Skoze
I have done more to my car in the last two months than I have seen from you lot for years; When did the Audi get completely re-built in a weekend? I'm fully up for a "profile" of everyone's cars to get things going again though. It's sunny today so i'll try and get down the seafront for a few photos
Luke Rainbird
My only suggestion Jardo...if lots of people are saying the same thing, it must be true!Werd. Just look at Christianity
Prawny Baby
It's not my fault George was desperate to get rid of an engine for less than its worth? He wanted rid quickly, I bought it, you wanted an engine, you bought it, simple? I'm not sure how that relates to what I originally said anyway. My car isn't broken, I found out why it had thrown a fault and it was all stemming from when my rather new battery failed and that had produced a fault code that prevented my glow plugs from engaging. I was being light hearted dude I was more than happy with our deal, but would genuinely like to be able to find turn arounds that make quick cash like that! Glad your car isn't broken, all I remember is a post saying it was having issue, then nothing more about it. Jardo does have a point in some ways, obviously he's gone way over the top in making it and insulting everyone, but there is a point deep down there somewhere. Everyone has their own agenda these days, they post their own pics and don't bother replying to others, and I mean everyone, myself included, we're all guilty of it at times. There IS a lot less activity in here, I rarely write updates specific to trials forum, but when adding to my audi-sport build thread, before clicking submit I'll often Crtl+A Ctrl+C and then paste it onto here, just incase anyone cares. The thread lacks pictures, or interaction, someone posts their own pic, next person ignores it totally and asks their question, next person to come along replies to the pic posted, and the question is lost. shit happens. I guess it's not a car forum though at the end of the day..... 1st world problems and all that
greg1040
Suggestions folks. Want to stage 2+ my car. Options I know of for hpfp I can upgrade my internals with autotech internals? anyone used these what's your thoughts? I can have apr rebuild mine? Or I can buy a hole apr unit or loba unit which cost around £7-800. Or upgrade internals which are around 300-
Prawny Baby
ouch, thats some serious money for fuelling! I doubt anyone on here has an direct experience of HPFP tfsi setups, but I've heard of several people just doing the internals for the cheaper route and not having issues at ~360bhp. I have the same billet compressor wheel as yours in my ko4 hybrid, it's beautiful! Here's a picture of it you probably won't have seen when you open your bonnet, it's well hidden:
greg1040
Yeh most people seem to have gone down the internals route without any problems running anywhere between 360-380. I think as long as everything is clean and put together right there shouldn't be any problems. People sometimes get a wee smell off petrol in there oil but supposedly nothing worth worrying about. Also cam follower needs done fairly often think about every 5000 miles to be on the safe side. Ahh the joys of modding cars never ending but the power increase of say 30-40bhp for £350 can't complain. Really fancy tracking my car this year something I have always wanted to do still need a few upgrades before then such as tyres and brakes for starterAlso very nice looking bit of kit Some guy on the r forum is going to be getting custom mapped by Nikki at r tech looking forward to seeing the results of a custom map not sure on his hardware though think he's just a standard car
Revolver
So I'm here for some advice. This happened. Which incidentally explains why my tyre has been going flat so much. How do I go about fixing this? Is it a specialist's job, or can anyone with a welder and the skills to use it fix it? I wonder if I should show the picture to the local council and try to get them to pay for it.
CurtisRider
What wheels are they? Might be cheaper/easier to just find one secondhand on ebay if its common
Revolver
Rota Slipstream wheels. I take it you can't just weld it up yourself then?
CurtisRider
You need to find somebody who welds aluminium, however personally I wouldn't run a repaired wheel
Revolver
Sigh, I do have the original set of alloys that came on this car. The sidewalls on them tyres are huge! It understeers all over the place on those tyres.
LiamWood!
I wouldn't post my car because its not a Audi/Seat/VW. With that alloy, I'd see if you could find a single rim on eBay. Slips aren't uncommon.
Revolver
I can find a single used one for £110 posted, but I really don't wanna pay that for a new wheel. Hell, if I can sell mine for £100 each... I'll have made money on them!
Pete.M
I wouldn't post my car because its not a Audi/Seat/VW. That's precisely why you should post your car.
LiamWood!
That's precisely why you should post your car. Ok lol, here is just one off my photo bucket. Please excuse the paint pealing off the lip, the joys of poly lips! This was also before I had the front bumper painted and smoothed. Duncy H
All this talk about people not posting pictures and no one is posting pictures haha. Hell no real reason for them but here goes. How the mini is sat at the moment Need to borrow an engine crane and then I can properly crack on with it. Anybody got any opinions on what I should do with the build then speak up cause I'm not totally sure myself yet. Here's a picture of the golf, I bought it before Christmas and haven't cleaned it at all lol. Bet jardo is having a heart attack. Got some anti roll bar drop links to go on tomorrow and hopefully that will sort the knocking out. Although I have a feeling my cv joint has had it too :'( Peace out. CurtisRider
I'm still confused why you dont just lift the shell up and pull the engine from the bottom?
Duncy H
Cause I want to keep the shell rolling. Seems easier with the room in my garage and drive to lift it out too. Just been told I might be able to get a free micra in a month or so.
