MadManMike
I never said pull in, I said stop. There was three places you could have stopped, but you chose to carry on and get stuck. Anyway, agree to disagree, as we have varying opinions clearly.
dann2707
My apologies mate, you did! But yeah, I suppose so but i'm not being bullied out of the way for her mistake. And if everyone is all happy and wanting to make peace and keep with the flow are you saying you should brake for people who are trying to merge on the motorway by speeding up in front of you when you're in the first lane? As you're a considerate driver and thinking for others, I pretty much doubt it. Rules are there for a reason.
Mark W
Or swing into that f**king massive junction when she clearly had no option to pull in, but was already on the single file bit. Like everyone's been saying, it didn't really need to come to that. Yeah, theoretically your right of way, but if she's already in a section where she can't pull in anywhere it doesn't really benefit you in any way just steaming on along there right up next to her. ...are you saying you should brake for people who are trying to merge on the motorway by speeding up in front of you when you're in the first lane? If you think there are going to be people merging onto the motorway next to you, you can either pull into the middle lane to let people out or just ease off a bit? It's not ideal, but scrubbing off a little speed isn't the greatest hardship. This is coming as someone who spent 4 years doing 50+ miles on the M65/M6/M55 every day... EDIT: I'm not just saying this to be contrary or anything, but for the most part I'm not in Super Serious Mode when I'm driving and I'm pretty content to just adapt to whatever's going on around me rather than maintaining line/speed just because I think I ought to be able to, even if it doesn't suit the situation. EDIT #2: Fun Fact - the only real roadrage incident I've ever been involved with happened on the M65 when some guy in a Scirocco tried joining the motorway on a fairly blind sliproad at Mach 10 when I was just breezing along in the first lane at 70. I'd checked the sliproad when I was in a position to do so and couldn't see anyone, but he'd entered it so fast that by the time I got to the end he was already next to me. He had to slow down, hit rage mode and it all culminated with him brake testing me for the next few miles to the point when we were down to sub-20mph in the fast lane (no-one else was around). Fun times
dann2707
I do 70 miles a day on the m1 and m62 I'm quite aware of what I can do haha but when you've got traffic in the middle lane, as i'm sure you'll be quite aware, that's not always possible... Mark W
I know, that's why I mentioned scrubbing speed off. If we're getting into a commute-based dick measuring contest, when I have to commute to work I have to do a roughly 280 mile round trip taking in the joys of the M5, M42, M6, M1 and M69
Mark W
Part of it is also a mistaken and deluded belief in some kind of driving-related karma. I used to (and occasionally still do) just boot the f**k out of it on motorways all the time, and used to sometimes try and make gaps going onto motorways and stuff like that. I've had people just let me in in the past and always appreciated it, so when I'm not trying to send it I just chill and let people who are do so. Same way that when I commuted to TartyBikes from Blackpool there was a beasting shortcut that took loads of time off the Blackpool leg but relied on people being kind and letting me onto a main road. People used to all the time, so I made sure that I did the same for other people.

As you're a considerate driver and thinking for others, I pretty much doubt it. Rules are there for a reason. You can't compare the two scenarios, they're totally different. Though if you want my opinion on the motorway, yes I usually pull into the middle lane or would speed up a little to let someone on easier. I don't have to, but why not? It doesn't cause me any problems doing that. I'm rarely in the "slow" lane anyway, but if I am I would usually help others out. If you're going to be that anal about rules, do you ever speed or put your foot down at an amber light?
JDâ„¢
If everyone was just courteous during driving, there'd be a lot less road rage. To the people driving at 70 in the outside lane: it's not your job to police me. Pull into another lane so I can get where I want to go, without having to call you any one of the many names I want to call you. We're all drivers trying to get where we're going, sometimes the Highway Code doesn't need to be applied, just logic.
george_seamons
Had a good weekend. Did some bits to my brother in law's Vectra...and fitted some bits to my car: Old discs: Comparison (323mm 1 piece and 330mm 2 piece): New discs on: And finished: Finally, got a 3" exhaust system off ebay, but it was designed for a mk4 golf. The exhaust cutout is further to the left on a golf, so with a couple of 45 degree bends, I managed to get the tailpipe in exactly the right place. Pretty happy with the outcome, it looks exactly the same as the 2.5" system I had on before, but should flow considerably better!

Prawny Baby
Anyone else see Tarty and Bessel representing TF on Motors TV today?Absolutely TOP effort lads! I bet you're both very chuffed Although, having said that.....With the success of Tartybikes, and Adams racing career to date, you'd think he could at least afford a SatNav!

george_seamons
Weird...the J does look wonky in the picture, but its not! I most certainly will not be getting pressed plates. They have been done to death, and they don't suit it in my opinion. I blame the battery being nearly flat. It has also somehow made the car look really tall and skinny. It looks far wider and fatter in the flesh! Thought I'd better take a picture, this is the first time I've washed it in about 6 months. There was an actual layer of dust on the roof, not good. JDâ„¢
I watched Motors TV for ages today waiting for the MX-5s to come on ready to cheer Adam on. It took too long for them to get to you though, so I went to the pub. Sounds like both of you had a good day though, except for the obvious Adam! Pete.M
anybody on here into oldskoolfords? What Skoze said. Something pretty terrifying happened today. I failed again at sorting my brakes so I re-assembled them with extremely dodgy/broken old parts to get me home. Needless to say something exploded (more than once!) on the way home. I'm just glad to be back!

Skoze
'79 3.0S - quite good fun but potentially looking for a new home in the next couple of months. If it stays though, it's getting a Cosworth BOA dropped in asap.

crashbanggg
Hoping someone can help... I drove my car to uni this morning and the steering is feeling pretty light and almost feels as though the car is wandering/ floating over the road and occasionally dives off to the left (but sometimes to the right) I think it was feeling a little odd last night too, but I don't recall hitting any potholes to have knocked the tracking or anything out, any ideas what it could be? Its a mk2 Scirocco if that makes any difference. *edit* Just had a look underneath to find my lower strut brace (Bolted onto the wishbones) was very loose so I presume it was the wishbones (Rather scarily) shifting about causing the random direction changes! MadManMike
My wishbone bushes have gone and I get a similar feeling in my steering. Getting it sorted on Saturday, hopefully the car will feel a bit tighter! The list of stuff I'm having put on is looooooooong, so I better see some improvement!
