MadManMike
Inur, that was great - I bet that car is so much fun!
Luke Rainbird
The calipers are all the same Luke, it's just the carriers that change. Cheap and easy to post. Xxx Carriers yes, but with discs a little more. Happy to do so though if they're of use to anyone
Mark W
I'm away 21st-28th Jan Luke, but if you happen to be in Bristol at any other point soon let me know, we can go touch dicks somewhere or something like that.

Bucky
Who is it on here who bought an S14 recently? Was it Bucky? you are correct how may i be of assistance?
Pashley26
Just wondered how you were getting on with it, I have been looking about at cars and an S14 falls in my budget. I have always liked the look of them, and I have seen some great track builds and time attack builds. So I just wanted to know a bit more about them, from somebody who has had one but won't be overly biased about them. Basically what I want is a 3/4000 car, that will go well, handle well, easy to get bits for and work on and will be reasonable to drive daily. It has to be reliable, which I know is very car specific. But generally I believe the SR to be a good engine, but things like turbos are the weak link? How true is that? I know it is a bit of a pointless exercise because I probably won't buy one, but I would still like to know if you have the time
*gentlydoesit
No help with that question, and posing another I suppose thought about a skyline? The rb engine is tough, spares are plenty and in gts spec plenty daily driverable. I drove one for a month or so a few years back and was suitably impressed, had a gtr for a few days, it was a differnt animal entirly, and thirsty. MadManMike
So the tow truck going to rescue my car today broke down too. Fantastic. When I get the car back, I need to put some elbow grease in - can someone recommend some good polish / clay bars that aren't too pricey? I'm not that familiar with the cleaning process when it comes to messy paintwork, I would assume a clay bar, then polish and then wax to finish? I'm not that familiar with the cleaning process when it comes to messy paintwork, I would assume a clay bar, then polish and then wax to finish? A meg's kit from Halfrauds isn't bad! Comes with 2 bars of clay, some polish/wax and a micro fibre and quick detailer. Thorough wash, clay bar to remove 'contaminants', polish, then seal it all in with a good quality wax. If your on a budget or just not wanting to spend a grand on wax, Poorboys Natty blue wax is really good. I've found it easy on and off and lasts for a good while. It might be worth looking into tar remover as well mate. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_253057_langId_-1_categoryId_255233 Edited January 21, 2014 by Sam T
MadManMike
Cheers for the link mate, that looks like an option. Anyone have experience with Sonus SFX-1 or G3 scratch remover? The Poorboys stuff you mentioned seems to have good reviews, I reckon I'll go for some of that.
Luke Rainbird
Can you grab a photo of what you're trying to sort out? Would give a decent indication of the level the product needs to work at
MadManMike
Well I would do, but the car isn't very nearby at the moment I can give you a good idea though - the paintwork is pretty f**ked and I'm not expecting miracles, I just want to tidy it up as much as possible without paying for a respray. In terms of damage, it's mostly scrapes from other vehicles - some is soft white paint that I think will polish out OK, other parts are slightly deeper and probably won't come off so well. The car also has dents on some panels, so I'm certainly not looking at show quality, I just want to get as much of the bad stuff off as possible. dann2707
Can anyone tell me if my lower wishbone ball joint looks like it's going into the hub knuckle enough? Looks to be like that taper should be going into it more but i've tightened it up as tight as it will go. Just not sure if I should have undone the 3 bolts to the left first, tightened the ball joint up then done up those 3 bolts again. The front of the car just still feels slack and if I haven't done it up right then that'll be why! [/im The car doesn't wander so I doubt they're wrong but just checking. *gentlydoesit
Any thread sticking out the top of that bolt?
CurtisRider
Get the car on stands, then put a jack under the arm and lift it up a bit to see if the ball joint settles into position
dann2707
There is around 1 mm of thread showing, and I did that matey! It didn't budge which lead me to believe it was in correctly but i'm still not sure.

Azarathal
So I know you're probably all sick of me going on about mr2's but I think I've found "the one". Fell in love with it straight away, perfect colour, tbar, alright condition etc. probably gunna opt for the rev5 spoiler as I don't like the do-luck one and i'll either keep the 17" Rotas for now or I'll try fine some 3 spoke advan sar's in 16". Gunna view it this weekend hopefully http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/toyota/mr2/toyota-mr2-gt-t-bar-coupe--------------1999/2005788
Luke Rainbird
Nice one dude. I can't claim to know anything about them but it certainly looks to be a clean example so if the price is right, get involved! Edit; Dann, that doesn't look right to me at all. Gotta be worth redoing it for peace of mind at least I'd have thought - if it solves the weird feeling then even better.

dann2707
Luckily when I replaced mine I saved the old wishbones and i've fitted the old one back on one side to see if it's going to make a difference. New problem now though, boost leak f**ks sake this car! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQbZ-PTb9jw
*gentlydoesit
Don't know why but that vid made me giggle Is that one of those push on clip things? If so they're all shit! Some kind of sealer or replace the pipes is the best bet, I think there's an o ring in there that could be replaced but the clips ware and that's the problem. If its not one of those set ups then disrigard this post and call me names
dann2707
I know what you mean, the vag connectors with the aluminium lugs. But it's the other side of that connector, the part where the lugs are are actually sound in this pipe funnily enough. It's the actual seal of the plastic connector to the pipe, must be running some mad boost for it to cause that to leak. Hard to explain what I mean but basically it's where the plastic joins the pipe is leaking.
James Quigley
TROYston is that an m52? I always get a little mayo on the filler cap after short journeys but never the breather pipe. What's the dipstick/coolant like?
TROYston
TROYston is that an m52? I always get a little mayo on the filler cap after short journeys but never the breather pipe. What's the dipstick/coolant like? Yup it's an m52b25, not happy at all with the amount of mustard muck! Dipstick is fine and coolant levels dropping slowly though My cars driving like a right nail! Cutting out when coasting to a stop 60% of the time, very lumpy idle, dials sit flat but you can feel the car juddering as if it wants to go. Last night I held it at 800rpm for 10 second and it cut out once I let off the throttle, no gurgle, no attempt at saving itself it just died. Start up takes 3-4 cranks and then it fires in 3 lumps to life. Any ideas?
