Pashley26
We have got a new CC Bluemotion now, stepdad got it as a company car. I told him to ask VW not to "prep" the paint work, just remove the stickers and pressure wash it with clean water. They did. I did a correction and protection on it the following day with a pre release sample Waxybox gave me of their new Anniversary wax. Good wax, great on medium metallic cars. A f**ker to apply but so rewarding.
dann2707
So I'm currently wandering around in f**king Glusburn on my own whilst the car is having its asthma problems sorted. I have no idea where I am and there are absolutely no shops haha this is going to be a fun 2 hours!
Pashley26
I have found myself in a weird prediciment. I know I bang on about changing my car all the time, but I think it might actually happen this time. I went to look at a Mk5 GTI yesterday, DSG, Xenons, Satnav, Sunroof. I really really liked it. And subject to getting the right money for my car private I think I might do it.
dann2707
So I'm currently wandering around in f**king Glusburn on my own whilst the car is having its asthma problems sorted. I have no idea where I am and there are absolutely no shops haha this is going to be a fun 2 hours! Well this turned out to be a cracking deal! Had the cat removed, along with the mid box and backbox and replaced with straight through pipe. This cost me £120 all in which was excellent in itself. I asked to keep the cat although he said when you take it don't let them rip you off and offer you £10-20 as it's an original part. I can't believe he was so honest to tell me and not offer me £20 for it himself. So I took it to a local scrapyard who "offer the best cat prices" thinking they would offer me around £20. "That's worth £60 mate according to our computer database" YAY! Couldn't believe it haha. What a great day Car feels lovely now, really free revving and I got the traction control light on in second a few times despite having this boost leak still. I can't hear the owl hoot noise though Edited October 11, 2013 by dann2707

Wrayvon
Where is my owl? So did you get a turn down tip put on? I see you didn't cut out your bumper.
Greetings
I was contacted recently by a good friend who asked me if she could borrow my M3 for a photo shoot of her new line of clothing. I told her it was pretty battered and she said that's what they're looking for - although upon inspection she thought that the front bumber was a bit much. So today I got the car cleaned and ready, put the white wheels on which she wanted and also a different bumper. I think it looks quite respectable now? Also someone on here will definitely be able to help with this - I cannot get my wheels clean. They're powder coated and it's as if some dirt was embedded in the paint. I've even tried thinners and clay which sort of work but not everywhere. Any ideas?
RobinJI
I've had good results cleaning my wheels with muc-off, but I'm sure someone who actually knows something about cleaning cars will be along soon with a better suggestion. 1.8t people, what sort of mpg are you getting when sat at 70? Since getting my speedo (and therefore trip computer) working the Scirocco's returned an average of 35mpg with a mix of town and a-road driving, sounds about right, but the odd thing is the instantanious on the motorway sat at 70 is only 35ish, the best speed seems to be 45ish, which is a lot lower than I'd expected. I can only assume it's because the revs sit a bit high on the motorway with my little wheels, but I'd still expect it to be better than that. I'm not sure if the Scirocco would be better or worse than the cars 1.8t's are normally found in in terms of aero, it's not all smooth, but it is quite sloped with a low nose and a significantly smaller frontal area. Pashley26
Sat at 70, on a level surface. 40mpg. At 85, 45mpg. At 60, 35mpg.
Luke Rainbird
If I ever find myself driving on a bit of ground level enough I'll try and make a note As it stands I average around 30mpg through daily use of mainly B roads and some town driving (all hilly as fook), on a run I'll usually get in the region of 35-38mpg at 70ish

We don't get that brand over here but I'm guessing it's just a normal wheel cleaner no?
shamus
It's a bike (MTB) cleaner. I agree with Robin, very effective. I find it eats tar and ancient brake dust very easily. My new scoob. It's bags of fun, hopefully it will remain an honest workhorse.
RobinJI
Yeah, I mean the bike stuff. I find it great for doing engine bays and wheels. I'm not really sure what an equivalent would be. Just noticed they have actually started selling it as car wheel cleaner, but I'd just been using the bike stuff. (Link) Like I say, I'm sure someone who knows about cleaning cars will be along and know better. I just used it as it's what I had lying around, and I was really impressed with how well it worked. CurtisRider
My Porsche is massively pissing me off. Just had the engine mounts off...not broken. Now Im even more stuck as to what's up with it. I'm at the point now where I might just break it for parts and be done with it. Porsche forum I'm on is useless and they never reply, total waste of money joining it! Anybody want a broken porsche?

monkeyseemonkeydo
Did you notice a reduction of front lift/less understeer at speed with the splitter?
Prawny Baby
I sure do Dave. Whilst I've not got the access of knowledge for anything as in detail as what you do, I spent a fair bit of time trying to make sure it was actually going to do something. The effects on track are very instantly obvious, turn in at speed is far sharper, and very high speed stability is much much improved also. All round, massive success.Saw Robin and Tic today at Combe, had a really top day! Got to take Robin out for a few laps, Had hoped to take Tic out but the day was ended earlier than I had expected.
monkeyseemonkeydo
That's awesome, I must say it looked like you did a bloody good job of it and would've definitely expected it to do something useful. Although I've done the tunnel testing on this sort of stuff I've never actually used anything on the road to feel the real world effect at certain speeds. It's all well and good knowing that at 100mph something will reduce front lift by 100 Newtons but I don't really know what real world effect that would have on the track in terms of feel.
