Skoze
Cheers dude I'm getting so excited about this - been ringing around all over the place trying to arrange some awesome deals and tracking down all the parts I want for it. If anyone knows of some wide RS 4-spokes, let me know.

Haz
Rainbird's car be pimpin'. Mine is less pimpin'. A couple of weeks back it decided 4 spark plugs wasn't the way to go, so it popped one. Luckily the inlet sits on top of the rocker cover and stopped the plug going through my bonnet. This is what the plugs looked like after limping home 2 miles... Compared to the old plugs from the last change. And this is what they did to my HT lead... Stripped the top down endoscope in the cylinder etc, compression test, all good. New plug, new set of HT leads, and it ran like a bag of spanners, worst misfire I have ever heard. Tested the coil pack and was all fine replaced the coil pack anyway and 2 minutes later the engine was back to normal. Got the car booked in to have the sump resealed, some ARP rod bolts put in (ready for cams/remap later this year) and every thing will be hunky dory. Also... Shiny. LiamWood!
I'm having a bit of a dilemma. Since my ball joint snapped at the weekend I've sort of lost faith in my civic. It has a few niggly problems but I have a donor turbo engine so do I buy another civic but a vti and have a bit of vtec before I do the swap. Or do I just keep my 1.4 and swap that and sort the problems out? Anyone got any input on this? Been in a similar situation?
Tom Booth
Doubt you'll get much help tbf as its your decision really, personally thou drop the good motor in your current car, sort the niggles and you'll soon forget about the past problems. Greetings
Meh, never going to wear gloves again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G32imrjdR5A Hope it's not the diff and rather the universal joint on the prop shaft. I managed to get half way to the workshop and whatever broke stopped transferring torque onto the wheels. If it's the diff then I've probably got no teeth left on the pinion. On the plus side BMW Challenge is starting in 2 weeks and I want to win the season, this would be impossible if the car failed on that event rather than this one.
King C
Why are you never going to wear gloves again? I was waiting for one to get tangled or something. Whatever you've done, sounds lovely. At least you go out in style.

CurtisRider
Before and after pics are always good. I need to find my clay bar, I started doing my car and then got bored... I tried some of that cheap Demon Shine stuff the other day, it made my car look significantly better with virtually no effort...WINNER! Pete.M
I was just amused by how ruined it was. It must've lacked oil for some period of its life, because that's not normal.

At least you go out in style. Nah, just joking. Everyone kept saying wear gloves or you'll damage the steering wheel, so I got some gloves and had my first DNF in over half a year. Could be a coincidence I guess... Just to fill you with hope , here's my mates E36 diff: Good luck! Can't wait to hear about the Capri ventures Skoze I've been thinking about this a bit and if it's not a u-joint, it's almost certainly that. The speedo was not consistent with the actual speed and the indication is from the crown wheel. So logically, the problem can't be between the crown wheel and pinion. The only question is that would such damage cause the whole body to vibrate so badly? Furthermore, the noise was so biblical that I ended up "walking" the car to the shop - put it in gear, got out and held the wheel. Otherwise it felt like wearing a bucket and having someone hit it with a hammer.
Pete.M
When you say it caused the body to vibrate, could that be a result of the teeth not meshing properly and creating a sort of driveline shunt? That would be the same experience my mate had, his car would sort of jump from one position to the next because the teeth were getting jammed/grinded.
trials owns
Was helping my mate take of the manifold on his car, It appears the stud has snapped inside the engine block itself. its a 1.8t, Being upgraded too a ko4 turbo, Will we need to get this stud out? Much of a job? Or would it be ok too secure the manifold back on leaving the snapped bolt in?, Bear in mind it will be pushing over 250bhp+ when finished. george_seamons
Inlet or exhaust manifold? Either way, its not a good idea to leave it. Jardo's dad managed to get a snapped exhaust stud out of his head, in the car. Which is nothing short of legendary! Very worst case is you'll need to take it off, and get it to a machine shop to get it drilled out If you dont sort it out, it WILL blow the gaskets, and leak like a bitch.
Pashley26
Everything that Seamons has said is correct. Now that I have experience of removing 1.8t heads, drilling studs and doing K04 conversions I would say take the head off. Especially if he is fitting an upgraded/Relentless manifold to it. A 1.8t head can be off in an hour and a half, an hour to remove the old stud with left handed drill bits and easy outs, then facing with a decent wet and dry and an hour and a half to get it all back together...If you work at it solid. It will take you three hours just to remove the stud with it in situ; even if you have someone like my dad to hand. Then putting the exhaust manifold on the head in situ is a killer job. Most loose 1.8t studs are that way because the last mechanic that graced it couldn't get to the bolts to do them up.
