Pashley26
Yesterday, I was approached by some random man in the service lane after doing a stinking lap in an M3 race car, who told me I drove really well, and he would like to come out on the ice stage with me to help me drive quicker. He showed me some lines, gave me some tuition and nodded a lot. We got back to the service lane and he asked me if I wanted to go to his workshops to look at his cars. Turned up to an industrial unit just off the Norwegian boarder in Sweden. Holy. Shit. He gave me a hat and signed everything I had on me. Today he has arranged for his PA to take me to his circuit to drive some of his cars. Last night in the bar he joked about me coming to Sweden to work for him. Un real.

David
As my Clio is on its last legs I am looking for a Cupra again. Preferably around 2004+ with reasonable miles and black or grey/silver. Please drop me a message if you know of one going!
Skoze
Anyone know someone who can recon heads? Now my uni assessment's over, naturally i'm back to looking at car stuff. I've got the Rover mounts and stuff, but bellhousings are looking increasingly more expensive and the likelihood of getting one that'll fit my Type 5 is pretty slim. Part of me is still saying just re-build the Essex and put some funky stuff on it. Cams are cheap, i've got a mate who could potentially bore it out a bit depending on where i can get some pistons from, and i've got some Stage 2 heads sat in my garage that never got fitted to My dad's Capri 20+ years a go. Needless to say, they're not gonna bolt straight on but they don't look in too bad shape and would probably clean up. Is it something I could look into doing myself? And if so, how the f**k do I clear out the inside of 'em? Blasting?
MadManMike
Any remote central locking wizards on here? I'm trying to get my remote central locking to work and I've found some re-setting procedures which I can't try yet as my car is still in the garage being fixed. Some forums talk of a plastic chip that can fall out when you open the fob, does anyone know if said plastic chip is still in or has been lost?? I've only just bought the car and have never taken a fob apart so not really sure what should be in there!
MadManMike
Just had it confirmed that there's a bit missing... Looks like I'll be replacing the whole thing then. No rush though, never had remote central locking before so I'm not missing it lol.
Luke Rainbird
Should be a transponder (small glass tube) in the part with the key blade I think, sure it's not just that bit? Edit; Read the bloody post properly, Rainbird!
RobinJI
Luke, the transponder's for the immobiliser, rather than the locking, if the car starts then it's present and correct. Afraid I can't help with the central locking, never had a VAG car with it from the factory. Skoze, what sort of condition are the heads in? were they used before your dad got hold of them or are they new? Personally I'd remove the valves to check the stems and guides look in good shape, then if all's well find a local machinist/engine builder and get them to chuck them in their acid bath overnight and pressure test them. That should get them clean and confirm their condition, for fairly minimal outlay. Co-driving over the weekend went well, we managed 9th in class (out of 30) and 27th overall (out of 101), and Ben got an award for 'best under 25'. The car was mostly faultless, a sticking clutch made getting to the start line a little interesting, but was fine when being pushed on stage, and we managed not to put a mark on the car despite over 1/3rd of the competition dropping out from breakdowns and crashes in the awful weather, only 63 of the 101 entrants actually made it to the finish! Our times over the last couple of stages where we were getting into the stride of things properly were a good few places higher too, with a couple of times in the top 20. I've got a few pictures in my work e-mail that a college took, which I'll stick up here when I get a chance, and we're waiting for a CD of photos to come through from the event organisers. Going back to what has been said about the obstacles used on the courses that greetings competes on never being allowed in the UK, we were faced with a warning that the course had been lined with concrete filled oil-drum and large rocks, or if you were lucky 1/4 ton hay bails the help prevent damage to the land-owner's property! They took out a fair few cars but luckily no one got hurt.

Yeah it's definitely not there, the transponder is housed in the actual blade part that attaches to the fob in my photo. I don't have the blade part. Not too fussed, just thought if I could get it going for cheap I'd give it a go...

Greetings
These coilovers came as a replacement for the separate spring + damper setup. They were supposed to arrive in June 2013. Hope they've converted the spring rates properly, I hate seeing "Racing" written on springs which are meant for rally. Racing could mean they're linear, no? This in conjunction with different camber arms should allow for big drops for smooth comps and 610 as opposed to 650 tyres. Still need to do the VANOS, install a CF roof, plastic doors and hopefully the car will be ready for the upcoming season.

I think they may have been used at some point as one looks like it's had a gasket under it at some point, but overallt hey do seem decent, just a little concerned about what they may be like inside. I'll try and get them cleaned out and dipped and see where we are, I know they've been ported so would quite like to convert them to stage 2 or 3 if it all possible, not got a lot to lose! I think the valve seats in the current ones are a bit tired and may account for some of the oil it's using, so I do wanna swap the heads if it stays. It'll either be that or needing a re-bore!
