A few clips from Wednesday.

Me driving, out for a quick session before lunch with Emily, AndyP's girlfriend as pax:

A lap with Ian H, brief appearance from Floyd at the end, followed by a complete talent fail and apology from myself

And a clip of BigAl venturing out into the rain, considering Dad drives the car about 3 times a year, and hadn't driven it at all since the last round of upgrades, I think he was doing bloody well :)

Went to start the lotus this morning to take it round the corner and get the front re-sprayed and all I got was a click... uh oh! Second attempt not even any electrics.. double uh oh.. 9 minutes later I was at euro picking up a new battery and was astonished at how cheap they are at the moment http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/accessories-car-batteries/car-batteries/most-popular-car-battery/075-car-batteries/?444770751&0&cc5_995

£40 bingo!

Car started first time and a reset ecu means it sounds like a rocket =] thank god it was something so simple. I figure the other battery was nackered it's been on the car for 7 years and its one of the stupid mini battery types only 35Ah :|

Nice little slide at the end of that video Nick, was a perfect FWD corner entry from the looks of it, just needed to bury the throttle once you had started getting the opposite lock on :) what tyres did you have on? Looked to have plenty of grip

Dunlop Direzza 03G/s in h1 on there Adam, hardly the ideal wet tyre, but they coped surprisingly well i thought!

to be honest, that had been a LONG session, and I was starting to get pretty bad brake judder issues, so concentration was probably lacking a little to say the least! Plus I was too busy marvelling at how much grip the scooby had on full race wets with 4wd!

Anyone in here opting for proper snow/winter tyres on the daily this year? I've never tried any before, wondering wether they're worth the price considering how feeble british snow usually is.

I bought some Bridgestone Blizzaks off ebay last week for this very reason. They are part worns and have worn 1mm from new, so pretty much new. Cost for a pair delivered was just under price for a single tyre new.

Meant to perform well in straight up cold weather too, will be interesting to see. Hoping for snow :D

Yeah, looked like you were on completely the wrong tyres or just getting accustomed to the track. I thought you were getting Yokohama wets? Or were they supposed to be slicks?

Edit: On the subject of winter tyres, we do get a lot of snow here and they really are necessary. I opted for the cheapest ones I could buy last year, they were Fortuna's or something like that, a typical Chinese brand. The tyres are absolutely brilliant - I'm sure no match for Hakkapeliitta's but for normal driving and coping with snow they were more than adequate. At no stage did I hope for more grip.

This is it (thread/model, not size):

So tried clutchless shifting tonight and it went surprisingly well. The clutch on my city rover has been slipping quite bad for a while under normal driving and I thought I might as well learn to drive it without a clutch to the scrappy :P

So far I can only go 2-3-4 and downshift 5-4 but I'm getting there, read up a bit about it and checked driving and shifting revs before rev matching and tapped the throttle to slide it out of gear smoothly, didn't grind my gears once :)

Both infact Alex! Totally wrong tyre, and first time ever at Spa.

We did have some Yoko wets a while back, but sold them on the basis that we had too many tyres, it's always a toss up between the best possible tyre for performance and being road legal to and from the track.

if it were traillered, I'd take a set of slicks, a set of wets, and a set of semis as you seem to which is amazing.

As is it, we can only take 1 road legal set on the car, and one additional set in the boot, so you make your choices and take your chances!

Another little clip, first time ever using slicks:
