SamKidney
I’ve not purchased an Integra (yet) but I’ve just bought this for £300. No engine/box but it’s rust free, comes with rare Civic EG alloys, Coilovers, EP3 Seats and an exhaust I don’t need.. Alloys - £100 Seats - £70-£80 Exhaust - £90.00 Un-needed bits of old civic -£120 = Making money on a re-shell! Over the moon. This means I can weld a roll cage in and get serious with it.. leaving me to enjoy a DC2 as it should be. I.E mostly original! The wheels are Honda Fat Fives, to be honest not *too* rare, but certainly desirable! Rare as shit in Australia though, literally can't find a single wheel ha. In car news, I'm back in a Honda, have been for a while I also have a YouTube channel now which covers a lot of the Australian car scene, if interested. https://www.youtube.com/joydrive At the weekend Kia gave me a Stinger 300S, it was insanely awesome. Can not recommend enough. I've also managed to get my hands on a Civic FK8 to review a couple of months ago - again a fantastic car. Nice to see some great whips in here still!
SamKidney
Fat Fives are quite desireable over here and not often seen in the classifieds. Already got a bidding war going on them I get it tomorrow and will be going over it throroughly Friday evening. Looking forward to getting stuck into a bit of a project again. A few plans for it before my K swap goes in! Work wise, my Honda side of it, has been upcoming too. Currently mid-strip down and inspection of a B16B out of a friends EK9 Type R I’m rebuilding. Very tired Engine this.. Recovered another lads Civic Jordan last night too. Poor chaps only had it 24 hours and the head gaskets gone. Very clean shell though and the standard B16a2 has been adorned with EK9 pistons to bump up the C.R and EK9 cams to match! B18 high compression engine for the blue CRX is in planning and nearing a start, potential B16 Turbo on the cards and two K series gearboxes to build up with M Factory LSDs and Carbon syncros. In my element Edited January 31, 2018 by SamKidney
Tom Booth
When you order a top end basket kit, radiator, rad hoses, heater hoses, thermostat, thermostat housing, hoses, water pump, fan kit and heater take offs to combat the water leak you have, only to find the first heater hose you come to has a split in it . Ahh well, jobs need doing anyway.
dann2707
Well i've done a fall back in love with Boris, perfect timing ready for valentines too... I swapped the clio over with the Corsa as I needed to fix the handbrake on it, so out Boris went and I figured i'll give him a wash whilst he's outside. Really glad I did as i've come away smiling so much and realised that he's now at a level that i'm really happy with (the spoiler has helped massively) Exterior pictures 20180204_164108 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164113 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164121 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164146 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164159 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_165640 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164210 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164215 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164251 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164312 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164348 by dann2707, on Flickr 20180204_164523 by dann2707, on Flickr Theres a hole in the floor that needs welding up asap. Seriously close to taking it off the road, stripping the good stuff off it and picking up a fresh car (without years of neglect and poorly-executed mods) to start afresh. SamKidney
Clio looks fantastic Dan! Be worth the hard work and effort when it’s working for sure. I looked round the replacement coupe today. It’s good but I’m unsure if I want to track it. Would make an excellent everyday car with a B16/B18 in which could be done at little cost and leave me with enough funds to keep on searching for a DC2 to plonk the K into. Decisions decisions. Tom Booth
Yeah haha it looks nothing like that now. Currently a big good where that engine is but it's shaping up ready for a motor. Edit.. actually probably more like 8 years old..
Danny
What state is it in? Why was it you took it apart in the first place?
Tom Booth
It's in a pretty good state to be honest. I took the motor out as the clutch let go and I'd had enough of spending all my spare money and time fixing it so bought a polo. It's currently just missing it's motor and wiring loom. I took the loom out as it's been bodged a million times and was borderline dangerous. So I built a basic loom to power the lights, wipers, horn, fan, ignition and gauges as that's all that is left really. I even have a new clutch and flywheel to go back in just never got the oomph to do it. A few good weekends would see it back on the road but I'd rather spend time on it and get it right and nice this time. I'm contemplating a new colour as the body is rust free and would just need a scrub up and paint, but that might be next year.
Danny
You always wanted to paint it a pale blue colour didn’t you? Get it back in one piece and get it on the road for summer. Then take it apart again and let it sit for 6 years over winter
Tom Booth
Yeah I always wanted to paint it island blue but never really was in a position to do it. Job list mostly is.. Fit yellow band master cylinder and early pedal box Wire the car up (looms already made just needs laying and fitting up) Clutch, drop engine in Get valve guides done to finally cure the smoke issue Tinker till works... Danny
Nothing too crazy. Ditching the servo then? I'm really not convinced mine works.
Tom Booth
Yeah gonna loose the servo for intercooler pipework space, plus I needed a new master cylinder anyway so was convenient timing. Thinking of running fresh brake lines through the whole car while I'm at it. It's a pretty inexpensive job and worthwhile doing while I'm at it. bing
Few Motoring based things gone on just lately, saw Dan cox on the A50 in his green goblin. Not that much faster than my 44t DAF artic crashed the Monte on Boxing Day, got it repaired, it's now back on the road Did the front brakes on the monte, replaced them at 53k with Pagid pads and disks from Euro car parts, the difference from standard is unreal Been ousted from my old 64 plate DAF at work into a 16 plate, drive completely differently. Gearbox software/mapping is gash. Too much focused on eco driving and fuel saving. With eco mode on it struggles to get past 40 unless you turn it off, and it won't hold onto a gear unless you override it and put it in manual, which kinda defeats the object of a semi auto. Hard work to drive smoothly, being as that we are encouraged to keep it in the green band and not go into the blue. Don't know if there's many other truckers on here that know what I'm on about, I would genuinely have an MAN over a DAF nowadays
MadManMike
Millions miles from being a truck, but I feel your pain in my 120d Sport. Sometimes I put it in Eco Pro just to try and get some economy on the motorway and it's fine for that, but as soon as you go up a slip road and pull away at a roundabout it just feels broken. You have to floor it to get anywhere, which then makes your economy bad... It's not actually that much different to sport mode in terms of fuel economy anyway, so I only use it on long motorway stretches.
