MadManMike
So, door lock was frozen solid... Took a while to get in to the car. When I got in, there was thick ice on the inside of the windows again. I'm really not going to enjoy this winter.
AdamR28
Have you got an MX-5 too? I just don't lock my door, that helps. Although I usually have to pour hot water all round the seal to get the door open
N.Wood
So, door lock was frozen solid... Took a while to get in to the car. When I got in, there was thick ice on the inside of the windows again. I'm really not going to enjoy this winter. I get a thin coating of frost on the inside of my octavia window now and again, usually because I have a wet bike in the back or its been raining and I get in wet. Anyway, I ordered a silicone pouch dehumidifier thing off ebay so will try that and see if it makes any difference. Was like £1.
MadManMike
Mine is a Leon and it suffers from what I like to call "Cheese Grater Syndrome" - all Leons get it. Basically they have holes, everywhere. As a result I have a pond in the rear foot wells which overnight makes its way onto all 6 windows and then freezes into a pretty sheet of frozen f**k. Which is most enjoyable at 7:30am. On the plus side, I've just ordered a new exhaust so at least it won't sound like a f**ked stock car any more. CurtisRider
Why don't you just replace the seals? I have a set of door seals you can have, feck know if they are any good, have to ask George as he used the car last
MadManMike
It's the doors and the boot - replacing the seals appears to be a real pain in the arse too, you have to take all the panels off the inside and silicone it all up. We did it to a friends car and it didn't work, after almost a whole days work
Dan6061
I had that problem, but I programmed my windows to open/close when I hold the unlock/lock buttons on my key fob. Door frozen shut, open window from outside, open door from inside, win.
MadManMike
Only problem there is that mine's not remote I couldn't get the key into the lock.
george_seamons
Apparently you have to use butyl, silicone doesnt work for some reason.
RobinJI
Scirocco's clutch has turned out to be a knackered pressure plate. New clutch will be ordered up tomorrow morning and hopefully here for lunchtime, so with any luck it'll be on the road properly tomorrow evening. Collecting the new wheels at the weekend too, which should help it look a bit better, the ones I'm borrowing at the moment don't look as bad as I was expecting, but they still leave a lot of room for improvement! I think it's going to be a bit of a challenge getting it to sit right on the new wheels as they're a little big compared to what I'd usually go for but I think if I get it right it'll look really good, I'm just expecting to need some arch work (and maybe a chassis notch) to get it as low as I want without loosing all my suspension travel. Prawny Baby
awesome news on both counts lads : I want a ride in both of these 20vt beasts over the xmas break! As the saying goes, One black one, one white one, one one with a bit of shite on.... So I guess I'll have to go in jardo's car as well I have new shiney stuff too! Luke Rainbird
Yeah man, definitely. Mine'll be completely standard though so don't expect too much Generic drinks/catchup with the whole SW crew at some point over the Christmas break perhaps? I can barely remember the last time I saw everyone during daylight hours and sober! One black one, one white one, one one with a bit of shite on.... Sounds more like the results of a mixed-race orgy...
RobinJI
Catch-up sounds good, I've been planning to make it down to Castle Prawn over Christmas at some point, we'll have to make sure all us visitors are about over the same day or 2. Nick, mine can be the one with some shit on it, at least until I polish the stains off the bonnet from the bat excrement that built up while it was in the barn! New Golf VR6 clutch kit has been ordered and will arrive at the parts place at 4, I'll be heading straight over to the workshop to get it fitted and the box back on as quick as possible. If I'm lucky I may get it going this evening. I'd been wanting to knock up a lower strut-brace while I was waiting for the clutch but I realised with the box off I can't check it's clearance so I won't have a clue if it'll fit or not. Pashley26
The bloke that owns the Chinese across the road just came out and gave me a tub of crispy chilli beef and said "you wash car more than my wife has showers...hahahahaha" What a hero.

Luke Rainbird
Hero indeed. Saving Plymouth from hunger one step at a time... You about at all next week dude? May pop round and get you to give the Leon a quick check over with VAGCOM if you're cool with that - see if there are any little bits that may be hiding under the surface
Pashley26
To be fair his wife does f**king stink, so it's probably true. I'm not sure you understand quite how much I would love to do that Rbird. Thursday is my day off and I'm free all day for you. Is it metallic black? I've spent the last 6 weeks saving the black paint on the A3, so I've got some very good products to make it tip top. Have you got £150ish spare? I'll give my mate a ring and we'll get you some coilovers, I'll introduce you to Phil Miller and you'll be gangster as f**k within a couple of weeks. Phil Miller has got a set of 18" BBS CH reps kicking about with good tires on them too, I'll see how much he wants for them. Same as this - Apart from LCR wheels they are the only acceptable shoes for a Leon. Edited December 6, 2012 by Pashley26
Luke Rainbird
I'm owed a shitload of time from work at the mo so will take Thursday and perhaps another day or two just because I can. How was the meet last night? (I think you said it was last night?!) Edit; For your edit. At the mo I'm now out of cash to throw at this - In the new year or so I may look at tweaking a few bits though, so it'll wait. Give it time. Wheels look smart though. Paintwork is black, but I couldn't tell you which particular shade of black. Will check it all out on arrival and go from there.

Pashley26
Fancy coming way up north? My paint work is shit! And metallic black also (A) Pay my time and it's a deal haha. I am owed a trip up to see Mr Garrett to sort out his beauty some time... - Cool beans Rbird, book Thursday and we'll hope for good weather. If there is anything that you need sorting bodywork wise then let me know, or if there is any immediate issues be sure to ask and I'll try and help. I think we'll Acid X it back and start a fresh, as long as you're happy to put a good few hours into it. I'll try and teach you a couple of bits.
