RobinJI
I'm working tomorrow too actually, forgot about that! I'll see how I'm feeling about the dump valve, I don't want to build up too much debt with mates, haha, I already own Prawn half the contents of an A3's engine bay! Danny
Whats the crack with those crazy clocks? You had to rotate them to fit or something?
RobinJI
Yeah exactly that, the aperture in the Scirocco is rectangular and quite small, while the one in the Passat they came from's much bigger and kind of semicircular. I had to turn the dial faces and their needles around so the non-swept area was the bit that was out of view. If you look at the position of their pivot points relative to the side of the clocks you can see why having them in a 'normal' orientation would cause issues. Sooner or later I'll cut a new fascia out of vinyl with everything the right way up and stick it to some clear plastic, but this does the job for now and the numbers being the wrong way up really doesn't bother me at all, I've always been fine with reading things whatever way up/round they are. Plus once you've driven the first few miles in a car you're only really looking at the angle of the needle, not the numbers anyway. Prawny Baby
was going to say, when time allows, you could cut out your own facias and just cut the needles down a bit couldn't you and have it all normal looking again? would probably only need 5mm or so off the needles to allow them to go back to a typical orientation. Fully working OEM DV in my garage that you can have for free mate. I'll bring it down for christmas.
Danny
The GF's MK6 fiesta is misfiring like mad. Changed the coil pack and no improvement. I got a set of plugs today to put in tonight. The leads are bosch and look in decent nick. Any other ideas if the plugs don't fix it?

Don't be too sure about the leads, they were the cause of a slight misfire on my focus.

Danny
Nope oil is always good.
RobinJI
I'm guessing if you've changed the coil-pack their earth's all good, but it's always worth checking.
Danny
I presume the coil pack just earths by its bolts as there were copper rings around the bolt holes.
RobinJI
Yeah they often do, that's why I was saying it'd probably be fine if you'd replaced it. Not always though, how many coil-packs are there and how many wires go to each? Jardo/Rainbird, looks like I'm working Friday instead of tomorrow now, and the wheels have balanced up well enough to make 70 alright (higher's still a bit wobbly), could well be up for popping down to see you guys. I'm waiting to hear when I need to work on Friday, it may only be an hour or 2 in the morning (wheel bearing + service on a clio) so that might still be an option. Luke Rainbird
Jardo's now working tomorrow mate, so I'm out at the rents tomorrow sorting out the Rover ready for a new owner who's hopefully collecting on Friday. Popped a new fuel filter in there just now but it's taking a second to start each time, so going to rebuked the system in the morning to get that nice and sharp and try to adjust the clutch pedal a tad - bite is solid as a rock and has been throughout the 18 months I've had the car but is low which can be a bit annoying. Hoping its easy to adjust If we can't make this week work then we'll just make sure this mini-meet over Christmas is a winner instead
RobinJI
That's cool. Are you free Friday? Here's to hoping they'll drop this clio in first thing/the night before so I can do it in the morning then head down. If they leave it tomorrow night then I'll start on it at 7:30 and should be able to be down for 11 easily enough.
DrDoom
Bit of a strange one here, its not really a problem, just something I cant seem to explain. Vivaro van. Same as primastar, trafic ect... Turn the key, allow all the lights to go out, then when you go to start it, theres absoloutely nothing for a few seconds before the starter decides it actually wants to work... No clicking, no nothing... Just a massive delay before the starter actually works.
Luke Rainbird
@Robin - will keep you posted as I'm not sure what time the prospective buyer will be here yet. Jardo should be around I think though, so I can always meet you a little later on in the day
