The Car Thread

I actually prefer yours :( Should still look nice though. On a side note are you sure the other bolt holes on yours aren't 5x112, not 110? 110 would be quite an odd fitment, especially for OEM audi replica wheels. (Don't mean to be picky, I just don't want you to miss out on a sale through a typo/mistake)

If I still had my Passat I'd probably have been very tempted to convert it to 5 stud and buy them. Unfortunately 17's would need rubber band tyres to fit a Scirocco, and they really wouldn't suit it styling wise anyway! Good luck shifting them, I'm sure it won't take long.

J-Drizzle is off to R-tech today, so I'm going to pre-empt some rambling about the awesomeness of a man named Gower, and a car named Ron that 99.6% of you will never see.

Philler thinks it's named Ron because it's Burgandy, but in actual fact it's short for Ronald MacDonnald, because you'd have to be a clown to drive a totally standard A3 with 300bhp

it wasn't a typo, it was an error.

2 and 0 are nowhere even close on a laptop or phone keyboard

They are on mine, no idea about Jarrods. (A number-pad was a major need when I bought my laptop, sod studying a mathematical science without one.)

What's this about Jardo slaying a 400bhp Leon then?

He took a guys Leon out, and spazzed the gear change...went from 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th. Biiiiiiig over-rev and dead engine :(

I did that in my civic once, but I was slowing down, dropped into 3rd from 4th still doing over a tonne, 3rd gear limiter is at 92mph. Didn't result in a dead engine though. It loved it really.

A £150 eBay turbo which is based on a GT28 which was bought second hand on Driftworks for £70...

A year and 8000 miles later it's been off and is as good as new inside.

So now every man and their dog is looking to make a budget GT28 build; it can be done to the same level for less than £1200 if you do the work yourself.

Trouble with those cheap chinese turbos though is the inconsistency of them. Yeah you could spend £1200 and have an awesome car, but there's a fair chance you'd spend £1200 and have a shagged turbo and some bent con-rods. Simons car's awesome, but luck's played a really quite large part in it's low budget ;) I'm chuffed it's worked out for him, but I'd hesitate to tell someone else to try the same.

Me chasing after the Leon in Phils A3 -

Ive got to say, Phils leon is quick off the mark! Not as fast as mine out of first gear, but as far as launches go it's pretty good!
