JD™
Got the car back, turns out the rattling I had before it had a fit was unrelated and thus still there. They've also given a list of advisories that it'll fail the MOT on that make it tempting to just get rid and get the Porsche 9 months early. Pretty torn at the moment. TROYston
Right finally got the car! Service done, checked lines, anti-freeze added, looked at underneath and bushes all good Its amazing, the car drives so much better than my old 328(mileage related?) Going to ve fully cleaned inside and out, Jardo would have a shitfit if he saw the 2year untendered paint. Got quite a crew bubbles, surface rust, lacquer peel, but all the panels are straight, no dents. Between the gap of Christmas and New Year it's going to be on coilys(from my old one) have its middlebox and cat removed, diff welded and interior stripped. Does anyone know what to do about patching a hole on the drivers seat leg bolster?

crashbanggg
I don't suppose anyone has a 32/34 dmtl Weber carb they're wanting to sell?
Prawny Baby
I actually think I might have one in the garage at home. No idea if it works or not
dann2707
Sold my old turbo for £170 meaning I only paid £180 for the hybrid. Well well happy! I can't get enough of driving it now and it hasn't been mapped to suit. I literally have no idea what it's pulling in terms of torque and horsepower? Surely if the map hasn't been altered at all it can't be putting more fuel in. Can anyone confirm? It just pulls straight up to the redline and doesn't tail off, lots of lag at first though but i'm guessing that's due to massive cooler.
Greetings
If anyone's interested, here's an onboard. 3 clips from yesterday night with a few mistakes one of which could have ended badly for the car + a run from today which turned out to be the record time for this stage. Won the event partly due to the lack of 3 Evos. First half of the video is pretty boring since it was incredibly slippery. 2nd half is the quick stuff. I'm really proud with 2:32 in the video, was fighting all night and day to go through that corner steering the car with the throttle while keeping the wheels pointing straight. Almost nailed it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uZw15TkcCI

TROYston
There's an easy fix for that: link I'm after buckets, lost out by £5 On some New condition out of date sparco seats. Them ones look too fake?
Skoze
stuck near Peterborough after my master cylinder fully gave out at South Mimms, made it a good old way with half-working front brakes and slowing down on the gears, but decided to call it a day after limping it to my mate's who kindly put me up. We've had the whole thing apart and it is fuuuuuuuuucked, was so pitted - cleaned it up and it's just got baggy fanny syndrome. Rear seal is barely touching the sides and pulling in so much air. So glad I have my RAC card in my wallet, heeeere we go...
CurtisRider
Got my drive on hydraulic ramps from cj autos and I'm really disappointed so far. The welds are untidy, the paint finish is chipped to hell and put straight over rust, the steel is pitted to feck, some parts aren't straight, and the pump handle has a retaining clip that doesn't do its job at all and just pops out all the time. I haven't even put my car on them yet! I'm hoping to get a refund on them or at least a partial refund and then I'll grind out the key welds and redo them and give them a fresh lick of paint. On the bright side I'm back in Suffolk and this means I can play in my workshop. I have new top mounts to go on my struts, and i may give the spare springs I have a trim to see if I like it lowered before investing in proper springs. I have a new accumulator and fuel pump to go on, so hopefully my starting woes will be cured. My turbo rear valance arrived so i'll wedge that on when I replace the exhaust system to the Dansk I was given, also need to replace the exhaust manifold gaskets whilst I'm there too... RobinJI
Paul, that sucks. I hate it when things arrive and don't live up to expectations. Hopefully they'll do the decent thing and sort you out. Them ones look too fake? I don't think they will be fake, as that's actually £1 more than they cost on demon-tweaks, where they're definitely not fake. Sprint 5's are a well known bargain seat. I'm having a bit of an dilemma at the moment. I want to build a track toy, but I can't decide whether this should be the Scirocco, or if I should keep the 'rocco as a daily run around and buy a cheep MX-5 as the track car. An MX-5 has more potential for both times and fun on track, but then not being able to carry a spare set of wheels and a few tools to a track day's a major pain in the ass, and there's not as much fun development to do with one. Any opinions on this? Nick/Adam? Edited December 22, 2013 by RobinJI

RobinJI
Oh cock. Just broke the Scirocco. Drove less than a mile to pick up my mum and brother from a family friends house. The lane to their house looked rough, but ultimately less challenging for a low car than plenty of roads I drive regularly. Apparently looks can be deceiving, I crept forward at maybe walking pace and a loud bang proceded the mother of all exhaust blows. Somehow the flange of the downpipe that bolts to the turbo snapped in half. The stupid thing is, the exhaust's no where near the lowest point! The only thing I can think of is that the sump hit and pushed the engine back, pushing the downpipe into the steering rack. The best part of this being that the downpipe is completely custom, I'm working all day the next 2 days and I don't currently have a welder or even a grinder. Add to this the fact that insurance companies are assholes who still wont give me the ability to drive other peoples cars, because I'm 6 months too young to do that safely apparently, and I'm left with no real method of transport unless I drive around making a noise like a tractor and with my windows down to avoid getting gassed. I'm unbelievable pissed off. Edited December 22, 2013 by RobinJI
CurtisRider
That sucks robin! Hopefully somebody nearby can let you borrow a welder? Fitted my new accumulator today, car started and ran nicely. Went back to start the car and my fuel pump decided to die, it won't spin. I have a spare one but it uses a 15mm end rather than a 12mm. Where can I get a reducer from? I did try and make one on the lathe but the bearings are so shot on the poor thing that the results were comedy

CurtisRider
My electrics are shockingly bad, Replaced quite alot of it! Now I'm back in Suffolk I have the pleasure of my workshop to play in (I really miss this place!) First jobs were to fit my new accumulator, the old one had started leaking as well as not holding pressure anyway Old v new Fitted Then my fuel pump decided it had enough and failed...luckily I had bought a new one ready! Old v new Fitted with a fresh hose fitted too as the old one was close to falling apart Car feels like it's pulling better now, not sure if it's a placebo effect or not though! Annoyingly this hasn't cured my hot start issue. I fitted a s/h WUR recently and it's been worse since that. I have another s/h WUR to try in the hope that this cures the issue. If not I am stumped...... I also fitted a different wiper stalk as mines a bit haggard. For some reason the headlight washers came on and drained the washer tank, so I fitted my old stalk and still had the issue! Just d/c the motor for now, I'll investigate tomorrow. Next jobs are to fit the new manifold gaskets, and my Dansk  New ramp has made light work of getting under the car, shame they are made so damn badly....
