Greetings
Great looking car. My mate has those ACS wheels on his E39, very pretty indeed. Only thing I'm disliking is the rear spoiler, an E46 M3 / E39 M5 style lip would look much nicer. Not sold on the carbon lips on the front bumper too but I guess they look good from some angles. Enoy it! Edited January 11, 2014 by Greetings
CurtisRider
Looks good JD Well some good news on my car.... When I swapped the warm up regulator I noticed the face where the banjo fit have recesses. The new copper washers I used had too large an OD and therefore I was not getting a good seal. I reused the old copper washers and it has been tons better, I shall order some new ones in the right size just so its all fresh there. The starting has been so much better since reverting to the old washers, less embarrassing when I pop to the shops.... Today I fitted a few bits and bobs. I bought all the bits and pieces I needed to make a new crank breather hose and assembled that Old hose was fairly tired! Whilst I was there I noticed that my throttle body had some play in the linkage due to the nylon bushes falling apart. I have been having issues with an erratic idle and this explains it as the throttle would have some free play. Luckily I had a spare throttle body in my box of goodies and it had no play, looked far newer and was in tons better condition. I chucked it on, adjusted the idle to the same setting as before, adjusted the cable stop and smiled as i started the car... no erratic idle, and seemingly smoother revving! I have also made a start on a upgraded headlight loom due to the output of my lights being terrible (even with decent bulbs), I have all the wiring cut to length and I now just need to solder/crimp it all together. It should be just plug and play so to speak, I'm hoping to fit it next weekend (waiting on some ceramic H4 sockets as the previous ones I bought have teeny wires going to them) Edited January 11, 2014 by CurtisRider
Haz
Also, I want some seats, something along the lines of Recaro SPGs or Cobra Imola Pro-fits. If anyone sees some for sale let me know! So I accidentally some Recaro Pole Positions... pick them up Tuesday. Massively excited, even though I won't be able to fit them for a while. Long and short, this is cheaper than sorting the 540i. Should be fun. Has some niggles, needs some rust taking from the arches. So far it's been washed, had the wonky splitter unwonkied, and found the problem with the drivers seat. Happy with it for the money. My friend has a Clubsport, very decent for the money. And obviously your welcome to tell me to f**k off... But those are the worst wheel I've ever seen.
JD™
Cheers guys. I'm definitely tempted to swap them over to the ones on the 540, but these have decent enough tyres on them and they're growing on me. I also like the spoiler and lips

RobinJI
Cheers guys. I'm definitely tempted to swap them over to the ones on the 540, but these have decent enough tyres on them and they're growing on me. I also like the spoiler and lips You'll probably find the 540 ones wont go under the arches, the offsets are quite different between the 3 and 5 series. The new car looks nice. Definitely don't scrap the old one, if you don't fix it, it'll sell fairly well anyway, even if it's just for someone to break it. I was hoping to have some nice on-boards from the rally test day today, but pulling in from our first shake down outing (that we didn't have the cameras in for) we found a snapped wheel stud, and lacking any replacement or ability to get the remains of the old one out of the hub, that put an end to our day. Pretty shit. New studs were in the post as we knew these ones were a bit crap, but didn't expect them to go this quickly.
CurtisRider
Has anybody had any luck with those stop leak oil additives? My rear crank seal is leaking and I really don't want to spend any more money on this stupid engine if I can help it. I wouldn't usually consider those quick fix kinda things but seeing as I intend to replace the engine and will scrap the bloody thing then I don't mind trying something out if they do work
Jake.
Caddy needs to have quite a lot welded. Can anyone recommend good places to go?
Dan6061
Made a start on my air ride install, also decided to paint my wheels too! Can't be bothered to copy and paste it all over from Edition38, so just read it here: http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=455226&page=
JD™
A good start with this car. It's a small win, but I set out to sort out the fact that the drivers seat wouldn't move forwards and back today and I've just finished it Apparently a silly bit of design on BMWs part, in that moving the seat fully forwards and back (i.e. to clean inside) would snap the wires to that motor. george_seamons
So I accidentally some Recaro Pole Positions... pick them up Tuesday. Massively excited, even though I won't be able to fit them for a while. I had Pole Positions in my Audi. Absolutely bloody lovely seats, made any other seat feel like sitting on a cardboard box. Really regret selling them when I stripped the car

TROYston
Must admit those recaros look nice. out of question, speaking of bucket seats, what makes certain ones better than others? Looking at buying some but will be used daily!
RobinJI
Comfort, support, strength and weight really. FIA approved tends to speak for the strength of them, composite construction tends to drop the weight a lot, and in most cases make them comfier. It's bloody hard to say without sitting in them really, there's plenty out there than should be good on paper, but actually feel crap to sit in.
MadManMike
5 days to go until I get my car... I survived 27 years previously, but the last 5 days have dragged big time! I can survive, but public transport and lift blagging really does suck.
