AdamR28
It was a in a Westfield: But yes, seen them in loads of different cars! I think you will always want 'more power', it's just natural...
SamKidney
The only thing that makes the C20xe gay are the chavs that stick them in as a standard lump in a Corsa B and praise them as the fastest thing on earth. Properly built examples can be awesome. Popular "budget" choice in Mk2 Escorts. Impressive power on twin 45s or ITBs with multipoint injection.
isitafox
I remember a mate of mine sticking one in his Nova (that was the predecessor to the Corsa for all you youngsters on here) and that was stupidly fast!
AdamAllen
Redtop corsa bruv, mint. Anyway.. Rx8's.. anyone had any first hand experience with them? Rather than everyone just saying, they're shit. Found 1 with a recon engine fitted in 2014, only covered 3000 miles since. Could be worth a punt? A friend of mine had a Rx8, it was some sort of limited edition thing, think it had more power than a standard one and spec'd differently but... Apart from it using far too much fuel and oil it didn't ever break down on him. He had it around 18 months too. They just need looking after a little more than a typical car that's all. MadManMike
I honestly wouldn't bother with an RX-8. Granted all the things I've heard are literally just "things I've heard", but they seem to rely on people looking after them properly, which most people seem not to do. I've also read that, even when running perfectly, the RX-8 engine isn't overly inspiring. I realise it's all things I've read rather than first hand experience, but generally these kind of comments are pretty accurate. See also "VW engine light" jokes - I've had enough experience of the VAG group to know this joke has some actual facts behind it. And no, not just that black shed I had for a while. What makes you want the RX-8?

See im under the impression they cant all be bad if looked after, this kinda backs me up, fuel doesn't bother me, i know what im letting myself in for haha, oil doesn't either, Ive ran an alfa for 2 years, im used to checking every 500 yards 39 minutes ago, MadManMike said: I honestly wouldn't bother with an RX-8. Thats the thing, im not careless at all, i look after my cars, if i had enough trust in buying one i know id look after it accordingly, just the gamble of buying used cars I guess albeit a higher risk with such motor. I used to be abit of a vag whore but never really had any issues with engine lights always found the jokes tiring but still a chuckle :/ Not really sure, Im all about 'car for money' 2k can get you a hell of a lot of car! dont really keep anything to long besides the alfa I currently own but thats down to circumstances the past couple of years, think they could be cheap thrills for abit (if it doesnt go wrong that is) 9 minutes ago, DK. said: Saab B234R engines in corsa's are mental mate. The bit where you came up to what would normally be the 90° right hander towards the end of the lap that would then lead you on to the left hander at the pit exit confused the shit out of me. Thought you were just giving it some bant, then you went through that other section and I had no idea what was going on. It'd be interesting to go back to Blyton now having driven on track a bit more and see what it was like. I spent most of my time on that first day in full on upside-down-helicopter-dog mode so I assume I'd be able to take a bit more of it in this time.

SamKidney
The RX8s are a fairly nice thing but will bite you in the arse if you're slack with service intervals, of which there are many. The way they Rev is hilariously brilliant but power wise I haven't found them overly inspiring either. Never mind replacing rotor tips... Changing the spark plugs is a ball ache, they require regular oil changes/level checks and once the tips are on the way out they are a nightmare to get started. I'd sooner buy an older MX5 and boost it. On the Redtop/Saab front, I'm not really a fan of the B204 in the Corsa/Nova chassis either unless they're set up right, if they can be. I've fit a C20xe in a Corsa B sport but the lad didn't want anything else altering. Ruined an already bad car. Not driven one yet that felt like it was actually put together properly. Willing to be proved wrong.. I have driven a carb'd C20xe Westfield though, and they're fantastic in a RWD application. Isn't all the power at the top of the rev range, so you have to scream the tits off them?

I spent some time cleaning up and spraying my track wheels today. 16". 215 tyre should help with grip a little too. Think I'd prefer a 15" though really.
