Sneakers O'Toole
I'll back Jardo up on this one, being a salesman is stressful. Managing 30 customers plus your bosses can be a real hand full. The list that he posted doesn't even cover all of it.

TROYston
Righteo, I am looking for a car on finance, 21, I work as a pallet checker as my main job, and a retained firefighter as my secondary job, on about 2000 a month post tax. My credit rating is just under okay, because as a youth a tried to get a loan lots of Times leaving a footprint On my credit rating. I rent (unfinished) if that makes a difference? would I be eligible? Ideallywithout part exing the zimzimmar!
Pashley26
Certainly would get finance.Black Horse is the best company for you, they are very flexible. If we get people declined at work we bounce straight to Black Horse, and based on what you've just said they will 100% finance you.Are you looking to buy from a dealer, or get a secured personal loan from a third party and use a private seller? Pashley26
Sorry guys...This was sat on my cabinet. Annoying me.Today however, I just decided to go for it because the car was filthy and even though I've not been driving it much I still wasn't happy looking at it every day either.Started off with a two bucket wash, but it was so early there were no pictures of this.I then used Revalation on the entire car, and a hog hair detailing brush (I know...) to work the wheels, door shuts and trim lines.Rinsed the car, re-washed and took it for a quick spin to dry it off. Which is less than ideal, but does the job.Quick detailed it with Angelwax QED.I had no reason to polish or refine the paint further, as it was only recently done. Also, if I'm honest I didn't really feel up to it.So I put a second layer of QED on it, just to make sure it was totally clear. I keep telling people my car isn't black, it's grey. But they don't believe me. Sun came out for half an hour, so I snapped a picture to prove this.Waxed it to death, hand applied Dark Angel with my palms. Worked in for 5 minutes per panel, left to haze for 5 and polished off with a super fluffy microfiber. No real pictures, CBA you all know what my car looks like.I treated all the exterior trims with AN Gel, buffed it to a satin gloss because I've gone off shiny exterior trim now.Spritzed the tires with Elixir, then buffed them to a satin finish and reapplied to double layer it.Used Elixir on the engine bay, and all the lower dash and foot well trims. Cleaned the seats with Heaven, which is amazingly good! Now my interior has a rich leather smell, and is fresh and nice. So very happy with that. Used a fresh detailing brush to restore my steering wheel, very happy with the results. This is the best way to use a leather cleaner in a detailed area without splattering crud everywhere. With Heaven you don't really have to worry, as it's a very gentle cleaner. And it smells so nice...Detailed the interior, all nooks and cubby holes sorted. Used one of my detailing "dib dabs" as I call them to do all of the trim ends and fittings.I used AN Gel again on the sides of the seats, and the door shuts. A little goes a VERY long way with AN Gel. Did all the door shuts with QED and Autoglym HD, just because I didn't want to waste dark angel on them.Jumped in the back and cleaned all the glass, and applied H2Go to the outside as a rain repellant.ANGel'd the wiper arms.Hoovered it.Filled it up with washer fluid, checked all the levels, checked the tyre pressures.Done. -In the new year I will be taking a long drive up to Scotland to Brotek to collect a DAS rotary, be shown how to use it properly, and do lads stuff with cars. I'm storing up my Crystal Rock until it can be applied in a proper unit by a professional, and I'm sure Mark will be up for that.
TROYston
Dealer ideally. So if I was accepted, would they finance me, and then I go to the dealer and pick a loverly gt86 Not entirely sure how the whole process works. Was on my mind but never looked into it. Was on my mind but never looked into it.New cars are slightly different.A new car will have to go through the manufacturers finance to get the relevant new car deals, so you'd lose any of the dealer contributions. Which isn't great Give it a go, fingers crossed for you

Greetings
Wheel room filling up Can't wait for the day when I look at the weather forecast, go in there and take out 2-3 sets of wheels perfect for all conditions one might encounter. Still a long way to go though, probably half way there The epic thing about this grotty room is that it's pretty much perfect for tyre storage - warm, very moist and dark. Needless to say due to those conditions it's useless for anything else which is why it was standing empty for the last few decades.

N.Wood
Whats the split with people paying cash for cars Vs getting finance?
Pashley26
Only three have paid cash this month for me. But that changes from brand to brand and dealer to dealer, roughly 80% finance in one way or another.
N.Wood
That makes me feel better. I (and my family for that matter) only ever pay cash for cars, the above explains why you see a lot of crack asses driving £25k+ cars.
Pashley26
Works both ways, if you bought a car for 20K cash and drove it for 6 years and traded it in for 6k. Its still cost you £194.44 a month simply for the use of the car. And you could have got two new cars in that time for the same payment on PCP. Who's the crack arse then. Pashley26
I think its good. You've got 20K cash, you could lease two cars for 7k every 3 years and give the second car back at the end, or buy the second car for about 6k with the 6k you have left in your bank. Or you could buy one car and run it for 6 years and get 6 grand back for it. Option one creates jobs and business opportunities, as well as keeps your car in warranty, MOT free and more reliable. And gets you a new car every 3 years. The other just buys you a car for 6 years.

James Quigley
I think the point to raise is the jive turkeys getting a car on finance don't have the 20k in the bank at the start. Therefore they go finance. And I can imagine the type of people that get finance whilst still young probably only just earn enough to cover the monthly payments, as some of my friends did at 18/19. For me spending all of your money just to have a new car is unacceptable. I'd much rather just buy a car that's 5-6yrs old outright for £6k. Warranties and mot don't really bother me. I'm in no way bagging on people that get finance, so long as its not taking up most of their free cash to do it.
RobinJI
Jardo, the fact is, however you describe it, it's not cheaper to buy a car on finance, or the finance companies wouldn't exist, if you've got the cash to buy without finance, it will be cheaper. You left out the option of buying the car outright and selling after 3 years, then buying another. Same bonuses as the finance option, and no one takes a %age for the pleasure. Sucks that things have got bad, but I'm glad you're getting things a bit more under control, I need to come visit you and Nick sometime, it's been a while.
