Greetings
Paid a deposit on the S2k do secure first dibs for the spring. Car is coming over for it's annual winter storage in a week or two. The owner has been kind enough to give me a choice of what mods I want to buy it with, so far chose these: - Seat belt lock - XYZ 330mm 6 piston brakes - 4.56 final drive torsen diff - Buddy Club RSD coilovers - Fujita cold air intake - NRG X-Brace - Pimp Alpine unit, amp and speakers, all nicely hidden away There's still a Supersprint exhaust to buy if I'm interested, would probably prefer stock though. It's not a quiet car as it is anyway, and induction noise is always going to be better than exhaust noise. Can't wait. Out of all the cars I've ever driven, the S2k is the most fun by a long way. Not sold on the white coat but that can be removed easily and cheaply. More pics:

CurtisRider
That really is rather lovely, that would be one of my first choices if I was after a little 2 seater
Luke Rainbird
Robin: sorry to being up a point from before but you mentioned something about straightening a wheel - a friend of mine has a slight wobble to one of his 18" turbines (new 'rocco) from clipping a pothole - have you got the kit that's be able to sort that sort of thing at all? Be interesting to have a go at getting it a little more balanced again!
N.Wood
f**king roads are TERRIBLE down here at the moment. Pothole city.

N.Wood
Nah, sucks... Our flooding seems to have affected them pretty badly. Lots of little rivers created from field run off washing onto the roads.
CurtisRider
Cheap but good wheel spacers...do they exist? Currently have 10mm on the back, would like to whack 20s on and put the 10s upfront. I was looking at these on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Delta-Mics-20mm-Wheel-Spacers-VAUXHALL-Zafira-5x110-65-1-/400315703649?pt=UK_Cars_Parts_Vehicles_Wheels_tyre_Trims_Trims_ET&hash=item5d34ace161 Not actually sure where else to look to be honest, I keep getting bugged about what birthday presents i want and figured some spacers would be pretty cool
RobinJI
Luke: Well my 'kit' is a large rubber mallet, a hammer with some leather/rubber over the head, and an old hub clamped in a vice... So yeah, not exactly specialist stuff! There's companies out there that can do that sort of thing easily though if it's beyond beating with a hammer. A mate had this: Transformed to this: By a company in Swindon called Lepsons. Think it was around £50. That's an extreme example though! Mine's nowhere near that bad (it's not really visible by eye when the wheels stationary) so I'm having a go my self, as it's only actually very slight deformation to bend it back. That company will be my back-up if I can't get it good though! Edited January 13, 2013 by RobinJI
CurtisRider
Do you heat it when you try to bend it? If not, surely bending alloy cold will just create lots of little stress marks/fractures?
RobinJI
Paul, FK seem to have a lot on sale at the moment, for example: 20mm hubcentric spacers to suit Saab 9-3 for £26.76 Personally with spacers that you aren't bolting into I'd always go for aluminium ones, no point in the extra unsprung weight of steel ones. RobinJI
I'd assume they'd have to with something as severe as the one in that picture. I haven't with mine, but it's really not much of a bend, enough to screw things up, but in terms of the distance I'm bending the metal it's very little, from what I've seen of bending alloys, both intentionally and unintentionally, you can get away with quite a lot as they tend to be quite a soft/malleable grade of material. MadManMike
f**king roads are TERRIBLE down here at the moment. Pothole city. Likewise. Driving all over the road to avoid all the holes - so annoying. Can't always avoid them if there's oncoming traffic and then BANG, the worry of whether or not your tyre will stay inflated... Edit, grr.. why do multiple posts only sometimes merge automatically! It's a time thing, if you reply quickly it merges them to cut down the appearance of spam. After 10 minutes or something it will post it separately.
Revolver
Word on the potholes. They seem to turn up overnight. I suppose what with all the cars rumbling everywhere they happen pretty quickly.
Prawny Baby
I like honda, they make good cars, and get exceptional power figures from their engines, but seriously, that is SO loud for something that can't be making even 200bhp. It's just not needed. doesn't sound nice to me, just angry. Considering mine puts out 353bhp and isn't even remotely loud at all, it all just seems a bit 'All mouth and no trousers' if you know what I mean? That S2000 though, is LOVELY! I hate the Buddy club spec 3. The only time it EVER sounds good if you've got a built NA engine and it's revving at 10/11k going past you. However, its so damn loud that no race track will let you on, and on a daily you aren't always smashing the shit out of the limiter on your journeys so it's just awful. Prawny Baby
I'm glad that as a honda man you still agree Si, it's just silly. With a decent exhaust V-tecs can sound properly awesome on full chat, but the one above is just offensive. Sangers B18C4 mini with a skunk2 inlet and single box 2'' exhaust system sounded absolutely insane around Castle Combe, properly amazing noise for a 4 pot. Not entirely sure how it ever came about. It's basically a straight pipe with a trumpet on the end, so retarded. I had a Vibrant backbox on mine, loved the sound of it. Deep in lower, dece on full chat. That's the worst, and best thing about Honda 4 bangers, they can sound raspy and farty with the wrong exhaust, but with the right exhaust just sound crisp and raw. Do miss my Honda, need to get my Silvia manual asap so i can enjoy it driving it with the stupid 3" exhaust the previous owner put on :/
LiamWood!
I've got a spec 2 on my civic, videos can never fully prepare you for how loud they actually are. It did make a bit of difference coming from a buddy club pro spec to the spec 2. I will be going back to the pro spec for the b16 turbooz I think though. Prawny Baby
Everyone needs flames though Danny Last night on a little drive through some dark woods it did a flame so big (I can only assume it was a flame) that it lit up the trees orange in my rear view
Luke Rainbird
Some git nabbed my rear towing eye cover at the weekend - bazzard! No other damage though by the looks of it, so got a new one arriving on Wednesday and a can of spray ready to welcome it home. Less that £7 from the stealers so can't moan. Going to get them to check out the coilpacks while I'm there too I think, just in case I can rinse them for a set of those too!Still fighting the will to spend money doing things to the car 'til I actually save it though... Its more of a case of its there, its in your face, drawing attention to the car, which if like that brown civic, its built for looks, a buddyclub s2 dangling off the back just add to it all. Also i like it because its not gay and HUGE but packs amazing punch. For the spitting flames honda fans http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAOIlTJ0_5M&list=PLD3BAC30E05F5B8B1&index=14 Actual start at 1:30.
