That looks awesome nick! Really nicely installed.

Paul, it's Brembo's site that's got all the good info on it, there's essentially an engineering drawing for all their discs on there, so all the dimensions you'll ever need. If you need any longitudinal 1.8t bits let me know, I broke a 1.8t Passat a while ago, the head/bottom end were dead, but the rest was ok, plus the engine in my Scirocco started life in a Passat, so I've got all the bits I removed to turn it around. Really you want an AEB code engine, as you'll get the cable throttle and large-port head, and it should be cheap, with everything already set-up for inline mounting. A 1.8t 924 will be awesome! I've got a copy of the VW dealer wiring diagram for the relevant Passat too if you need it.

My car decided to have a bit of a weird day, decided to suddenly only make 8psi of boost before dumping the rest out of the screamer, until I switched it off and on again and it was back to 21psi, most bizarre, and the first time it's done it? Any ideas? This occurred after giving it the full 8000rpm in 3rd (which it's absolutely fine with in 1st and 2nd)...

In other news, girlfriend took my car to go to Glastonbury (after much guilt tripping, I really didn't want her to) but she made it all the way there fine, and other than someone reversing down my back bumper and taking a load of paint off it, made it all the way back fine, before crashing into the neighbours house on the tight corner in the village -

So I had to give that a bit of a mend <_<

And here we are

Awesome, just been having a look and noting down stuff, hopefully find something a touch larger than 257mm to fit.... Limited a little by having 14s and I really want to keep it looking as stock as possible outside. I guess 280mm ish would be my maximum?

Cheers for the offer on bits, much appreciated! I'm hoping that I can get a full donor car and have pretty much all I need to get going from that :)

Edit: Eurgh my car uses stupid discs which seem to house one of the bearings, finding a match will be a slag. Looks like a caliper upgrade would be the only way to get more power without swapping to a 5 stud setup. Will I really need to upgrade my brakes that much for a 25bhp increase? Mine seem to work fine and i've never really been the kind of person to work brakes hard anyway, but at the same time I want the car to be safe... 4 pots a good plan?

Can't you just machine the original disc down to purely the wheel mounting face and then slip a normal disc over the top? With size, it's possible to squeeze a 270mm disc under a lot of 14's, but any bigger tends to be a struggle.

I didn't think of that, got to be worth a try! I'll get myself on the 924 forum and see if anybody has some worn out discs spare :) Do you know of any 4 pots that would be suitable for that size disc? Many seem to be 300mm+

Willwood and Hi-spec both do 4-pots suitable for use in little wheels, check the max weights on some of the really light weight stuff though. If you're thinking OEM stuff then I'm not really sure, Volvo 240 brakes would probably go and are powerful, but they're an iron caliper, so not ideal. The Brembo calipers I've got to go on mine are off a Renault of some sort (I suspect an 'arse' shapped megane), I suspect they're originally off a 300+mm disc, but they look like they'll work fine on my 280's.

Having bought my Scirocco Last week, it looks as though I might not be able to actually drive it until the 21st+ August, gutted to say the very least! I bought it knowing I wouldn't be able to insure it (For sensible money) until the 15th August once I had got my 1 years NCB, so sent off to SORN it yesterday. However, I have only just read the small print about then having to have it off the road 21 days, f**k. So it looks as though il have to re-insure the Polo until then, unless i've got it completely wrong and can tax it before the 21 days? (But still be able to claim back the £150 odd tax that's still on it)

Saw Phil today :)

He was busy, so I double clamped my exhaust and fitted a new dogbone. Exhaust is now mounted in such a stupidly over kill way that it will never rattle or sag ever again.

Two U clamps per join at opposites to give 360* of tension, a support rubber made up from a TFSI centre section and new rear hangers with zip ties pulling the Y pieces tighter.

Not having race grade lower mounts ha made my car so much nicer to drive normally. Dash shakes like a raped smack addict when you light the wheels up though.

I've just moved house alot closer to work and no longer have the 30minute drive to the missus now were living together so I think I can afford something abit thirstier, going to check out an import subaru legacy gtb tomorrow. Dunno if its what I really want but it all seems to make since in my head...

Want so f**king much. When I've finished the house and got all my other stuff straight that's on the cards. I offered the guy a straight swap for my passat (in standard form) but he didn't bite. Weren't too disappointed thou, it wasn't the tidiest example.
