CurtisRider
As a few of you may recall I have been tinkering with the idea of going for a vag 1.8t conversion on my Porsche. Although I'm fairly sure this would be the most suitable engine I was wondering what other alternatives there were to consider, one I had in mind was the Saab 2.3t as they are damn good engines, cheap with plenty of tinkering potential. I also noticed the Mercedes 2.3 kompressor engines seemed to fit the bill but I know nothing about them. What other similar choices are there? Preferably around the 2l size, forced induction with a minimum of 150bhp stock.
trials owns
passed my test a week ago, now ive got my own car im not enjoying driving like i thought, the idea of not getting wet/cold etc is sweet but im just not getting the spark! Anyone got any tips of actually enjoying driving? thinking less and actually doing it? went through some floods yesterday, now the car sounds like a diesel on start up, opened the bonnet to find the engine cover causing all the noise! I probably would have gone for a different first car mate. You're driving an estate as your first car, what engine is it again? Can't remember if you were going for the Sdi or the 1.4 16v in your skoda. I would have gone for something with less length and more girth. trials owns
haha yeah, it was a bargin, its the 1.4 8v version so pretty dam slow compared to my 650cc bike haha
dann2707
That was a joke haha, but it's got some truth to it. Shorter wheelbase and higher like a hatchback haha yeah, it was a bargin, its the 1.4 8v version so pretty dam slow compared to my 650cc bike haha That's your problem mate, i'd honestly sell that for a cheeky little prof and find something else if it was me. CurtisRider
Why when there are perfectly good Porsche engines from the same car? I wouldn't say perfectly good, the 924 turbo is uselessly unreliable with many parts becoming thin on the ground, the 2.5s cost a bundle to keep maintained and would cost as much as a better alternative
RobinJI
Yeah, you're actually pretty limited for Porsche engines to throw in a 928, basically it's other 924s or 944s, neither of which are anything special, plus you get fancy make tax on all the parts. I really like the idea of one of the all alloy 3.0 V6's out of a B6 Audi A4 in a 924/944, I know it doesn't meat your description, but my argument for that is basically: It sounds like a V6. Skoze, personally I think I'd just pull over. If they carry on and pretend like they weren't doing anything you've got rid of them, if they stop and get out, you've got a chance to show them you're legit and ask what's up. If they carry on doing it still then note down the car number and pop into the station to politely question why you were being followed. Basically make it glaringly clear you know their game, without actually being impolite/confrontational. Putting in complaints would come a lot later in my opinion, as it'll only piss them off. Pete.M
Paul, B230FK or FT is a possibility and pretty easy to get power out of. But even I would think that a 1.8t is a better bet.

King C
Why would you even argue with me. Why doesn't Matt go into the police station and ask if there is any trace on his car or previous crime history. For two reasons. Number one, it blows your BS theory out the water if there isn't. And two, if there is he can address the situation. I think, chances are.... The 5-0 just saw a young lad in a 3L Capri and thought the two didn't add up, so they tailed him whilst they did an insurance and ownership check, then realised he is legit and f**ked off. Probably nothing more serious than that. But the thing is that it is the same police car is harassing him, tailing him whilst they do an insurance and ownership check on more than one occasion. Sam T
Okay I've got a question.. When i passed my test back in June, i took out insurance that meant having a telematics box fitted in my car to measure how i drive. I've got round 300 miles left on that insurance, which was meant to last me for a year. You can buy top up miles, but at £600 for 2000 i think its time to get a new insurer. I've had a quote for £1200 on a 10,000 telematics insurer. My question is, is it illegal to put on my insurance i live with my Dad, who lives near Leicestershire in the middle of nowhere? It's £800 cheaper to put his address rather than the one im actually living at. I'd have to change the address on my licence too i guess? Can anyone clear things up a bit? Pashley26
Why are you having your driving tracked?
forteh
The vehicle should be insured at the address it's most commonly used, you could try using your dad's address but I guess it will give them a nice easy get out clause if you make a claim. Sam T
Because its the only sub 4K insurance i can get. It's still £3000 a year Its only a 1.4 8v MPI Polo
