Yesterday BigAl and I headed to Audi Driver international at Castle Combe.

ADI is run as a typical Castle Combe sessioned day, but tends to be FAR quieter than the action days, and we were lucky enough to get in on a trade and track access pass through a friend, so basically had open pitlane lapping all day :)

The day started off SOAKING wet, we were running on Dunlop 03G's, so not ideal, was pretty slippery (and slow!)

It dried out a bit, so BigAl headed out, this is just a short clip with an appearence from Gurds at 1:16

If Gurds doesn't get you with his new power, he'll smoke you to death

Poor old ABF breathing a little heavily - goes bloody well though with a blower on it :)

After lunch I fitted the yoko slicks, after carrying these all the way to Spa and back to not use them, I was determined to try them!

I was impressed!

And another little clip from later in the day, following Bill in the infamous Badger5 ibiza race car:

Got a few more to add later of BigAl driving on the slicks in the dry, Also saw Stumpy there, the S4 looking gorgeous as always!

All in all, top day. it was a really nice change to get some decent clear track at Combe and do more than just a few sessions so you can really get into the groove :)

Nick and the yellow Ibiza (which belongs to Bill who runs Badger 5) did have a pretty good battle in the last session of the day, and they were pretty evenly matched. Funnily enough it's actually the opposite, because of the class Bill races the Ibiza in, he's not allowed aero mods or full-slicks, he has to run road legal tyres. He's got a huge power advantage over Nick, but the A3 was catching him in the corners because of the extra grip the aero and slicks were giving him. I get the impression that Nick's chassis set-up has a slight upper hand too, with the A3 being a little lower and longer.

Mine's not used Daily Alan, but it is built with road use in mind and a few compromises as a result.

Bills Ibiza is a Castle Combe Saloon car racer, they're basically unlimited in terms of engine and suspension mods, but they have to retain a standard silhouette and list 1A tyres, the best of which are AD08 semi slicks.

I think Bills is just under 1 ton, and 420bhp on it's lowest setting, with 600+ on full chat although I think Bill stayed on low boost.

Was absolutely awesome fun though :)

Thanks for the pics Robin :)

That looks really nasty Adam, glad you managed to avoid it :) Nobody got hurt I guess?

I'm getting REALLY nervous about the final round on Saturday, championship is still up for grabs and the weather is completely unpredictable at the moment. Plus my main rival has summoned two drivers from his team to take part in the competition and reduce the chances of me winning. And they're properly good drivers, one of them is the champion from last year. It's all getting a bit out of hand really.

So for the extra edge I've had to order yet more tyres to make sure I have a set for every possible weather condition and found I haven't got enough wheels. Luckily my mate had these for sale so I popped down and here they are :) I've wanted Superleggera's for years but could never quite justify paying the price, fortunately/unfortunately I have no choice now but to buy whatever is available :)

So the only problem I have left is how to transport 28 wheels to the comp.
