Nose of a Westfield ready to go on that one? Very little on my own car lately, which is frustrating. Need to get a little bit of welding done on the mani I pinched from Prawny (there's a real crustacean theme going on here...) as I've modified that a touch to hopefully make it more reliable, but otherwise the engine/turbo stuff is just on the stand in the garage. The car is still used as my daily though so enjoying it. I have, however, been continuing to try and get my head around video editing for the stuff Nick and I are doing. He went up and met Jamie from Officially Gassed last weekend, which meant I had about 8 hours editing time in which to go through 4 hours of footage and make something acceptable in order to get it out the same time as OG. It's far from pro as a result (that's mainly me being grossly inept rather than the timeframe alone), but you can see what the day was like here: Off to Silverstone in a couple of weeks as Nick's doing a charity day for Mission Motorsport, so hopefully get a load more footage and churn out a video of the day from that too. I'm quite enjoying figuring it all out though, and looking forward to making more videos this year (Hopefully including Prawn vs Lobster!). Would quite like to pick up a reasonable camera setup to do more with, though don't want to spunk too much cash as we've got baby #2 arriving in April, so keeping half an eye out second hand for either a few-years-old DSLR or a cheap used mirrorless camera to have some fun with. Lots of bits coming over the next few weeks for the EG6, hoping to have it painted in time to get it assembled before summer. 99% sure on the parts I need to build the K24 now so I’d like to get on with that sooner than later. Integra has been flawless. The addition of power steering along with longer ratios and a helical LSD has made it so much nicer to use on the road. Very enjoyable, just needs to be a tad quieter. EK9 is proving to be a paper work headache, being put back and forth between the DVLA and HMRC over which route to go as the previous owner(s) have not provided proof of the import duty being paid on arrival back from Guernsey, which is making V5C application a small nightmare. Mini is largely still as it was a few months ago. Engine work is slow but I have removed a few more odds and sods. I’ve a mountain of parts to itemise/catalogue and more to collect from the previous owner including 3 other 1275cc GT lumps. Think I have nearly 3 complete sets of glass for the thing now. A returning customer has left his CRX VT in for a replacement clutch, flywheel, driveshafts, head gasket, service and turbo installation. Going to keep a record of this as I go on so I’ll update as and when significant progress is made. Going to dig the Golf out of hibernation for a run this year too with a view to getting it sold. Had bought it to break it but I’ve driven it the last two days and it drives too well to be tearing it apart, I love it! It’s aged really well in my opinion, still has most of what you get in a newer car. Cruise control, A/C, individual climate control, hands free, aux/Bluetooth in etc.. comfortable too. All double wishbone suspension all round like the older civics and integras I’m used to so I can’t help wondering what a well sorted one would be like on track. For a larger car it feels surprisingly capable and very fun to drive, like a “big” Integra DC5. K24 is very punchy for an N/A petrol low down too which further intrigues me as to how the built K24 I’m doing will go once it’s in the EG or Integra. Collected another Civic the same week too from a Salvage yard in Lancashire. 34k miles and a solid shell. With neither the coupe or the EG near ready this seemed a great candidate to drop one of my K20s in with the short box and get into a state to sling round track over summer before I get it up for sale. There’s also a DelSol VTI and an EG5 LSI in the same yard I seem to be closing a deal on too. If the deal goes ahead that brings my total to 12 cars.. give or take. Tom Booth Posted March 4, 2020 Report Share Posted March 4, 2020 It wasnt a dig by the way, just something I've noticed A mate of mine had a turbo B18 dc2 (I think..) a few months after he found the shell was just rotten out so swapped it into a civic, couldn't tell you the chassis code. After that he got bored and shifted the shell on then dropped it into a CRX. All in that time he bought an Accord saloon, either rebuilt or swapped a K20 into that (struggle to remember what it came with). Swapped the saloon shell for an estate and just kept building. Here you can see the horrendous angle of the number plate...to be fixed. Fitted my new KODE steering wheel, need to machine up a short quick release boss because i cant reach the stalks with my normal sized hands. Spent a day polishing with Autosmart Mirror and afine black pad on the rotary, finished with Poorboys black hole and a coat of Fusso sealant. Towstrap and GV lip fitted also! Its official...new Instagram handle for the car On my commute back from work, literally loving this little nugget New wheels purchased should be with me soon.... plenty more to come too! Made a good start on the manifold the other day. New clutch went in along with a 6spd gearbox. Laid out the old ( mk2 ) and new ( mk2.5 ) exhausts. Fair bit to make up between the two, so the downpipe will be extended further underneath the car than planned. Took a stock photo of a kraken downpipe, ordered up some bends and 3" 304 tubing and set at it with the MIG tacking it together. Terrible picture but you can see the rough routing of the exhaust. Extra tubing to be made up with my decat pipe. Lovely Cobra bucket seat finally in, put the original oem runners in with the seatbelt tabs. Seats very grubby again but looks better. Decided to design some new gauge faces , Porsche font with a matt black front and pure white numbers. Needles will be recoloured purple. Once I get a house, which hopefully will be later this year, mine is going on axle stands for a few months and I'm gonna refresh all the arms and bits and bobs underneath. Unfortunately the clutch the customer supplied for the CRX is wrong so that’s on hold until a replacement turns up. Can’t progress with the turbo hoses and feeds while there’s no box on. Came to the unit yesterday and did some head scratching on what I was going to use on track this summer and the most realistic car for a quick turn round was my Civic Coupe. Pulled an engine out from under the racking, bolted my short box to it and voila.. Just short of a radiator, some shifter cables, exhaust and an ECU and it’s good to go for summer providing the ol corona doesn’t put a stop to it all 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've never really done any mechanic work other than servicing so this is quite a challenge and learning curve for me. Also I'm working on it in my tiny single garage....
