CurtisRider
This is similar to the look i'm going for (but with a bumper on...). I probably won't drive about with a helmet on though. Just got off the phone to a guy breaking 2 924s, turns out hes a few minutes down the road and when I asked about prices for several parts he replied with 'I just want beer money'. Fingers crossed he enjoys Tesco value beer. Hopefully I should have a working and tidy car soon.
dann2707
Cleaned my interior today and did nothing with the exterior but took some pictures anyway! Yo-t'-lo Will look great when there's a nice shiny silver thing behind the lower grill
CurtisRider
It's begging for colour coded mirrors and bump strips! I just got some Scooby seats for £25, not particularly pretty but they should fit in the narrow space that the Porsche offers and be way more supportive for my back Edited October 26, 2013 by CurtisRider
froggy
does anyone have anything to say about the volvo c30? I'm looking for a new (used) car, I have a budget of around 6500. As i intend on leaving full time employment next year I'm looking for something relativly new, that will last 4 years trouble free while I'm at uni. So good MPG and relativly low servicing are quite important. The obvious choice a while ago was 08+ Focus (1.6 TDCi) but it's just so plain and boring. I've been having a gander about and the megane coupe 09+ also seems to tick all boxes. However, I find the Volvo C30 just simply beautiful and I know I'd love owning a car like that. However, from what I've read there's been a few recalls which is off putting and I'm unsure about how reasonable parts, servicing and maintaining a volvo is. So yeah, what do people have to say about the c30?
CurtisRider
Collected the Impreza seats just now. Unfortunately they are 55cm wide and my current ones are 50cm. The extra 5cm would make it impossible to use the handbrake which is mounted between the seat and the door Dang.

CurtisRider
I'm too much of a pussy to break the rules, i'll just wait for some suitable seats to pop along I have just collected a boot full of 924 goodies, the chap said I could just take whatever I wanted as long as I bought the wheels he had for sale which were a bit of a bargain anyway (I needed fresh tyres out back so it worked out well). Mega happy about that as I can now fix a bunch of troublesome/niggly areas and whatever's left can be sold off or put in my ever growing spares pile :$
dann2707
So today I wanted to see where I could locate my boost gauge that I kept from my old car. I didn't want it on the A pillar as I find it restricted my view quite a bit before. The other choice was in one of the vents, the middle ones are a pain to get to and have to remove quite a bit of stuff and I wasn't prepared to do that so I chose the outer vent nearest to the drivers door. Started disassembling the vent to see how I could go about it, bearing in mind this is the first thing i've done like this, was taking a bit of a gamble really as I know I could get a replacement vent for pennies if I mess this up. So with my trusty snippers, files and measuring tape I cracked on! Snipped this but completely off: The gauge! More snipping, not that tedious really I measured the diameter of the boost gauge, then deducted that from the diameter of the vent where it will be sat, I then halfed the final figure to determine how much plastic to leave in the middle to make the boost gauge sit bang in the middle. White dots show where I measured it to: Testing it in the vent. The vents were loose ever so slightly loose as I had to remove the frame that held it sturdy, so out with the silicone I sealed around where it sits, currently drying. Final product! Really happy with it to say it was a spontaneous decish today!
CurtisRider
Neat, well done Dan. Didn't really get much time this afternoon to do many jobs as the wind and rain started picking up, however little things have improved! Replaced the rusted up n/s headlight Replaced the floppy n/s sunvisor Replaced the ash tray to a brown one Replaced the door latch surrounds Cleaned up the o/s electric window reg and motor ready to convert my car back to full electric windows (for some reason a manual window has been fitted only on the drivers side) I need to order some thread and one of those hook needle things to refurb this brown 3 spoke wheel to replace the black 4 spoke I have. Fingers crossed it cleans up as nicely as others have!

dann2707
I got a knock at the door this morning and this thing was soon on my table! The connectors look well made
dann2707
Sorry for another post of pics haha I've fitted the boost gauge, it's not plumbed or wired in yet though as waiting for the EGR delete pipe first. I also cut the plastic couling behind it back a little and taped it off so it doesn't heat up the silicone sealant in the vent. Silver kind of stands out, I wish I had a black one now! Wrayvon
I still find it odd you have the yellow dials. Nice one on the boost gauge though
Luke Rainbird
Get the satin black spray out and it'll soon be a little more OEM looking. Certainly seems like a tidy install though, nice one
dann2707
Thanks a lot Doing my uni course has definitely made me think more logically when it comes to stuff like measure twice cut once sort of thing haha Spray paint is a great shout, not sure how easy it is to separate the fascia from the glass thoughhhhh

Azarathal
Just had some good news and getting the mr2 might be happening a lot sooner than I thought! Given up on the idea of a turbo seeing as it'll be my first semi powerful car and my first rwd plus they average about 20-25mpg. Looking for a nice rev3+ mk2 na to get me started

dann2707
I went to get my car tracked last week at a garage but they said they couldn't track it properly as the wishbone rear bushes were dead. So I changed them along with the whole complete wishbone just because. Go to Monday now and I take the car back to the garage saying it's all been changed, they track the car and it feels absolutely beautiful now, doesn't pull to one side however the steering wheel isn't straight. When let go of the wheel the car doesn't pull to one side it goes dead straight but as said the steering wheel isn't aligned properly. I take the car back and they say bring it back tomorrow and we'll sort it free of charge etc, I've just taken it back now and they say that because it's all seized up its hard to get it level etc blah de blah, they then work on it and tell me it's not exactly dead straight now it's pointing a tiny tiny tiny bit to the left. Fine I think, I don't mind if it's 1 degree out. I drive it home 10 miles and it's pulling to the bloody left!!! If I let go of the wheel it pulls to the left slightly, much worse than it did the first time it was done properly, wish I would have just left it with the wheel pointy wonky. I really can't take more time out of my life to ring up the garage, sort out a delivery time etc, drive there to do it all again. They were really friendly and you could have a laugh with them though which was good. So anyway, is there any way I can just tweak it ever so slightly so that it doesn't pull to the left anymore? The steering wheel is straight now though if I hold the wheel dead straight the car does go forward, its just pulling to the left
