MadManMike
Unlucky dude, that really sucks Is that £650 including a brand new turbo? Nope, re-con. Problem is, I didn't have any choice - I had to sort something today as I'm back in Bristol now for work, wherever I was to get it done, I had to give them the key, which I could only do today. If it was in Hastings or Bristol I could have left it and shopped around, but because it was stuck in the middle of nowhere I had to get it sorted I hope it doesn't ruin the experience too, right now I hate the damn thing. dann2707
Think I want another car I've an urge to get a clio 182Mike don't pay that. A guy on briskoda would probably be able to get you one at half that price same guy where I got my hybrid 130 for £

A guy on briskoda would probably be able to get you one at half that price same guy where I got my hybrid 130 for £350 Yes but it would cost me £400 to tow it to him...? I can get all the parts for about £400, but then I've got to get them to Hastings and then get it all fitted, so really I won't save anything, plus there's the possibility of me getting the wrong parts, having to send them back and travel to and from Hastings / Bristol again, at the cost of £100 a time... For the sake of saving a hundred, I could lose more... Plus this way I'll get a warranty and receipt and know it's done properly, rather than a mate bodging it on. bing
Clio 182's rock. Thinkdougie off here who I ride with has a Clio trophy, no125 out of 500. It's well nice. Proper minimalist interior though. And the rear boot struts aren't strong enough to hold the lid up for some reason. Clio v6 spoiler rings a bell? MadManMike
Fair enough. Reckon the guy knew it was about to die? Nah he didn't, he's a mate and definitely not like that - he listed every little detail that was wrong with it and he's offered to help out with costs. Jake.
Feel like I may be a complete idiot and missed it completely, but where is the introduction thread/topic section on retrorides???
Luke Rainbird
Gutted for you, Mike, but glad you're getting it storted. Hopefully once that's done it should be in a good state to just tidy up as you go. May head up the county next week, will let you know if I call in to Bristol and say hi. Occasionally have rude thoughts about pd150s myself but then I realise that's silly given that I have the 20vt. Edit: Would it cost much more to pick up a bigger turbo and a remap instead?! Dan6061
Air ride is happening... Got a problem with the front bags at the moment, so they're not fitted yet. Have rear air installed and working though! http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=455226&page=9

forteh
Bloke from the ford garage said about 80 quid for the lower arms, and 20 quid for the track rod ends and arb bushes - offered to fit and track it all for 65 quid!
Luke Rainbird
Cost is the main issue Birdy, I'm borrowing money just to get this sorted Yeah give me a shout dude! Shall do. Not too sure when it'll be but will let you know. Need anything else for the car? Have a few bits knocking about but can't remember how much your new car's had done. If LCR subframe/rack/arb or 312mm brakes are of any use let me know!

Have a few bits knocking about but can't remember how much your new car's had done. If LCR subframe/rack/arb or 312mm brakes are of any use let me know! To be honest dude I have less than no money, I piled everything into buying it, now I've had to borrow £500 to get the turbo sorted. Looking to get a clutch and cambelt change in the next couple of months, so I'll be saving for that too. Unfortunately no spare change for additional bits. On the subject of clutches, any idea what the standard one can take in terms of torque?
dann2707
Luke how much would you want for the brakes? Do you know if they require anything else for the conversion of my 288s I think they are standard.
Wrayvon
Luke how much would you want for the brakes? Do you know if they require anything else for the conversion of my 288s I think they are standard. Are you sure 312s will fit under the 16s we have? I imagine it would be very tight
dann2707
If they're the same as tt brakes I think they fit.
george_seamons
More to the point Luke, why are you getting rid of them?
Pashley26
They do fit under 16's with no issues. Luke bought a full LCR front sub frame, Brembos, hubs, the lot.
Luke Rainbird
Yeah all spares rather than stuff on my car. Dan; same as the standard brakes on an S3/TT yeah. Pads and discs have a little life left but the carriers (which seem to go for the best part of £100 alone) are the important bit. Caliper itself is the same as 288 I believe. I'm not 100% on whether you'd need anything else to fit them to the Beefer or not mind - certainly don't on something mk4 Golf based so if you're rocking 5x100 hubs and TT setups fit I'd imagine you'd be ok. Edit: Wouldn't be after much for them, tricky bit would be getting them to you as obviously they're fairly weighty. Funds would go towards putting 256s on the rear of my car. I'd imagine they'd fit under 16"s fine as the discs are well within that and the calipers (where I'd expect any interference to occur) were miles clear on my old 17" starfish alloys. Pashley26
The calipers are all the same Luke, it's just the carriers that change. Cheap and easy to post. Xxx
