Think its more that there is only one wheel bolt holding the wheel on judging by the bolts on the floor :P

Don't you think it might be because there are no bolts in the wheel, judging by the four on the floor and the one in nicks hand? :P

So unboxed the sub to see where I'll stick it in the rover, it's quite a bit bigger than I expected so its an excuse to not have that 4th passenger as I hate people in the back of the car.

It came with no instructions, the box is a bit tatty and there are a few scuffs / marks on the sub itself which makes me think I've been fobbed off with a reconditioned unit but it's not a biggy.

I can get the manual online and it's gunna be hidden away 99% of the time. Fitting tomorrow or sunday! Cant wait

I'd be keeping them myself, a known quality, can you afford to risk your championship on an unknown tyre gamble?

Yeah, they're Yokohama Advan's - 240/610R17.

You have a good point and indeed I've thought about it, but we're comparing a brand new 2013 wet tyre made by an average company to a used, possibly 1-2 year old wet tyre which is top of the line. The rubber in the Hankooks feels miles better but that could be due to the fact they haven't been used at all, the Yokos have rather an uneven thread since clearly they were used on a drying surface - the last laps were probably covered on dry tarmac.

Difficult choice. I'll ptobably go with the Yokos since they're a lot cheaper but I kind of feel inclined to try the Hankooks because they're sooo sticky. And it'd be cool if a cheap new tyre turned out to offer high performance. But like you say, the last round is not the time to test these things.

How much room have you got in the arches? Might be time for a set of 70 profile ferry tyres :P

Leon just flew through its MOT. Shame it'll be off the road for half the duration mind!

LCR cast lower arms and struts are on, hubs received were the wrong bloody ones (despite confirming 3 times...) so hopefully get the correct ones on there early this week before getting the tracking done shortly after (Y)

Guys, I want to fix my jack.

Problem - some valve isn't working because as I press the lever, the arm raises but as soon as I let go of the lever, the jack falls back to the initial position. You can feel the weight of whatever you're lifting through the lever. So the fluid in the slave cylinder is working directly on the master cylinder.

Where is the one way valve responsible for filling up the slave cylinder? Is it the bit that I've already removed?

Other things one can remove on the jack:

- Safety valve do not touch (?) - haven't touched that

- Bleed screw on the back

- 2 screws on the bottom which I think are for draining oil since there's just a ball under them

I might have to give up my trips to sainsburys because of the splitter due to a few speed bumps, but on the whole I think it'll be manageable. I've been up and down a few bumpy roads in it this morning and not yet touched it on anything.

This morning I raidsed and levelled the car up, it had been sitting 3mm low on front left for a while, so I raised the front right 5mm and the front left 8mm to get it nice and level and a tad higher, I also raised the back 5mm to suit, then went off to have the tracking done.

This has given me a clear 75mm under the splitter all round as planned.

Down to Pro tyre, and as expected the tracking was slightly out, uneven and toe out causing a left pull.

Prawn you seem to be taking exactly the same steps as my mechanic did when developing his version of an M3 GTR which is now winning events in the CEZ championships.

Their next step was a rear diffuser, a proper one though not the silly things you get on Ferraris and stuff like that. I think it could impair the user friendliness of your A3 but it apparently makes a massive difference. They've also started using side exhausts so as to maximize the effect of the diffuser and allow for the car to have as flat a belly as possible.

I'm looking at potentially ditching my Porsche seats and fitting alternatives as mine are knackered and replacements are overpriced for thier condition. I want recliners that are a bit buckety and they need to fold forwards ideally. Has anybody got any suggestions of decent seats that come up reasonably priced? I've seen a few Recaros I like the look of but I don't know which ones were actually any good+many of them seem to be pretty haggard! I quite like the look of the EP3 Civic type R seats but they always come in gash colours :(

I love the Escort RS Turbo seats in my Scirocco. Not for larger types, as they're pretty tight hugging, but they suit me ideally at 5'9" and 13st. I quite like the fact they've got the tilting handles for access to the back on both sides too, so when fitting them to another car you can put the nice fresh passenger seat in the drivers side without issue. That said, my driver and passenger seats feel pretty much identical still anyway.

This style seat seems to be in a few different cars with different cloths and fittings but the same foam and frame shape, the quite square bolsters are a good way of spotting them, but I think there was a similar looking later seat that was wider and less hugging, found in mk3 golfs.
