alastair34
I'd be tempted by new if I went the Cayman S route, plenty of reviews saying they are a better car even than the 911. Also then get the option to spec it specifically to my needs, but obviously at a cost. Gt3 wise it'd be looking at a used 997 version. Don't think I'd be able to stretch to new there, being as a decent spec starts hitting £118k. Where I was looking there's also a brand new Ferrari garage. Wouldn't be tempted personally, but they don't half sound good! as much as i would like a new car at some point to loss that you would take on that would put me off! at least the gt3 hold there value. is it to use daily or just on weekends? if its a weekend toy car id buy a older turbo 911 from specialist cars malton they have some proper weapons and you will make money on them not loose
JD™
Yea that's the toss up at the moment. It'd be used daily, so I'm bound to lose money either way. The GT3 is definitely going to hold money, but I'm in two minds now. It's a while off still, so plenty of time to mull it over. Have you driven either, by any chance? JD™
Nah, the other car will be whatever I get Hayley. In terms of daily driving, I do 20 miles in country lanes, so it's essentially toy time all the time. The other consideration is that I think the Cayman S is a prettier car than the 911 in its latest incarnation. There's a lot to be said for looks at that level I think. bing
If it were me, it'd be a BMW m5 v10 tourer, and an Ariel atom 3 275. The 300s are a bit too much money
Danny
My insurance renewal just came through on the focus st at £1270 what a joke. A quote with e-sure is £650.

The 300s are a bit too much moneyAgreed, you could get a couple of sweet cars for that sort of money JD! In related news, drove a mate's 350bhp supercharged k20 engined 750kg Exige s1 on track today, what a weapon! Could not believe how well it puts the power down and how easy it was to drive... Oh and supercharger whine is addictive! (Old video of the car, not me driving)

*gentlydoesit
I've driven a 2005 gt3... I wasn't a porsche fan (though were specialists) until I drove that bad boy! Awsome. I did only do a 15 mile ish round trip though, not sure about as a daily driver. Have you thought of leasing one of each for a month, see which you prefer? JD™
Don't worry Adam, this won't affect me coming to race with you at some point. This is merely a road purchase
Haz
Got bored. Purchased wheel studs. Not really sure why except for because racecar?

LiamWood!
As long as they was installed correctly, (unlike mine, damn you local garage) they will be fine. You going to be running extended nuts?
dann2707
My new map is going to be sent to me tomorrow I am incredibly excited! Today i've spent the day fitting a new vac pipe to my diaphragm / I made my own out of boost gauge wire but it works better and looks fairly neat!? The nipple on the new turbo was slightly smaller than the old turbo so the vac pipe was slightly too big of an inner dia. And also been altering my stop screw on my turbo, as it came to be with a bad set up. When testing the actuator movement on VCDS it was stopping it going any further, so it was only going from 960mbar to 1000mbar, only a 40mbar fluctuation when really it should be apparently be between 130-150mbar. Had a few goes at getting it perfect and it now goes from 960mbar to 1100mbar
James Quigley
The joys of fixing a 15yr old brake line. Old nut vs new... I decided running the new line over the fuel tank again wasn't worth the hassle.
err
^ I'm guessing you don't own a flare nut spanner Dan I'm starting to get a bit jealous of your build, you're making me want forced induction again!
dann2707
Cheers! haha I mainly post here though if you ever want a little ready http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/292840-daniels-seat-ibiza-sport-pd130/page-4#entry3567025
James Quigley
No flare nut spanner, haha. Was pretty well corroded anyway, the vice grips done the trick though.
george_seamons
Dan, the hose supplied with boost gauges is utter shite. Any sign of heat and it melts. Highly recommend you replace it with silicone vacuum tubing.
dann2707
Not sure what my inner and out dia should be for this new turbo It's cheap enough on eBay so I should order some. The thing is, the connector on the N75 is pretty large but the connector on the diaphragm is tiny as shown above, any recommendations on what I could do? I can measure tomorrow the actual sizes if it helps And thanks for the heads up George
george_seamons
All vacuum tubing I have ever used is 3mm ID. As for the larger sizes, it's surprising how much it will stretch. Other than that, you can get barbed couplers to go from one size to the other (like the T piece you used for the boost gauge).
trials owns
Complete brake failure! Turned out my road down the hill, Bam, Foot went straight too the floor. dann2707
Yeah, it's now not as laggy in first or second gear, still a bit laggy from the larger than life i/c though but remapping should fix this
