CurtisRider
Oh I see! I've never actually had anything to do with servos, can another simply be bolted on? What sort of master cylinder/servo combo would you recommend? The Porsche has mounts on the wishbones for the ARB, thats the only diference between the golf wishbones though. I'm looking at fitting coilover sleeves later on if I do decide to lower it but that will only be once I find some suitable wheels (the stock look does appeal to me though...) I'll give the standard lights a chance for now, just with fresh bulbs/upgraded wiring, it's not like i'll be driving in the dark much over the summer anyway
SamKidney
Stumbled across this. Some pretty special stuff... http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/index.htm
DrDoom
The civic now has a 10mm drop on decent springs and shocks, however this is probably about the same height as old springs were 11 year old - not noticed a difference in height myself, just firmer! Also got round to fitting a JDM RARB rather than the ukdm one, a rear tie bar, a front strut brace, new drop links all round, and new drilled/grooved/vented disks all round, got new mintex pads on which will lock all 4 wheels under heavy braking for bends but squeal like a bitch when hot, even with LOTS of copper grease on the backs. Going to swap them out for ferodo ds2500s on the front. Just went for a quick blast through some local twistys. 4 new, but bedded in toyo t1r's on her too. Nice planted ride, with a firm rear end that'll kick out on lift off dead easy. Such a responsive drive now. Totally renewed the sporty feel on a 11 year old car. Dead chuffed! I dont know if I posted this up the other week, but this was it before the drop and work - i'll go get some new photos soon!
CurtisRider
Car looks great apart from the retarded looking numberplate! How come you went for 10mm springs?
Pashley26
I still want one so badly We took in an immaculate 231 yesterday, I took it out for a thrash and the way they drive is just so awesome.
Luke Rainbird
What sort of money do they go for? Assuming through work you could pick one up cheaper and have some coin left from selling the Audi to tweak it, if you did decide to commit? Pashley26
This is the one I bought in yesterday for £1200 - They are an obscene amount of car for their money. If the A3 does sell when Marty gets his payout then depending what's around I will be very tempted with one. I've had an itch for an RX8 ever since I started working for Mazda, and it hasn't gone away yet. The smartest way to do it is to buy one with compression issues. A nice 231 with a blown engine is £5/600, a rebuild with bridgeporting and a two year warranty, supplied and fitted is £1800. So for sub 3K you've got a four door sports car with a two year engine warranty, 260bhp, a superb chassis, full leather, bose 11 speaker sound system, sat nav, bluetooth, heated seats etc etc etc. People are just scared of doing it I think, it's a lot of hassle and investment for a 10 year old car that does 20mpg and costs over £400 a year to tax. Luke Rainbird
Yeah, not an enormous cost up front just rather pricey to run by the sound of it!
DrDoom
Car looks great apart from the retarded looking numberplate! How come you went for 10mm springs? Retarded plates will be gone as soon as the documents finally come through and I can get my own number on there! These are the last owners plates! 10mm springs because number one, I live in the highlands and number two, they were going for next to nothing on a local page! Danny
Put a standard front plate on please. It looks daft with the plate recess then the plate down there.
Luke Rainbird
Went to Birmingham for work, ended up coming home with an LCR subframe, steering rack, ARB, hubs and Brembo setup. Oops. Could do with a fresh lick of paint in an ideal world, but otherwise sweet. New pads and 1000 mile old discs so should do the job rather nicely for now
george_seamons
Yes Luke! Good man, will make a big difference having all those bits on. In my own news; my engine is all back in now. Just got to bolt the front panel on, so I can get some water circulating round,...then its time to turn the key and see what damage occurs! Luke Rainbird
Cheers dude, Yeah, once this lot's on the car will be at a really solid level to start thinking about more power when the time comes (read: when the money is available). Just need to get it all fitted now, along with finally getting around to that bloody SAI etc that I still haven't done! Any bolts left over from when it all went back together?!
george_seamons
There's loads of bolts left; but that's because I've effectively built 2 engines. Lots of bits have been stripped off one that aren't needed on the other. If you can afford it, get the SFS oversized turbo intake pipe...made a big difference to my friends Cupra. They are a twat to fit though, they really are huge in comparison to the standard ones!
Luke Rainbird
Engine mods will be a little down the line at the mo - need to let my bank balance recover for a while now since this wasn't an overly planned purchase as such... Current hypothetical plans will certainly include an oversize TIP of some sort and a few bits here and there. Not quite sure how far I'll take it yet, just see what happens really I guess. Haz
Went for a Sunday drive with a pretty big grin.
Pashley26
There is only one "oversized" TIP, the SFS 80mm one. Simon Colyer from Ecotec is the man to talk to, when you want one let me know and I'll order it. He sometimes has them on the shelf, but otherwise you will have to wait a week. I get dealz and dizcountz bruv. £110 posted.
george_seamons
I don't know him, and I managed to get one for that price Haz, RARB looks good. I remember it making a HUGE difference on mine, albeit not a Clio.
Pashley26
Yeah, thats retail. I was just putting it as a guide price and then whatever he does for me is a bonus

AdamR28
Looks cool that I need an Exige in my life sometime (I'm aware that's an Elise you put up a link to, but they aren't manly enough ). Just hope they aren't a huge disappointment if / when I drive one...
