JD™
When are you bringing it round to get some pics in the countryside?
Luke Rainbird
By that I hope you mean JD hopping in and a trek down here Could get Jardo to clean it while you're at it.
JD™
If we did that, I'd happily hoon down in mine as well for the giggles. The hardest part is finding the time!
DrDoom
As above. 110mph in a 70 is a ban, right? I have a funny feeling there was a talivan on the bridge - it was getting dark and I couldn't make it out. Stood on the brakes as soon as I saw it. george_seamons
Will be too late...it can see you before you can see it (they can work up to 1km away). You had just better hope they were only setting up or had just packed away. You might get "lucky" and only get 6 points and a big fine (providing you have been driving more than two years). If not, you'll have to wave goodbye to your license I'm afraid
Muel
Sausage! Never speed under bridges!
DrDoom
Yeah, fingers crossed time - I know I'll of been caught if it was operational - which chances are it will of been as there was a massive cruise nearby.
george_seamons
Go on www.forums.pepipoo.com. Its a really really useful site for situations such as this. Worth signing up and telling them exactly what you have just told us. They will tell you to come back when you have the NIP, and write the exact details. Good luck! RobinJI
I think I'm right in saying that anything over 1.5x the speed limit has potential for a ban. You may get off light with a ban of just a couple of weeks and a fine with no points, good luck with it.
manuel
I thought anything 100mph+ was instant ban regardless, with increasing time period with how many times you've been nailed.
Muel
I thought it was double the limit or anything over 100mph.
Revolver
If anyone has any use for three rota slipstream 15" alloy wheels in gunmetal (there's a fourth one with a crack in it), 4 bolt, to fit a honda (or with spigot rings to fit vauxhall), then send me a PM. george_seamons
There's no "set" punishment, although there are guidelines for sentancing. Good mitigation (such as needing a license for work, doing shopping for elderly relatives, transporting ill wife, etc etc (has to affect other people though...punishment is MEANT to affect the offender!) can change license revoking points into a (relatively) short ban. Depends on the judge on the day though. Best advice always seems to be to turn up in a suit, looking smart and showing remorse, and just appealing to their better nature basically. shamus
I thought the 100mph /double the limit was a court summons not instant ban? But anyway that capri looks an awesome base vehicle! Good luck with transformation!
george_seamons
There's no such thing as an "instant ban", correct.

Pashley26
Hows the other side looking these days? How long have you had the CF bonnet for? Shit. Lol! He has had the carbon bonnet for pretty much two years. It was originally on my old A3, but Prawn being the piss taker he is swapped it for a standard bonnet because the carbon bonnet made the car look chavy...Flol. Prawny Baby
haha, I'm such a winner. The old owner of Jardo/Pierres old car was having issues selling it, I told him it was due to the chavy carbon bonnet, and kindly offered him a deal with an exchange for my volcano black bonnet to match his car. We swapped, he sold it within a week, go figure? And i got a mint carbon bonnet from it The otherwise looks just fine thanks sort of. Give me 2 weeks. CurtisRider
Haha nice one. Being black I guess it doesn't stand out which is a bonus as otherwise they look pretty nasty on other colour cars. How come you haven't gone with lexan windows like Seamons did?
Prawny Baby
How come you haven't gone with lexan windows like Seamons did? Ask george about how fecking horrible his car was with plastic windows. He and Liam sweated like feck on the way to germany, so much so that he actually removed the front windows for the drive home, then got utterly soaked in a freak storm. Oh how we laughed. realistically, it's 1100kg and 350bhp as it is, and retains electric windows, an alarm, stereo, and remote central locking. I don't think the 0.5S per lap I'd gain from removing all those really outweighs the negatives of not having them. For me, if you can't wind the windows down, turn the stereo up, and blast along your favourite country road on a sunny sunday afternoon, then you've probably gone a bit too far for something that's still road legal.same logic with the Mini, which also retains full glass and wind up windows. the other issue is weight distribution, just going perspex on the rear will shift the weight bias even further forward, and it's already about 65/35 as it is, hence things being added in the back (meth tank, battery) and removed from the front now. I'm also hoping to add some form of rear spoiler soon to try and reduce lift at the rear. I doubt any net gain in down force will occur, but if I can at least reduce lift a bit it's got to help with the light rear end at high speeds'
RobinJI
Glad to see the A3's working again. A wing sounds like a fairly good plan, I'd probably be looking at a diffuser first though. Even though a diffuser coming off a stock underside's probably not going to work cleanly and nicely to give any real downforce, it should remove the majority of the problem areas giving lift under there. A3's are pretty slippery for a hatchback, it'd be a shame to ruin that with a BGW. Completely understand where you're coming from with keeping a few creature comforts. It's what I plan to do with the Scirocco when it's no longer a daily. Stripped and track ready, but not purely a racing car. Speaking of BGW's, my old MX-5 was at Combe on Saturday along with some other stuff: Can you tell I was practicing panning shots Must sort through my photos from Sunday at Wiscombe too.
