Tom Booth
Cheers, getting into notch territory now.. Just want another 20 or so mm on the back an it'll look perfect I think.
Matthew_Gibson
I think it needs spaced at the front? too much tuck?
Pete.M
Nice, I need some lows. Doing bodywork sucks. Mid-way and after shots: One side of the car is now looking pretty good.
Dan6061
Cheers for the comments guys! Tom - I'd happily roll your arches for you, or lend you the tool to have a go yourself! As long as you keep the paint soft with a heat gun, and just go easy with it, it's simple! I had to cut off bits of inner arch to get better clearance, but that's because of the amount of poke my rears have! Mine still scrubs with a bit of weight in the back, which is annoying. Might look into getting stiffer springs on the rear, but I'm not sure where to begin looking! Did a big scarey job on mine today! It kept going into limp mode if I went over 2800rpm, but if I switched it off and on again, it'd be ok again. Vag-Com'd it, and got the expected error code relating to sticky turbo vanes! So as the turbo was spooling up, the vanes were opening and getting stuck open, so instead of it over-boosting and causing damage, it would just shut off the turbo and feel like a N/A 1.0l! So I took the turbo off, got it apart to find lots of horrible black soot and gunk inside. De-greased it and cleaned it all up and got it shiney and new looking! Then got it back together, and fitted. Now it's so nice! Revs up freely, pulls really well, and no sign of it going back into limp mode! I made it sound like a simple job, but it took ages! Did it all on my mate's driveway with limited tool access. Dropped so many spanners, bolts, swear words. Cut my finger and got blood everywhere too! So glad it made a difference though! Successful jobs are the best ones.
King C
Agree'd about the successful jobs but they hardly ever happen. However, my indicator relay went on my A3 and it's concealed within the hazard switch. I queued in Euro Car Parts longer than it took me to swap it over but they always take forever when I go into ECP Edited June 29, 2012 by King C
CurtisRider
Yeah ECP and GSF are the 2 worst companies I have experienced for that, its even impossible to get them on the phone... Toms Passat is really growing on me, it looks great! Dans A4 makes me miss mine No progress on my car/vans as of late, 4 more weeks til i can drive it again though back operations suck... MadManMike
Still having trouble with my central locking, I'm reluctant to buy new parts and have them fitted as I'm sure what I have is just being stupid and not actually broken... Grr.

LukasMcNeal
I wasn't so sold on the new focus until after seeing these pics of a zetec S. Subtle changes and its actually quite a stunning car I reckon!! thoughts? Does this one have a front where they look pretty similar to aston martins? Pashley26
Does this one have a front where they look pretty similar to aston martins? No that's the Mondeo. New focus ST out in September, I saw one today. Does anybody give a f**k? No. Do I give a f**k? No.
MadManMike
Symptoms dude?? Front passenger door doesn't respond to central locking (Door key, not remote). However, if you push the knob half way down or pull the handle so it's half way up it will lock / unlock. Once locked or unlocked it won't respond again... Sometimes, say 1 in 10, it will unlock when I open the car. It will never lock randomly though.
King C
The solenoid could be broken/linkage could be dislodged.
MadManMike
Yeah I read somewhere that the solenoid could be the problem. I'll take a look at how much it'll cost to get it replaced I think. It's not a huge problem but it's a bit annoying!
King C
Maybe try taking the door card off and locating the solenoid. The problem could seem obvious and might save you a bit of cash.
RobinJI
What Mr C said, door cards are usually pretty simple to get off, and it could well just be something obvious wrong with the linkage, have a play and you may be happy. (Says the guys who's car's central locking doesn't work at all, and has had a drivers window that needs pulling up the last inch by hand because it's not in the runners properly, both of which could probably be solved easily by taking the doorcards off, but hasn't be arsed to do anything about either for 9 months.) MadManMike
Haha, same as me really - I want it fixed but can't get off my arse to actually look inside the door! I must do it.
