RobinJI
I heard rumour that a little while ago someone was after a set of wheels like this - I can't remember who it was, but just in case, these are up for grabs: (Rover wheels) PM for details... That was me. I'm sorted now though thanks. Only wheel I need now's a single E30 BMW BBS. Don't suppose anyone's got one kicking about? Wrayvon
The pic of your wheels didn't actually work (for me anyway). Post it again
King C
I don't think there was one, it was just a pun Silly me Edited June 21, 2013 by King C
AdamR28
Weird, works here... but they are on their way to a new owner as we speak. In unrelated news, I'm racing at Mallory Park (near Leicester) on Sunday (20 min quali, 2x 25 min races), if anyone wants some free tickets give me a shout, got 3 and can probably get more. Timetable is here... http://www.barc.net/file_download/245/HQ+1317+MP2306.pdf
george_seamons
Standard clutch on the right, Sachs paddle clutch on the left. Think pulling away might take a bit of getting used to!
Pashley26
Just don't pull away until you have to.
george_seamons
Used with a DMF, and standard pressure plate, people are reporting it feels like a stock clutch...can't see that being the case myself!
Prawny Baby
Will be fine with a stock DMF and pressure plate. Tuffty runs this, feels OE
CurtisRider
So what makes a paddle clutch better than a regular one for more power?
Skoze
Mo' bite/ grip, surely? Nearly had a bit of a mishap last night in a massive downpour, leaving a roundabout at about 20mph in 3rd, understeer on the way in followed by more than enough oversteer coming out and i was being very gentle. People look quite scared when there's 16ft of metal coming at them sideways! Cheap tyres are not the one, i know where my first pay of the summer is going. Also, got a funky judder coming from the steering, only at high-ish speeds and only when turning left... Ideas? Tracking and wheel balance seems to be ok, wheel bearings are fine. Pashley26
On the landy or the Capri?
Skoze
Capri, landy's significantly better behaved than that haha! It'll go sideways but only if you ask it to, this was a full on "euurgh, AAAAHHH" moment. Bad remoulds are bad, can't wait to get some serious rubber on it. Pashley26
On the Capri I would be looking at the prop bush, common issue is the prop bush wearing and causing the bulkhead to shake lightly. Turning left may be flexing the car slightly and causing your shake. Is it like a tug at the wheel pulling it to the left, or is it the wheel shaking? DrDoom
Had an epic drive last night. Wet roads, brand new toyo t1r's all round. 40 miles of twisty A roads in 33 minutes to go see the missus! Nice mixture of understeer and lift off oversteer to make for an amazingly fun drive! Never have I had, or been in a car that can be quite as much fun as the ep3. Yeah, it's not as fast as a lot of things on the road, but for sheer driving fun/thrills it's certainly up there! Very tail happy on the lift off! george_seamons
Had a busy day today. Started off with having to dig up our drive to get access to the mains water pipe to our house, which had split yesterday, causing a shit load of water to flood everywhere! Spent a few hours digging the hole, and cut the pipe where the hole was, and put a joiner over it...all seems well now! I then spent the rest of the day building the rest of my engine, got pretty much as far as I can without taking the current engine out of the car to rob a few bits off. Started off by torqueing the new rods up to their final tightness (50ftlbs, then loosen, then 50ftlbs, then loosen, then 55ftlbs). Once that was done, the windage tray went on, along with the new oil pump and pickup: I then spent a little while cleaning all the crap off the head, to allow the new head gasket to seat properly. Used a combination of petrol, wire wool, and 1200grit wet and dry: Once that was cleaned up, I whacked the new headgasket on the block, and put the head on, and torqued all the head bolts down. I then installed a new waterpump, thermostat, Kevlar cambelt, cambelt tensioner pulley, and hydraulic tensioner. Timed it all up, and made sure all was well, then pulled the pin on the hydraulic tensioner. I like the blue cambelt, almost seems a shame to cover it up! I then spent a little while with the petrol/wire wool/wet and dry again, to clean up the exhaust manifold gasket faces, to ensure a good seal. I then chucked a new gasket on, and put the tubular manifold on. Ran out of time to put all the nuts on. I know from last time I did this, that getting all the nuts on is a RIGHT pain in the ass. Should be a bit easier this time though, because I will actually be able to see what I'm doing, and not have to lay on my back and stretch up! (Did it with the head on the engine, in the engine bay last time...wouldn't ever do that again!) Looks so cool from underneath, its like a stainless steel porno! That's as far as I got today. Just the inlet manifold, ancillaries, the clutch/flywheel, and the gearbox to go on, then Mr Leon goes for heart surgery! Hoping to get the "old" engine out of the car tomorrow. Got an engine crane, so I'm going to whip the bonnet off, and try to get the whole engine and gearbox out in one go, rather than pissing about underneath trying to get them out!

Luke Rainbird
Seamons in "Documenting Progress" Shocker! Looks like it's all coming together nicely dude, sweet stuff! It was raining and I was bored today, so I finally got around to setting up the phone to run data logs. Haven't looked at the data yet so will do so later on, but still all clear of fault codes etc and everything feels sweet so can't complain. If any of you 1.8t gents know of an LCR/TT etc steering rack going cheap please let me know - one of these days I may actually get around to fitting the fARB and it'd make sense to throw one on whilst the subframe's dropped

Turns out I was, so to make sure the data was correct rather than a one-off went back out and did another three pulls and the numbers were bang on the same. Turns out the Leon, which should have been around 180bhp from the factory, is putting out in the region of 195bhp over 10 years later... CurtisRider
I thought yours was a nice brick construction and far more full of stuff I'm back soon so if you need help with the engine swap then give me a shout...I also have an engine crane and load leveller which I guess may be useful Hopefully going to look at a 318i SE E36 Touring today, it has quite high mileage but looks pretty immaculate other than that and has a good service history. I just need a cheap but reliable car that will get me about until I can find a job and afford something a bit tartier. I also have a heap of spares left from my old E36. This also gives me time to sort out the T25 as I fear that I will rush it if i'm desperate for transport EDIT: Or not, sold before I got a chance to even go and look at it Edited June 23, 2013 by CurtisRider
CurtisRider
E36 auto boxes, any ideas on how good they are? I quite like the idea of being lazy and I have found a clean estate with an auto box with 93k on it and a full BMW service history up to 80k. It's brick on the outside though. The back wall has shelving which is full of tools and shit (really must tidy it at some point haha!). Thanks for the offer, but I already have a crane, and I'm hoping to have the swap done by the time you get back!
