The Car Thread

Changed my spark plugs today in the hope it would cure my running issues. 1 plug was barely done up which was pretty worrying! Previous owner was such a bodging b*****d :( it now runs a ton smoother, the ticking noise has nearly gone (tappets to be adjusted next) but unfortunately it still lumps like feck at 2k. Gonna collect some new ht leads on Saturday in the hope they at responsible...

Oh and i also chucked in a full tank of that Shell nitro stuff as my car was nearly empty and I noticed it recommends 98ron fuel minimum, my car pulls so much better with that and fresh plugs! Trouble is I now want to hoon it everywhere as then I avoid the 2k lumping and the car feels so much more alive!

Paul, if it's running smoother on premium you might need to wind back the ignition timing a touch unless you plan to always run it. My Scirocco says minimum 98ron on the fuel flap too, what a crock of shit, the original engine in that thing would have run happily on any old shit.

Jardo, how on earth does your car have 'Every mod possible on the standard turbo'. Does it also have a supercharger strapped to it? It doesn't even have water meth does it? and that's pretty common. I know the spec's fairly sorted, which is all you really meant, but you need to stop talking in such certainties, as it makes you come across as much more of a cock than you actually are :P Glad the breaks are good, and it is looking smart.

Wowowowowo Jardos gay3 is the best car ever. In the universe, just look at that generic wheel cleaner that's been branded and the price boosted by well over 1000% work it's magic. ;)

Ha, nah. I made a video ripping into Carbon automotive wheel sealant and some wench and her bf attempted to argue with me over instagram.

I would link the video but not sure if you can with instagram?

I think the plugs are more responsible than the fuel to be honest, and I can't afford to run it on that stuff all the time, i'm on the basic teacher wage and i'm hammering a good £200 a week on regular fuel anyway! (using the Golf 3 days a week and the Porsche 2 days)

On a side note, the Golf mk5 is the most depressing, soulless, boring car I have ever driven, I cannot see any reason why anybody would want to buy one

MPG > BHP :ninja:

I think it's time you left.

I'm with Rich on this one. economy is for old people

They are über nice. And very easy to get massive power out of so I'm told

if my very easy, you mean removing the entire engine and swapping the TWO turbos and all associated parts, then yea, they're easy

On stock turbo's, low-mid 300's. they pull very well, but it's a heavy car.

Hey Audi boys, quick one...

my sister has a 55 plate A4 estate 1.9 TDI SE. It's oil pump died apparently - the quote from audi is £3k ! Im assuming its an engine out job ? A quick google seems to suggest a new pump in its entirety is getting on for £800 ? Am I definitely going to need a whole new one as there seem to be repair bits around? Me and a friend ( who is much more mechanically minded) may consider having a go - given that at the moment the alternative is the car gets sold and they get a cheap run around. Would the job require any specialist audi tools and is the oil pump dying likely to have knackered anything else ?

Turned the traction control off in a nice damp tescos car park last night gave it some boot in second got a drift on cacked myself so clutch in and steer back. It was the most pathetic drift attempt ever. But I couldn't stop smiling all the way home.

I think more attempts at drifting are coming soon!
