I have to say, it's absolutely beautiful in every way! Love the aggressive geometry up front too! How much camber is on there? One thing I will say though, your cage BADLY needs padding. Door bars, and the diagonal above your left ear too. I'd love to know what the whole build cost, roughly. I think to do something similar here in the UK would be well over £10k. Cheers! Will look into padding. Is there anything specific I should look for or will thick-ish polyethylene foam do the job? No idea about the camber yet because there's a fair amount of work that needs to go into the front suspension and steering before it can all be set up. There's a big problem with heavy steering, not yet sure what the cause is. I'm guessing camber is around -4 degrees now? Not entirely convinced so much is a good idea chiefly due to braking, will find out next week during the first visit on a very tight course. The build cost is not a secret, if you count the value of parts that were transferred from the old car, it'd be around 10k. That's the full rebuild, doesn't include the car or swapping the controls over to LHD. Edited July 23, 2012 by Greetings
CurtisRider
Are the m3s quite costly to maintain? As a general rule of thumb of course, just like common things to go wrong and stuff Just took my girlfriends mums 530d gt for a spin, it's a little bit nice to drive although certainly a motorway cruiser rather than something fun to hack about. It's got just about every toy possible, it's ridiculous how many cool little things it does! only disappointing bit was the engine, it's nowhere near as quick as I anticipated considering its nearly double the bhp of my Saab I was expecting more!
