MadManMike
I got a new car on Monday, she's on 220 miles now, 380 to go until the break-in procedure is complete... Super heavy steering, rock solid suspension and in N mode it does pops & bangs (Subtle ones though, not like the Focus wanker-map bangs). Great fun and an easy way to build my arms up a bit - after an hour of driving they ache like mad 😂
Paperclip
We had an agricultural building erected down at the stables this year & it would be rude not to waste half of it as man cave surely! Our new ramps arrive Thursday but the artic delivery is impossible for the location so these are getting drop off at a friend's garage and we will have to trailer them over. Got a small list of jobs I've accumulated on the Boxster to try and solve including a coolant leak the parts are on back order for. Very keen on getting out and doing a forum Dales run if others are? The Dales is a mixture of wide open visible routes, blind single-track & visible single track climbs. Obviously the added bonus of tourists, walkers, cyclists, farm traffic and being stuck behind me but I do know my way around quite well after 8 years of leading Boxster runs. Dreamy 😎 Let me know if you fancy it and I'll create a thread. I'll probably drag @AdamR28 out with me now I know he's an all weather animal through January but post something worthwhile for people to travel up North to, hotel suggestions & route (be all day of a job driving 8am - 4pm) likely around spring time. It will be pretty social, I haven't met some of you and haven't seen some of you guys for years so should be really good fun. It's more about driving than tyre kicking be warned. All cars welcome 👍 Full props to Mr Read as we keep going to ride the warehouse and no matter the weather his roof is down on the MX-5 can't wait to see it in action 🔥
AdamR28
That indoor space look brilliant! You will love the lift 👌😎 Keen for a run out, happy to assist if I can. Cheers Luke!

We've nearly got the kit car ready for action just some more messing around required but going to get it booked in for the geo and suspension setting up. Olly @ Phoenix Motorsport springs to mind having met him through a mate but I have no first hand experience with him Adam. Any other recommendations you could give us? EDIT: Just checked your website & if you can do it Adam there's absolutely no rush, happy to fetch it over any time. It won't be hitting a track until spring. Edited December 13, 2023 by Paperclip I just had a gander on the CleaR website
Wrayvon
I'll be keen to get a run out in my MK too Probably can rope in a few others too that used to be part of this crazy trials world many moons ago.
AdamR28
Ace. Would be great to have a few out - both in terms of people, and a variation in cars! I'd be happy to make it a single day thing if nobody wants to travel miles as us 3 are local enough. Which kit is it Luke? Can't quite tell from the photo... I'd rather work on something I'm familar with ideally. They all have slightly different suspension designs in a dynamic sense, which affects the ideal static settings, you see. I know Westfields inside out and done a few MNRs and Fishers. If it's a live axle at the rear that's easy and we could do some basis tests to determine how the front reacts dynamically and set up accordingly. Have heard good things about Phoenix though if you need to go that route, a bit closer to you also?
Paperclip
Ramp half built this afternoon, it's huge! Give me some winter fun to play under the car. Run wise if people are local enough to make these a single day or even a morning out that's all the better for me I'm quite happy to post more than just one & that gives us chance to do different routes each run. Forest of Bowland is a nice little route into the Dales to link up with Ribblehead Dales there's loads can do the wider B roads through and hit Buttertubs Pass. Can do Patley Bridge to Lofthouse which is just 15 mins of totally blind corner after corner (I love that) before some epic narrow hill climbs. Tan Hill via Cross Top. Plus all my going out to clear my head routes which mostly consisted of me getting completely lost and driving along narrow lanes that are breathtaking although not as quick. Can't wait 😎

My car goes into a specialists in Barnsley on the 3rd of Jan for the coolant pipes. I would like to have had a go at this myself for full ramp glory but the price difference between parts & the quote from these guys made the decision for me. Plus I imagine 10 year old rubber on aluminium's likely the best welds on the car 😂 So at some point mid Jan Adam I'm keen to head out if you get any free time. AdamR28
Ah that is probably a good shout. As you said, wrestling with those hoses would be no fun! Mid Jan looking a bit tricky for me, last weekend onwards all good though 👍

Heatsink
Here's my mean machine! Photo taken so you can't see I've only refurbished 3 of the wheels. The car decided to evolve its own ratlook matt bonnet!
AdamR28
Cheeky little track day at Oulton yesterday. So good! When do you fancy going playing down the back lanes, Luke? @Paperclip My mate just picked up a 370Z and is keen to get it out properly 😎 Actually I think you met him at Tarty recently, Danny?

I think we exchanged one of those senior moments where we both looked at each other having recognised but at the same time having no clue who either of us were. I have just changed pads this week and need to get out and bed them in hopefully one evening next week & then I am game Adam. Mid March suits me the most work wise & should give the council enough time to sort out a few of the sniper potholes we encountered on the last drive out. Keen to see how the 370 handles the Dales, the 350 was cool when it came out but the 370 has aged the best, always wanted to see how they go on on the twisties. I'm sure I'll have my work cut out with you in the Supercornerer3000 can't wait!

I am shocked you didn't have the roof down, soft lad. After it had about 2" of snow in it last time 😂
Paperclip
Ramp in action. I seemed to have lost my locking nut key or suspect laying with the garage I had my coolant pipes swapped at although I'm not sure what the wheels would come off for. A fun way to blunt my new set of drill bits anyway, I have replaced them with what seems to be a set of lockers with an even more misplace-able key 🤷♂️ Brakes bled & new front pads to see if Texstar are any better than the Brembo ones that I fit last year. new eBay win was a genuine Cayman spoiler wrongly listed I don't think the breakers yard knew what they had/ how sought after these are - I am excited to do a very bad paint job on this and fit it anyway, I suck at rattle cans 😂
AdamR28
Spoiler looks a nice buy. Glad to see you getting use out of the lift too! Mid March works for me, I'll see what Danny's up to as well...
AdamR28
Well that were reet good 😎 thanks again for leading such a cracking route Luke, definitely keen for another sometime. Although perhaps at a slightly reduced pace as that was pretty mental at times, haha, you are some pedaller dude👌 Anyone else fancy it?
Paperclip
Marking myself officially safe from a trip out with Tarty Adz. Quite the driver Adam!
Paperclip
I would be quite happy to lead a similar route for a group drive via this forum if anybody is interested. We would be setting off from the Skipton area BD23. For anybody travelling up for a drive I can send some hotel recommendations as we would be looking to start early & happy to arrange a afternoon/evening meal if that was the case. If it's just a bunch of midland/Northerners then winner winner. We hit a few super single track roads I would avoid in larger groups so starting over Skipton way would suit better but I do intend on following Adam up Hartside Pass and watching the MX-5 do it's thing. Wrayvon
If it's appropriate for an MK then I'll gladly join. Skipton isn't far from me either which is a brucey bonus.

MadManMike
Today was reserved for pressure washing and sanding fences. These photos show why that didn't happen. Fun little drive out around the Brecons today, though the weather was so terrible it wasn't a particularly fast one. Nice to clear the head anyway. Also, the internet was right - 5.5k miles on this since December and the front tyres need replacing already!
AdamR28
Glad you are enjoying it! Went out in one of these at Oulton Park recently and it was a right thing. Felt much more lively than the usual FWD stuff like Golfs etc. Really impressive.

Definitely the most fun daily I've ever had, surprisingly comfortable and economic when you need it, too - a run to Scotland two weeks ago saw 51mpg and my arse wasn't too numb either
