MOT next week for the Leon. Shouldn't really need anything other than a wishbone bush that's on it's way out with any joy. To remedy this, I have a set of polybushed LCR cast wishbones with LCR hubs en route. Need to get my hands on some LCR front coilovers for the arb mount though which is a pain as mine are only 6 months old. Wish you could just buy fronts instead of a whole set - hoping to track some down second hand for now.

Still got the city rover, inheriting some money soon so the money I saved towards the mr2 is going into the rover to get it sellable and a bit more enjoyable until I get the new car.

Still at odds end with the sloppy steering situation, ball joints were only done about 10k ago, 4wheel alignment has been triple checked, balancing good etc.

I've had a few suggestions some of which I think are extreme for a 28k car; steering rack, power steering pump etc. I don't think it's a collapsed spring or bent anything as one moment the car drives amazingly and pulls well etc next moment steering is sloppy, doesn't pull so well, torque and brake steers like a bitch and tramlines all over the place. Had a minor bump on a slow corner take the steering wheel from my hands a couple of times.

Without me shelling out for a garage does anyone live near Bracknell that wouldn't mind taking a quick look?

So driving at 30 down a narrow lane and a small unavoidable bump pulled me into a narrow rut next to the Tarmac, luckily I was going slow enough not to be pulled into the hedge. About 2minutes later it choked so bad when pulling out onto a main road that instead of pulling away easily I almost cut someone up. After a 6-7mile trip I also noticed my heat gauge didn't quite get to half way so that's another issue I need to sort :(

Looking good Alex! well done mate!

I'll be running those exact same yoko medium compound slicks at Spa in a weeks time :)

Cheers man :)

They're pretty good tyres once they reach the right temperature, still not the best I've used though. If you can get hold of them, look out for some 250mm Dunlop SP Sports. I'm guessing you use 18" wheels so you'd need 250/640R18. Plenty available, I think BTCC use them.

On a completely different note, what do you guys think about this?

A bit of background - the RR driver was apparently with his wife and child and stated that the bikers started attacking the car. If he was worried for the safety of his loved ones and himself, I'm not at all surprised he just floored it. To me it also looks like one of the bikers provoked the confrontation by cutting the driver off. After he used the horn, the horde mentality stepped in...

Unless they had a bloody good reason to try and stop the Range Rover, it looks like the bikers were being brain-dead idiots. Even if they did have a good reason it was still a bloody stupid thing to do. The Range Rover didn't react in the best way possible, but it looks like a fright and flight instinctive reaction to being placed in danger, rather than a consciously malicious attack. I hope none of the bikers got hurt badly, as it probably wouldn't have been them personally who provoked it, but as a group they did bring it on themselves.

Also, Nick's running 17's, 235/45R17 (or close) for road tyres, not sure about slicks.

That video just makes me think motorcyclists are even more moronic than I previously thought. Chasing the car, regardless of if the RR driver had done something terrible or not, is just asking for trouble and irresponsible behavior. It's a real shame that a bunch of louts let down the decent motorcyclists and create an even poorer image that seems to surround them already. I encounter so many dicks on bikes on my journey to work, they put themselves into potentially awful situations, no wonder they end up being organ donors.

Once the bikers made a show of the displeasure. In the first instance he should have slowed, offered apology visually and allowed the bikers to proceed. The bikers shouldn't have intimidated him, it is a vast over reaction to a scenario that happens a great deal on the roads everyday. The brake testing biker was a twat, he misjudged it and caused it, not the driver. This situation should never have developed. If it hadn't been a mob mentality I'm sure the rover driver would have done the right thing, as would a small group of riders.
