Tom Booth
Or an older golf estate, they're bomb proof solid cars.
Jolfa
As a VAG fan, I'd go for an Audi 80 Avant TDI, and run it on cooking oil, can pick 'em up for <£500. As someone looking for an estate workhorse that will do interstellar milage in ultimate comfort - MK2 Mondeo.
Mark W
Only thing that puts me off VW's is from friends experience they tend to be pretty pricey to repair if anything goes wrong. Gav (works at TartyBikes) used to have a Golf that seemed to be fairly sketchy/unreliable, and getting it fixed seemed to generally be quite expensive. I guess I'm just used to driving a shit car that is comprised of fairly agricultural looking stuff that tends to be pretty cheap to buy... Tom Booth
Astra g 1700tdi are a shout too Mark, we had the van equivalent at work that did 250k with only needing servicing and a alternator. Can be picked up for sensible monies too.
AdamR28
Servicing helps, don't think he ever changed the oil in that thing, lol. The Mondeos swallow bikes even in saloon form too.
Mark W
Yeah, I thought the servicing might not be the one, but similarly having the clutch pedal fall off and that mental steering knocking shit is a bit odd, haha. I'll get looking again though. Found somewhere that was doing a pretty reasonable looking Passat Estate for about £849 and were open for PX, so that might be an option. It'll probably be a little easier than just burning this cunting car out.
Pashley26
When I said EK9, I meant EP3. I don't know why I wrote EK9. Anyway, it's really shit. 134k, loads of owners, bodywork is trashed, interior is ruined. But it's got vtecyo and it was £500.
Prawny Baby
When I said EK9, I meant EP3. I don't know why I wrote EK9. you probably said EK9 because that's what you'd prefer, Ek9's are lovely. EP3's are driven by chavs Looks rough, but for £500, who cares! Cheap fun that. JD™
I'm confused. Aren't you a millionaire?
craigjames
Could be a whole lot worse than an EP3, that saying an EK9 would have been lovely; got a real soft spot for them. I'd love to be able to afford a EK9 Type-Rx. Why did you buy an EP3 Jardo? Thought you hated everything about them, certainly gave that impression when i had one last year?! Pashley26
I do. It came in PX for £500. So I had to buy it as a cheap bit of fun.
Prawny Baby
I dislike hondas thoroughly myself, they're just not my cup of tea, but if you offered me a road legal Ep3 type r for £500 I'd still bite your hand off! Sometimes, a deal can be too good to pass on, even if it's something you don't want.
dann2707
Yeah and it'snot like hhe's shoving it down our throats that it's the best car in the world... Yet
Pashley26
I promise you I never will. I think I'll be able to double my money on it without even filling out the logbook though, I've already been offered £800 from one of the mechanics at work. The MOT runs out tomorrow, and it has no tax. I've told him for a grand he can have it. We'll see. I wasn't joking. It's really shit. History is good. Pashley26
And just because. It sounds SO FAAAAAST but it really isn't. Anyway, the MOT runs out tomorrow. I assume it will fail on lots, if it looks like it needs more than £300's worth of work I'll sell it. In the mean time, I'm going to thrash the crap out of it today whilst I can. AdamR28
Good to see you warmed it up fully before you spanked it, haha. That's a massive bargain...
dann2707
Bargain. But the VTEC noise is so like, over rated haha
Danny
Its a Honda. It will pass an MOT without breaking a sweat. My 1993 delsol only ever needed a CV boot in 4 years. Give it a 'Jardo' clean and triple your money.
Pashley26
Bargain. But the VTEC noise is so like, over rated haha It sounds SOOOOO fast, I felt like I was in an episode of Best Motoring International. Then I looked down. Hopefully it passes it's MOT, if so then great. Otherwise I've been offered £1000 for it if it fails, and I am sure I can sell the Vtec controller on for £150. Which I think is the best option. I've done about 150 miles in it today, really enjoyed thrashing the bajesus out of it to be honest. The engine is a cracking little unit, shame the rest of the car around it is shit. It's been spot on today, cannot fault it.
James Quigley
How do you fancy trading it for a 328i touring? I'm getting a little tired of the awesome fuel economy.
Mark W
If you're feeling a little jaded about your awesome fuel economy, general reliability and ability to steer consistently, I've got a Rover I'll swap with you
Jolfa
Love VTEC, there's nothing quite like the look of sheer devastation on a Civic owners face after a rolling road pull, and for this Honda, I thank you
greg1040
Looks sweet. And golf r with 500bhp

bing
Servicing helps, don't think he ever changed the oil in that thing, lol. The Mondeos swallow bikes even in saloon form too. My mk3 zetec a tdci saloon would easily fit 2 stocks in the back with wheels on and seats down, it would take 4 people with 4 mods with the front wheels out
