Tom Booth
The Fairlane was still getting abit warm on runs, so swapped the water pump and all hoses anyway.. Found the reason for the warm running.. Impeller had come from the drive shaft so was just doing nothing, then I guess when the impeller came off it shat 2 of the blades that were cloging up the water way. It's a miracle it lasted so well!
SamKidney
Managed a whole track day with no mechanical issues whatsoever! I’m both incredibly pleased and suprised at the same time

SamKidney
To echo my earlier post: Oulton Park yesterday. Had been told it’s just a longer, faster version of Cadwell. Few nerves with it being a new circuit and not being sure what to expect, especially after sighting laps and seeing where it could go badly wrong (Shell oils corner for one, banked hairpin braking into entry down from 120mph with zero run off ahead). Entrance into Druids is up there with Coppice at Cadwell for me, flat past the water tower and hard on the brakes, ace I had a little trouble finding brake balance in the morning with lots of the fastest braking zones being quite rough and my Coilovers lacking decent rebound adjustment, a play with bias and timing solved that in the end. Long right (Denton’s) after the start finish straight required you to be foot in all the way round, or go slow, not wise to lift as one Clio owner found out.. Shell oils banked turn nearly had me regurgitate my full English after 6 laps. Was lovely to have a garage to keep everything in, one huge bonus over Cadwell. Overall the car was fantastic. I could do with upping my stopping power and adding some ducting to the front brakes. I’ve ruined my front pads staying out too long at a time and I really could do with looking into a sorted fuel system to help prevent surge when low on fuel/under braking. I do need to fit my final drive and 4th 5th and 6th gears too, there’s more in it down the straights and out of corner exits with the power it’s got that the standard ratios and FD are holding back. Luke Rainbird
Good stuff, Sam. About time you had a full day without any issues really Modified my eBay decat to mate up my eBay DP to my eBay cat back. Removed reduced section, adjusted each leg length to suit and moved the flange from one end to the other, so nice and simple. Handed it over to MIL's partner who welded it up on nights in the dockyard yesterday, and he dropped it to the office on his way home this morning. Very happy with the result - all killer no filler!
forteh
So hanging around the dockyards at night has proved fruitful again?
dann2707
Quick detail today for the mx5. Lovely, fantastic car. It's great. Serviced it the other day too, it genuinely took me 20 minutes from start to finish. Everything is easy to work on
MadManMike
So, the restoration of my car is not far from complete. We swapped literally every panel except the bootlid, which will be swapped soon. All that's left to do now is a bit more tidying and most noticeably, fit a fog light in the big square hole where there should be one.

Jolfa
I couldn't be doing my S6 any more backwards, the only things wrong with it when I bought it were the rear dampers were shot to shit and some bad lacquer/paint. So far it's gone - stereo, wheels, paint, big turbo upgrade (for 350-400bhp) and some interior factory extras. The rear dampers are still shot and has an arch gap even John Deere would cringe at. Unfortunately on the suspension front, it has factory sports suspension which makes finding anything to fit it a bitch (especially over here) and coilovers require the equivalent of a VOSA test if fitted, otherwise no MOT Nevertheless - Edited July 24, 2018 by Jolfa

The MX-5 is essentially a Lotus Elan rip-off, so the badge is just a fun replacement for the proper Eunos badge. That and the fact I don't want to pay £50 for a new Eunos badge. That would depend on the map, the main reason I bought the car, simple bolt on mods for big power Swap the stock K24 turbo for the hybrid billet K26 I've got coming from the UK and a few other choice bits from the rest of the world and away you go*! *very slowly around corners because the arse is frighteningly unpredictable with that shagged suspension... Alex Dark
Argh having a nightmare getting the Audi through an Mot. Abs and esp lights on all the time . Had it scanned and called for right rear abs sensor to be replaced . Now it’s been replaced the lights are on all the time as opposed to being an intermittent fault. Abs ecu also looks pretty unhappy. Any ideas what to try next ? Loads of other random codes coming up too , that I’m choosing to ignore as I just don’t have time / money to chase them. CurtisRider
Is there a way of testing the sensor you just fitted? Going from intermittent to on all the time suggests the new sensor could be completely faulty rather than half buggered
SamKidney
ABS module likely kaput with those codes I’m afraid.

Honda news: Enquired about a unit down the road. Just too much coming in to have sat at work and use his space, don’t want to take the piss.. Following to do before Christmas: - EK Hatch B16A engine conversion - EK Hatch B18C4 Turbo conversion - EP3 3rd gear crunch to fix along with an LSD to fit, full suspension re-fresh, service, timing chain and clearances - EP3 3rd gear crunch - EE9 (1989) Civic engine fit (B16) - CRX VTEC (The supercharged one) wants a K20 fitting now instead.. this is the time consuming and costly one. - DC2 Gearbox rebuild - Kswap DC2 engine rebuild and refit along with gearbox re-fresh - EP3 for an LSD fitting More people in the pipe line waiting for quotes and a timescale.. all Hondas. Various engines and gearboxes in various states of disassembly/assembly I need to finish and get sold. I was really hoping I could strip the coupes wiring back to the bare essentials before adding in switch boards and butchering the dash in time for Cadwell on the 26th but I don’t think I’ll find time this side of 2018 never mind end of August if I want to have a life outside of cars on a weekend New engine is on a stand waiting to be stripped for bling internals but again, maybe next year. Busy busy. Edited July 31, 2018 by SamKidney
